good grief...not only did I miss like the last 20 or so pages of the last thread, I wake up and see there's a new one and it's nearly 40 pages in already!!!
I can't remember if I posted or not, but Jacob didn't make it home on Tuesday. Monday he had ALOT of things done and they took their toll on him, and he had a "brady" episode, which means his heart rate dropped more than 50% below normal, and he stopped breathing for more than 20 seconds. The nurses had to pick him up and stimulate him to get him started breathing again. The doctor that morning had said she felt it would be better to hold off another day or two before discharging him. At first I was a little ticked but in hindsight I'm so thankful. Had I taken him home or even roomed in with him that night he would have died while in my care because he wouldn't have been on the monitors that went into alarm when he stopped breathing.
Because of that, he's on a 5 day "countdown" where he has to go 5 days without another episode before they will consider discharging him again. He's got 3 days down so far and he's in the midst of day 4 right now. We're looking at Sunday night rooming in and Monday discharge now.
Since he had not had any episodes prior to this one, they are pretty sure it was just stress from having to much done to him in such a short time. He got a HepB shot, circumcision, tylenol, change in his milk fortification, new bottle to feed from, and increase in breastfeeding (he's only on breastmilk but getting it from a bottle for 5-6 feeds per day-we went to 3), all in the course of just a few hours.
I think of all the things that any new mother fears, and having him stop breathing is probably my worst one, because he could do that when I'm not there. I'm not pushing anymore to get him home, I'll just bide my time and let him get stronger first...besides, Tuesday is my 1st wedding anniversary, so we'll have something else to celebrate![]()
I don't get it...I got points for quoting an article that described the procedure for a late-term abortion that Obama SUPPORTED, yet that abortion thread is allowed??![]()
Gee, from hearing the left talk Europe is ecstatic that 52% elected a socialist. My mother is still crying over the election. She has friends in Germany (former east Germans) and they are laughing at the stupid Americans for voting the socialist in office. Americans sold out for a few bucks and some slick words.
I agree with Honu. The zoo would be awesome. But I have to bring my son.![]()

Yup, Tink & Goofy, it was just on my radio that Obama "called Nancy Reagan and apologized for his careless joke."
Apparently he's been hanging out with Joe "Foot-In-Mouth" Biden too much.![]()
He did call Nancy Reagan and apologize. Good for him.
Ahmadinejad sent a congratulatory note to obama. North Korea also says they're willing to talk to him.
Geez. A congrats note from a terrorist. Nice.
Michelle~ We could do the aquarium, as well, if the weather is going to stink. The zoo is better, though.
