Hi Amy. Great pictures of the kiddos. You have a good Santa too!

Santa wraps at our house. But I have another question along those lines? How many of your kids get presents from both Santa and you? All of my kids' presents come from Santa. I don't know why, other than that's how my parents did it. For those of you that give your kids presents as well, how do you determine which are from you and which are from Santa?

Santa only brings one present...and the stocking stuffers...at our house. We determined that with Cassidy....our family line is "Santa only brings one present to our house because not everybody is lucky to have all the grandmas we do". I also didn't want Santa to get all the kudos for presents...or for my kids to think Santa can afford things mom and dad can't.

But this is also the way both Jim and I grew up.

Our kids get something they REALLY want from Santa, and something they really need from Alan and me. That way, Santa is the good guy. We also set a Santa budget.

I brought Alyssa home from preschool and she proceeded to tell me that she didn't like where I put the tree this year. Usually it is in the front room, but I decided to put it in the family room this year so we could enjoy it while we sit and watch tv. When it's in the front room we never see it. I explained this to her, and then in her best 4 year old home makeover voice, she tell me to put the tree where the rocking chair is, move the rocking chair to where there is currently an end table, beside the love seat. You know, she actually might be right. Who knew?!

:rotfl: :rotfl2: I love the way kids minds work sometimes.

Well, I have an update on my neighbor, Louis. He was taken into surgery yesterday to try and repair his hands which were the most badly burned. They had hoped they could wait a week or two for him to stabilize, but the hands were so bad that they had to try, or risk amputation. They were going to take skin from his back and thighs to repair.

He was pretty heavily sedated, but managed to smile and Jill and tell her that when he got out from surgery he'd better look like Brad Pitt, or he'd sue the doctor. At least he's still got his sense of humor. Please keep him in your prayers. I haven't heard the outcome of the surgery, but I'm hopeful!

Looking back, I really wish we had done Santa differently. I think Santa needs to bring a couple of the big items and the rest from parents. When DH got layed-off, it was tough trying to explain to a 7 year old that Santa didn't leave as much as usual even though he had been a very good boy. If he knew that some of the present were from us, he would have understood that we just didn't have the $$ to buy things.

update: Jim's shoulder seems to be just a bruised bone...he will go to the doctor this afternoon for a followup and a release back to work or know better when he can go back to work.

Cassidy also found Dad more talkative and understandable while he was on his percocet. He has a week's prescription...but is just working on Tylenol.
I wonder if where he hit was his talking bone because he kept talking and talking...usually at dinner we have to tell Cassidy to hush....last night it was Jim. :rotfl:

I need some DDA prayers right now! Alan just called me. His last news story of the day was to cover a fire at a local business. As he got there, an ambulance was getting ready to pull away. Alan got his camera out to shoot the video, and noticed that the spouse of the injured man was our neighbor! It was her husband who was burned in the fire! He's got 3rd degree burns over 21% of his body and his hands are really bad.

Alan finished the story, and went to the hospital to be there for Jill and their 3 sons. I'm just so saddened by this! Please pray for Louis and Jill Jasperson and their 3 boys. This will be a very hard holiday season for them, I'm sure!

Thanks, everyone!

Prayers & pixiedust: for this family!

I just bought the kids' Valentine's Day present....tickets to Disney on Ice Feb. 18!!!! :Pinkbounc

Good Morning Everyone!

I have been very busy the last few days and haven't had a chance to post. I am finally off for 5 days, so I am hoping to get some things done.

We are getting our family pictures done this week, and while we are at the mall, Leighanna will see the "real" Santa. We have had a yearly photo of her with him since she was born, so I don't want to miss this year too! He is a very good Santa with a real beard, so she always calls him the real one! Hopefully she won't be asking for Butterscotch the Pony! :rotfl:

Friday is our company's Christmas party, so we have a sitter for that night. It is also our 22nd wedding anniversary. I can't beilieve it has been that long. We got married when we were 19, and a few relatives said that it would never work out. I bet they are eating their words about now! :goodvibes

All the pictures with Santa have been fantastic! Hopefully I will get a good one on Thursday and I will post it then.

We are hoping to get our tree this weekend. We have 3 "artificial" ones in the garage, but my wife remembers having a "real" tree as a child, and all the memories she has of it. She wants Leighanna to have the same memories of going out in the cold and searching for the "perfect" tree. It is fun, but a lot of work.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Saying prayers for everyone that needs it. :grouphug: :wizard: :grouphug: :wizard:

We also had friends that predicted our marriage wouldn't last. We have been married 24-1/2 years now. One of the Port Orleans boat captains told us we must be the "happiest couple on earth". Not bad after almost 25 years!

The big gift would be from Santa & the smaller gifts from us.

I'm guessing bruised but not sure...he didn't go into that.

Only problem with Kate's suggestion.....Jim doesn't know where the receipt is!!! :confused3 and Abi still believes you can not exchange Santa presents....because the elves made them!!

You could mention to Cassidy Christmas morning that you are glad that you returned the one that you bought because of whatever reason or else she would have ended up with two of them. That would explain why it was in the house before Christmas.

Hope the surgery went well :wizard:
