~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

CindyLou - Thanks for the well wishes. Yes, it was hard to see the SUV banged up like that. You and I have the same running plan. I am still trying to figure out why I was on pace for a sub 4-hr marathon for 21 miles and then I just tanked. Now I am lining up mid-distance races which are a lot more fun to run and train for.

Jodi - What r u running next? I thought I remember you saying you only have 5Ks lined up. May 3...Broad Street Run. 25,000 people running the fastest 10-mile course in the USA. The race has you and The Cloud all over it.

Howard - Nice job on the bike. How are you feeling for Caesar Rodney? Do you think you'll be ready to go next week?

Cindy - Have fun in San Jose! I wouldn't mind a trip out west. Catch a Sharks game while you are out there.

Chester - How is your firm holding up? I was with some architects yesterday and they were suffering. Good luck with the 8 miles.

Mike - I was like you. Snow put a wrench in the running here too. I took to the TM last week but busted the thing.

Hey Dave, Sara, Colleen, and Jen.

Back to running today. Went out for a 4-mile lunch run and managed to avoid slipping on ice and snow. I stopped by the Adidas and Nike outlets on the way out of A.C. last night. Man, retailers are hurting. It's a good time to buy running gear because these guys were almost giving stuff away.

Nicole and I will work on the car situation tomorrow. It's also a good time to buy a car because the dealers are begging us to come in. Lots of 0% and 0.9% loans.

I signed up for the Ocean Drive 10-miler on March 29. $40 for a 10-miler seemed steep but you do get a medal. Plus the race runs along the ocean from Cape May to North Wildwood. Who's in?

Lou

Howard - Nice job on the bike. How are you feeling for Caesar Rodney? Do you think you'll be ready to go next week? Lou

Lou~ I am not sure if I'll be "ready" for a run like I originally intended (a course PR = sub 1:59:37) but I am ready to run it come what may. I'll know more after the 5K on Saturday. I will also try to get some miles in on Sunday and during the week leading up to the Caesar Rodney Half.

I wanted to offer you the opportunity to come here to my house and we could drive down together, if you are interested let me know. If not, I can meet you downtown. I'll be prking in Cam's lot and enjoying a heated office building pre-race if needed. Plus a swanky restroom vs. a port-o-let. By the way, I am contemplating the Broad Street Run. Does it sell out?

CindyLou~ Thank you, it is coming along pretty well so far. I guess the 5K and half will have some impact. I am going to take them relatively easy though and not pound on the foot too much. Great job with the 4:09 marathon. I know how much work it takes to complete one in that time. My Marine Corps Marathon last fall was 4:10, it was tough. I know I should be able to beat it if I can get back into shape (post PF) and train for it.

Hi to the other Bots! popcorn::

:grouphug:

Howard

Hey Bots,

Just checking in. Packing up for another swim meet this weekend. Two more weeks left in the short course season.

Started my tutoring job this week, anywhere between 12-16 hours per week. It is keeping me busy.

Have a good one. Good luck to the Princess halfers this weekend.

MIke, is Kathy going down for the Princess?

Chester - How is your firm holding up? I was with some architects yesterday and they were suffering. Good luck with the 8 miles.

Lou
We're hanging in there. We just picked up a small local fire station and we are helping the South Florida Museum with some space planning for future expansion plans - free work for the time being.

The 8 miles didn't happen. It was 9:30 when we got home from the Soccer banquet. But, I did get to walk down to see the Pirates beat the Twins earlier in the afternoon.

Weather is great here today. I rode the motorcycle to work for the first time.

Planning on getting 18 miles in tomorrow and then getting up early Sunday morning to drive over to WDW to cheer for the W.I.S.H.ers running the Princess Half.

Later Dudes,

Howard - That works for me. I'll touch base with you later this week or next Saturday to firm up the plans. The heated office will be nice.

The Broad St Run doesn't sell out. They had about 25,000 registered last year. This year they are going to have corrals because it was nuts at the start. You park at the Sports Complex and take the subway (free) 10 miles north to Olney. The subway was PACKED last year so I am going to plan to get there real early. The kids are going to run the 1 miler. Sign up! Once you sign up the rest of the bots will jump in.

