~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

You are all welcome to call me lazy, my exercise yesterday consisted of working all day then coming home and power eating popcorn popcorn::

Howard: hope you get an answer on your foot soon

Lou: belated congrats on your Penn race

Mike: have fun this weekend at CMM

I plan to break out of slug mode tonight and actually get a few miles in so I don't die trying to run Broad Street.

You guys had no idea I was IT savvy, did you?:rotfl:
I knew you were IT :clown: savvy... we all float down here...

Man, this week's been flying by. The kids have off school for the week. So I'm doing the work/kid juggling. I've been on Daddy duty all week, and bringing the girls down with me to work. It's been exhausting. I did get runs in on Monday and yesterday though, and I plan on heading to the gym today. I'm looking forward to the 80 degree temp they're predicting for this weekend.

Morning everyone: I drug my exhausted self to the gym after work and got in 3 miles on the TM. I'm taking a rest day today, or maybe I'll do some biking for my Muddy Buddy training. Have a great day everyone!

Hey Everyone,

Posting from here in the land of boots, hats, and BIG belt buckles.

We just got through eating dinner with 25 WISHers, including Chester.

It's supposed to be 72 degrees at the 7:00AM start, up to high 80's with 20 mph winds. All we need is some thunderstorms with golfball size hail and it would be perfect race weather!

Needless to say, no time ambitions for the race. I'm just shooting to have some fun. I'm in corral 6 and Kathy is starting the half in 25. Given the 2-3 minute delay for each corral to be released we may finish just about the same time.

Now we just have to wait half an hour for all the TnT folks to clear out so we can get an elevator up to our room!

I hope everyone has a good weekend.

Good Morning Everyone: Waking up and fueling up for my LR this morning. I'm in mini-taper mode before Pittsburgh next week, and planning on doing 8 miles today (my city loop). Yesterday I listened to my body, no exercise but I soaked in the pool while my family swam. It felt great.

Mike- I'm hoping you and Kathy have good races today.

Chester- Same to you. Have a great run in Nashville.

Jen- How you doing breaking out of slug mode?

Hi Howard :wave2: give my best to Cam, Go Pens! When do you get those MRI results?

Hi Lou- Go Pens!

Howdy Jodi- I'm still excited for my DIS Unplugged interview. It probably won't be played for a couple weeks though. They're doing the best of Bawb show next week. So I'm hoping I make the cut the week after that. I can't believe I scored the interview. Just shows, it never hurts to ask.

Hi Colleen :wave2: what do you have coming up race-wise these days.

Hi Cindy- You're racing next week, aren't you?

Sara- I'm honored to have you for a friend.

Hey Everyone: I wanted to share this with what I consider my main peeps. I started blogging on the site a little bit ago. I just posted a new one yesterday, if anyone cares to take a look.

Hi Colleen :wave2: what do you have coming up race-wise these days.

Races??

Ha ha, the only racing I am doing is racing to the best spot to put down my yoga mat in the yoga studio.:rotfl:

Dave, it is good to see and read you blogs, it is obviously you take great joy in it!:thumbsup2

Just returned from a super sweaty 4 miler. I had to get some work done this morning that had to go out to a client before noon, and since I got up at 5:30 to do that, I really didn’t have much choice but to run in the middle of the day. Definitely not enjoyable, but I got it done. I’m going to try to get up early tomorrow and get in 8 or so. Yes, Dave, I am running a half next weekend (and the weekend after that actually). We just learned that the half next week starts at 6:30am (it’s about 50 miles away). Upon learning this, Matt promptly called and booked a hotel room.:rotfl:

Cindy - Thanks for the metromap...i checked it out & yeah, we're out near Tyson's Chicken, Corner....whatever . I can't wait to share a room with someone who I don't even know :yay:! Maybe we can set up a location to meet when we're sightseeing, pretend you're Secret Service, & haul me off for questioning...aka a BIG beer!:lmao: I'm sure I'll need it. Will you & Matt try to get into NYC 1/2 this year?

I actually work right near all the touristy stuff, so I technically could meet you for a mid day beer, although I'm guessing the school frowns upon the chaperones ditching the kids (or bringing them to a bar). No NYC half for us this year. It was fun, but it's kind of an expensive weekend and we are headed up to NYC with some friends for Memorial Day Weekend this year.

