~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

Cindy - Someone else told me about using the neti pot and they sent me a link to a YouTube video of someone demonstrating it. Interesting to say the least. Not sure I could pour water into my nose on purpose.

Jodi - Better you than me. We've already rescued 3 cats that live with us and found 6 others homes. Cats aren't too bad because they are somewhat self sufficient. Dump some food and water in the bowls and they are good if we want to go away for a weekend. Dogs require some serious attention. I'm sure I'll rescue one when my kids are in college.

Sara - Hope you enjoyed Mary Poppins. Let me know how it was. Nicole wants to go to NYC in the spring and I need to find a show to see.

Howard - I have to register for NYC too. This will be year #2 of trying for me. Maybe we'll get lucky this year.

Mike - Nice job with the 18 miles. I'm sure you'll be fine with the National Marathon. Maybe you can take it easy for that race and just shoot for a measily 3:55.

Colleen - Sorry about the FB slam. I just saw your profile pics and it looked like you needed some photo editing 101 training. One of them is just black and 2 of them look like you scanned them but didn't crop then right. I'm a Photoshop junkie. On a separate (Canadien) note...went to a Flyers-Canadiens game on Friday. Canadiens fans showed up in droves and were really obnoxious. I was shocked to see people from Montreal rolling into a Philly arena and egging on Philadelphia fans. What's up with the Canadien hockey fans?

Hello Jen, Chester, Dave, Matt, and others I must have forgotten.

Thanks for the well wishes. Nicole and Marissa are fine. Now I have to figure out what the vehicle situation is. The cop on site said the SUV was totalled but we'll see.

I managed to get in 10.5 miles on Saturday in preparation for Caesar Rodney in 2 weeks. I averaged a 8:45mpm pace. I don't see much running for me this week. We have 10 inches of snow on the ground this morning and I busted my TM last week. I dang TM literally busted in half below the belt. I heard metal snap and everything. Oh well...I hated the thing anyway.

Good morning all! I am in the same boat as Lou with the snow. I got a call yesterday that our office would open at 10 AM today, then at about 9:00 AM today received a call that we were closing for the day. I was almost finished clearing off the car too. :sad2: I had already committed to taking Cam into work, so I did that and came home. I'll go get her later today. :car:

I had no ill effects from the 6 miler yesterday. I did Ice the foot afterwards, but this morning the foot is no worse for wear. My legs are a bit sore, but not too bad.

Lou~ I hope you get in to NYC this fall. I am sure it was a let down to not get in on the first go around. When do you get notification? Sometime in April? May?

Have a nice day everyone. If you are in snow, be careful today.

:grouphug:

So they bring this pathetic looking thing out....and I think I'm in love  . I mean, this dog is SO freakin' ugly, it's cute. Tomorrow, weather allowing, we're going to bring sorry dog to meet this sorry dog & see if they get along.

Ugh, I'm such a loser. Why do I feel the need to rescue pathetic creatures

Jodi
Do you want to foster some cats? They are almost like Chiwowwows. Seriously though, I have great admiration for your love of critters.

Lou
I'm glad that Nicole and Marissa are fine. I hope getting the SUV back on 4 wheels isn't too big of a hassle. Great props for On-star.

Mike
My schedule must be following 1 week behind yours. I ran 17 miles in wind and rain yesterday. 18 is schedule for this Sunday but I will have to move it to Saturday if I decide to Scream Team for the Princess Half.

 and :grouphug: to everyone else out there.

Is everyone snowed in or what? Where are the Bots?:confused3

I hope everyone is well.

Chester

Hello Chester! No giraffes out here-- we had about 8-10" of snow yesterday. Southern NJ just does not really know how to handle snow so yesterday was interesting. Now everything is just sort of icy on the roads with pretty white grassy areas and trees (you can tell I sort of like the snow). The good news is that we should be able to get out ok on Friday to fly to Fl.

Lou: glad to hear your family is all ok-- how is your car situation?

Butch found a fun program online that scans through your itunes library and tells you how many bpm each song is. We figures out how many foots falls per minute we each run and are making running mixes that match bpm to footfalls. He also has a program to "tweak" the bpm of songs a bit so they match our goal pace (have I mentioned he is a tech geek?). We are going to try running with these mixes for the Princess and see how it goes.

I'm here. I have 5 minutes before a meeting. Not too much for me to report. I've gotten in a couple of treadmill runs this week. Had a good run this morning, but I still haven't run any further than 3 miles for a while. It is bitter cold here now.

Chester, I may be coming down for the Muddy Buddy. I hope things work out that I can come.

OK, 5 minutes are up.

Yep, I got snowed in yesterday, big time. Lots of shoveling & such. But I also took advantage of the time & cleaned out 2, yes you read that right TWO, closets, which seemed to take all day. :rotfl:

I hope I'm well, too, Chester, but I'm not too sure. :rolleyes1 I'll leave that up to you guys to decide.

DUDE, that's some serious mileage that you got in the other day. You & Mike make me  with envy, no doubt. :thumbsup2

Wha????:faint:

Here's the gig with the cancer dog. I called about him & the lady proceeds to tell me that he's very demanding (I hear him barking in the background), but sweet. "Is he house trained?" Well, to be honest, I have 5 dogs & my house is full of dog pee, so he pees too trying to mark his terriorty. "Um, ok...well, maybe that won't be a problem, we have a huge fenced-in back yard." Oh, I do too, he dug out of it in 10 minutes. "Well, we walk our dog a lot...she's a female." He will definitely try & mount her, he's 15, but he hasn't been neutered. "Goodbye".
Sorry, but this isn't the old, decrepit thing that they described in the write up. This dog's lookin' to score with my dog & urinate on my furniture.

On they way home from running errands I stop by the local humane society b/c there was another dog I was considering (b4 i saw the cancer-stud) taking in, as well. An old beagle named Herbie. I ask about him & it turns out that Herbie is very dominant & food aggressive - perhaps he should be in a home without another dog.

OK, I'm leaving. But then the lady says they have this old, little chiuauauauauaua (you know the kind of dog I'm talking about right? Ratty looking things?) in back that needs fostering. The dog was dropped off @ the facility one a.m. & had bilateral ear infections (Cindy). This caused the dog, Hope, to go deaf and her ears to shrivel up. Beautiful. I hate little dogs.

So they bring this pathetic looking thing out....and I think I'm in love  . I mean, this dog is SO freakin' ugly, it's cute. Tomorrow, weather allowing, we're going to bring sorry dog to meet this sorry dog & see if they get along.

I've been wanting to reply to this for a while, and I didn't have time. So what was the final decision? Did you end up getting the little yoda/rat dog? :yoda: :dog:

Lou: glad to hear your family is all ok-- how is your car situation?
Jen - Thanks. Nicole and Marissa are fine. Nicole is a little mentally stressed right now as I think the fear of what happened is starting to sink in.

They totaled our SUV today. For those of you on FB I posted some pics of the damage. The insurance company said the frame was too bent up to try to fix. I went to pick up our personal items at the collision shop. Man, it was pretty scary to see the damage in person. It was also pretty depressing to pick little toys up that were tossed everywhere. Seeing the deployed side air bags was also scary.

The next time I wake up on Sunday, too lazy to go to church, I'll make sure to look at those pictures. Someone was watching out for Nicole and Marissa on Sunday because that vehicle was destroyed.

Needless to say no running for me today. Headed to A.C. tomorrow for a conference and a much needed break. May even try to bring my running gear for a little boardwalk run when I am finished.

Have a good trip Lou. Get some much needed rest and run when you feel like it.

:rotfl: Yoda, yes. This...this...thing they call a dog does look like Yoda! We have to bring our dog in to "meet" Yoda, & if all is well, we can bring her home right then & there. We'll do this on Friday afternoon.

I just keep wondering what it wrong with me that I want to take care of stray, down & out dogs?:confused3 Trying to justify my existence on this earth? Make myself feel better about myself? Who knows, I just gotta roll with it. And don't think it's an easy thing for me, either. I'm such a regimented person, that anything that throws a curve ball in my life causes me much strife. So why I would potentially want to do something like this is a mystery.

Lou - Things like what happened to Nicole & Marissa really put things in perspective. I think you can afford to sleep in for a few more church sessions, just let the ones that matter know how you feel on a daily basis :hippie: .

Hi Bots!

I hit the YMCA tonight and biked on the Expresso Bike (q u i c k s i l v e r trail) 6.33 miles in 23:30. My previous best on this course was 24:41 (twice). Tonight my efforts delivered a 3:43 pace. I wish I could run that fast! :lmao:

:grouphug:

Lou – Sorry about the car. I hope that Nicole and Marissa continue to be fine.

Jodi – I’m interested to hear how the doggie meet-n-greet goes!

Hi to all other bots! I gotta run - I’m off to Dulles in a few. Headed to San Jose, CA. There are no direct flights, so this is going to be a long trip. I'll be back 1 AM Fri/Sat.

Chester, I may be coming down for the Muddy Buddy. I hope things work out that I can come.

Who do you intend to bring down for your Buddy?

DUDE, that's some serious mileage that you got in the other day. You & Mike make me  with envy, no doubt. :thumbsup2

To tell you the truth, I'm starting to really question if I want to keep doing this. It's starting to get really easy to talk myself out of a run.

Tracy has a mp3 player called the "bodybeat" that organizes her songs that way. It's supposed to sync with heart rate or cadence or something like that. She got it at the DL Expo.

You're the one that is really chalking up the miles. I hope you're getting some running in too.

Soccer banquet for Miranda's HS team tonight, then 8 miles if I feel like it. I probably won't.

Hey All,

Nothing much going on around here.

I was relegated to TM hell last night due to the snow and ice. I guess it actually was probably for the best - speedwork day with mile repeats. The TM is probably the easiest way to keep track of all that crappola, but it's still no fun.

Then 6 miles this evening. Things had melted enough to where I only had to dodge a couple of slippery spots.

Take it easy everyone.

Hi Everyone, Just getting caught up on the happenings in Botsville.

Mike: As awful as the TM is, it really is great for doing speed work. No unintentional slowing down allowed. Thanks again for the Marathon well wishes.

Chester: Nice job on you LRs. Is it maybe time for a break? Looks like after CMM you’ve got just shorter races scheduled. If motivation is becoming a problem, maybe you’re due for some R&R. Good luck with the Scream Teaming – that should be fun.

Cindy: Hope your ears are feeling better. Have a safe trip. Hopefully CA is warm and sunny.

Jodi: I’m glad you enjoyed your cruise. Good for you for even considering taking the foster dog in. I hope it works out for you.

Lou: Glad the family is OK. My DH’s pickup was hit by a tractor trailer a few years ago. He just ended up with a few stitches. I was fine until I saw his truck. I really lost it then. Enjoy your trip to AC.

Dave: At least you’re getting in some runs, even if they are short and on the TM, it’s better than doing nothing.

Jen: Have a great time at the Princess.

Howard: Glad the PF is improving.

Colleen: Hope you and your family are feeling better.

Sara: Good luck with the leg pain. Hope the PT helps.

I’ve run just once since my marathon, but have been doing some Jillian Michael’s DVDs to keep moving. I keep going back and forth about how I feel about my race. I ran 4:09 which is my 2nd fastest marathon and unlike the last marathon I ran I was in the vertical position when I crossed the finish line so that’s a plus. I wasn’t expecting a lot before the race since I had been sick the 2 weeks leading up to the race. The forecast was for heavy rain and wind which held off until the last 6 miles. I think before the race ever started I was already preparing myself for a poor race. Once the race started I was able to stay between an 8:50 and 9 min mile which was my plan. I kept at that pace thru 18 then gradually slowed down. I never felt great during the race, but I never went thru the phase of “I hate this, why do I do this, I’m never doing this again.” It makes me wonder if maybe I could have given a little more. Four hours to run the race, 8 months to analyze and re-analyze it. Ugh. My plan for now is to concentrate on shorter races and run another marathon in the Fall. I’m looking forward to the break from the high mileage.

Have a great day everyone.
Cindy

I think you may be onto something there. I intend to start training for some sprint triathlons after CMM. I'm just waiting for the Gulf water temps to warm up a bit so I can learn how to swim.

CindyLou - You did a great job in Cape Cod! Good for you. Don't think about it too much! Running's supposed to be a stress reliever!