Hey Bots

I found this awesome relay; Americanodysseyrelay.com. We coulda probably pulled it off this year, except some of you twits insist on going to the land of Cowboy Hats & Belt Buckles. Maybe next year??

I ran yesterday & it's supposed to be almost 60 here today, so I'll be running again, I guess.

Mike - Please hurry & get a Facebook page, we miss you over there :rotfl:

Oh yeah, MisfitDogUpdate. The little ratty thing is sick so there has been a delay in my "fostering":rotfl2: I'm thinking this is a sign & I should just concentrate on the travesty that is my life, and not worry about such other things as decrepit dogs.;)

Hey Everyone: Whoo hooo, I got a long run in, 8 miles in 1:15 for 9:22 mpm. Seems like the first time in forever I got out for a Saturday LR.

Jodi - Looks pretty cool. I'd do it!

Have you noticed how politely I've stayed out of the whole dog conversation?

Facebook! You too?? Here's my "haven't drunk the Koolaid" question: Does everyone interact individually or can it be a group discussion sort of thing like here? I guess I'm just an old busybody but I'm just as interested in what everyone else is chatting with each other about.

Dave - Nice job on the LR. You're on the road to Pittsburgh now.

Colleen - Kathy is in WDW right now, stressing about, I mean getting ready for the race.

Howard - How did I miss that Cam was going down to Disney this weekend?

How did the 5K go?

Hey to everyone else. Maybe someone could go to Facebook and tell them that I said Hi?

Oh, those college days!;)

Have you noticed how politely I've stayed out of the whole dog conversation?
Thank you for not pointing out my insanity & obvious instabilities.

I've been on there for a while now, but I don't have many friends :sad1:  . No gossip to share, we're a pretty boring lot. In my opinion, the boards are better as a forum-type setting. Facebook is all over the place, but I like it for getting in touch with old "friends", it's neat. As a BOT, it's completely unnecessary, I think.

Tell Kathy I said good luck! And you tell Cam the same, Howard.

Dave - Congrats on the 8 miles, that's excellent!:thumbsup2

I ran 6 miles today & it was hideous, oh well. I'll run again tomorrow, that'll be 5 days in a row, then take Monday off.

Howard - How did I miss that Cam was going down to Disney this weekend?

How did the 5K go?

Mike~ Cam has had this weekend get-a-way planned for some time. She traveled down with Marie (Jenn's Godmother) to spend a day in the parks, visit with a homesick Jenn and generally do girly stuff. It just so happens to coincide with the Princess Half weekend. That is where the connection ends. I am not sure if she is scream teaming for anyone or taking care of things with Jenn - shopping for provisions, visiting, etc. Cam returns tomorrow night so it is a quick down and back for her and Marie. She is spending today from open to close in the Magic Kingdom. They all had lunch at the Crystal Palace.

I completed the Kelly's Logan House 5K run today in Wilmington in 27:08 (Mike - If you were on Facebook, you'd already know that!).

Here is the race info:

Miles: 3.1
Time: 27:08
Pace: 8:49
Splits: 8:25, 8:59 and 9:05

The PF was evident by the end of mile 2 but was not a big issue today (pre-race, during or after). I did ice it afterwards and will do so tonight before bed.

Jodi~ I'll check out the relay website.

Jodi~ I'll run the leg that covers the distance between the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials. :thumbsup2

Jodi- thanks for posting the link to the American Odyssey relay. That does look cool, and would be so close for all of us. I saw they also do a Reno-Tahoe relay. Wow, that would be a beautiful course. Too bad it's over the same weekend as my anniversary. Although, we did spend part of our honeymoon at Lake Tahoe, I don't think DW would be interested in spending it in a sweaty van.

http://www.renotahoeodyssey.com/

Howard- great job on the 5k. Sounds like you are making a comeback.

Yep, that's my girl!

I'll toot her horn since she would never do it. She knocked another 10 minutes off her PR - finished in 2:47 at a 12:45 or so pace. All I can say is that is SMOKIN' fast walking. No way I could ever come close to that! Needless to say, I am very proud of her.

Howard - Great job on the 5k. How's the PF today?

Jodi - If you say I don't need no stinkin' Facebook that's good enough for me.

Dave - You mean your good smelling wife packed in a van with a bunch of maybe not so good smelling Bots isn't her ideal way to spend an anniversary??:confused3 I don't get it.

I've managed to mess up my schedule a bit lately. Even with the best of intentions I seemed to have missed at least one run a week over the past few weeks. Last week's was my 20 mile LR. I'll get that in sometime in the next day or two and adjust from there.

I did get a 7 mile tempo-ish run in tonight while the girls were getting some religion. Probably XT tomorrow and then my LR on Tuesday AM before I pick Kathy up at the airport.

Take care my friends!

Mental Health Day

We all know that our mental-health days are just as important as our workouts, recovery days, and proper fueling. So, Monday's question for the 'Ohana mixer, which starts here on the team thread, is....

If you had an unexpected free day--no work or other obligations--and $20 to spend just on you, what would you do?

So please share those small indulgences that are essential to your mental well-being. Hopefully, we'll get new ideas and find kindred souls.

There are three little rules. Just because.

  1. You have to spend at least part of the $20 on you. No giving it away, no saving it for a rainy day, and no spending the $20 entirely on your beloved partner, cute kidlets, or BFF. You can spend time with these folks, of course, and some of the money. But the focus is on YOU and what you want to do.
  2. You can choose to work out, if you wish, or your mental health day can coincide with a recovery day.
  3. What you do on your mental health day has to reflect your everyday, local life. No "I just happened to be in Paris..." :rotfl2: You can imagine, however, that you have perfect weather.

As usual, full stories that are related to your mental-health day are welcome. Not to mention the odd digression! And you're always welcome to bring drinks, goodies, and profound thoughts on the meaning of life.

Happy Monday Bots!!!

Lou and Howard: Butch and I are in for the Broad Street run-- I need another race on the calendar and this one looked like a pretty good, local option for us.

Chester: It was great to see you over the weekend. Congrats on getting in the 18 miles and thanks so much for coming and scream teaming for us:woohoo: I'll have to get my tech support to post some pictures of you in your cheering attire. It was a great boost to see you along the course.

As for me: Butch and I had a nice, kid free weekend. The weather in Orlando was gorgeous :cloud9: The race went pretty well for both of us. Butch hadn't been able to run since the marathon due to foot pain ?stress fracture so he had been training on the ellipse and got in only 10-15 miles over the past month of actual running. He ran it in 2:06 which was great considering his training-- he did say he set one PR yesterday-- the most people asking him if he was ok after the race and suggesting he sit for a few minutes :rotfl2: I did pretty well and managed a PR of 2:43.

Great job Jen! Please give my best to Butch. I hope he ices that foot.

I had a great time navigating my way around the course. I've never been propositioned by so many sweaty women in my life. :scared1: I can't wait to do it again next year.

Where I was positioned after the start, I heard comments like "only 1 spectator?". Other comments during the race questioned whether I was a "Frog" or a "Leprechaun". At times, I thought I was a Disney character since I had so many requests for pictures.

I was a little worried when I called out "Hey Butch" to your DH at the start and got a dirty look from one woman. She must have thought I was making a statement about her sexual preferences and not simply cheering for your husband.:rotfl:

I'm glad you and Butch had a nice time and enjoyed your weekend.

Howard - Great job on the 5k. How's the PF today?

Mike~ Thanks, the 5K wasn't my best, but I'll take it. Kathy did a great job and you (and she) should be proud of her efforts during the Princess Half. Go right ahead and toot your horn!

My foot was sore today but not the PF, which is strange. It was sore inside/bone. Nothing I've experienced before. I have the half coming up this weekend so I am going to get in a few runs this week.

I developed a wicked headcold with sinus pain last night and it worsened overnight. I called out sick today so there was no running or XT for me. I am feeling better so maybe I can get in some miles tomorrow after work.

Jen~ Great job on your Princess Half! Please tell Butch that his time is impressive! Especially given the circumstances with his foot. I can comiserate.

Chester~ It is really nice of you to get to WDW to cheer everyone on. The world needs more people like you. :thumbsup2

Have a great week everyone!