I tried to track Mike, Kathy, and Chester, but the site appears to be down.:sad2:

Sara

Howard – I’m guessing you didn’t get an earlier appointment ‘cause you would have told us. I hope you have good news waiting for you on Tuesday.

Colleen - are you going to run Richmond with Jeff? Matt wants a "back up" marathon in case Baltimore doesn't go so well and it might be Richmond. I'll probably just tag along to where ever he decides and run the half.

Dave - That's cool that you are blogging. I'll check it out!

Hi to the Jersey Bots!

Off to shower!

Howard – I’m guessing you didn’t get an earlier appointment ‘cause you would have told us. I hope you have good news waiting for you on Tuesday.

Cindy~ Great job on getting the 4 miles in today. It was 91 here today. Cam got up at 5:30 AM this morning to go to the YMCA where she did 10 on the TM. I could never do 10 on the TM. No, I wasn't called to fill in for a cancellation. So, I'll wait until Tuesday to deliver my films to the Podiatrist and find out my fate. I had some major discomfort today in the foot. I think if I ran on it, I'd be sorry not too long after at this point.

Lou~ Sorry the Pittsburgh Penguins took out the Flyers in 6 games (4 games to 2). I watched the third period today and enjoyed the hard-fought win.

Congratulations to Mike, Kathy and Chester for their efforts today at the CMM. I can't wait to hear the details.

Hi to Colleen, Jodi, Sara, Jen, Matt, Dave, Lou, etc.!

Congrats to Kathy:cheer2: as well as yourself:worship: and thanks for making me feel not so bad about missing the race:thumbsup2 Thought about you guys lots:grouphug: and thanks for not leaving us hanging with the results! Did you see a lot of Team 413 shirts on the course? I will be wearing a Team 413 (www.team413.org) shirt in San Diego (no offense to my WISH'ers as I think you'll understand the significance of that shirt to me at this time).

Dave
- Love, love, love Sweet Tomatoes and we always hit the one on S Kirkman Road so I was thrilled to read your report on the new opening:yay: It's easy to see how passionate you are about your work with DIS and glad you're loving it:cloud9:. Ditto on the friend thing:hug:

Howard - popcorn::Anxiously awaiting the report on Tuesday. Cam is a trooper for getting in 10 on the TM:scared:.

Cindy - Thanks:hug: and congrats on the 4 miles:yay:

Colleen - No racing necessary:thumbsup2 Yoga is great XT and just enjoy the ride:love:.

Chester - Hoping your race was great:banana:

Well, I'm supposed to do 16 today but it hasn't been the best week in the world so I'm not sure how that's going to play out:rolleyes1 At least my conscience is a whole lot lighter so maybe that'll be helping with the speed:laughing: 16 miles should give me lots of time to count my blessings and the BOTS are always at the top of my list. Thank you to everyone for your kind words and praying the next time I see y'all in Baltimore I'll have my family:love: with me.

YEs, I heard it is/was a really hilly course.

Congrats on finishing #10!!!:dance3:

Extra special congrats to Kathy on another PR on a very difficult course.:thumbsup2:yay:

Chester, how were things for you?

Mike - Congrats on finishing number 10, sorry it was a less pleasant experience than you might have hoped for.

Kathy – Amazing! Congrats!

Chester – I hope you had a good race.

Sara – I hope you were able to get in an enjoyable run.

As for me, ran 8 before the heat became too heinous. Then Matt and I headed to the National Arboretum where a ton of the Azaleas are in bloom and did some “hiking” on the “mountain” there. Very pretty. Been working from home this afternoon and was getting sweaty enough that I was forced to turn the air on.:sad2: Apparently summer decided to make an appearance before spring this year.:confused3

Cindy - WOW, 8, that's impressive! Nice job!

Anxiously awaiting race reports!popcorn::

It's hot. Too cheap to turn on air, though.

Hey Everyone: So I was taking my usual Sunday rest day, and doing some work outside. I was moving a forsythia bush in our yard, and I really pulled a muscle in my back. Man it hurts, and I can't bend over or pick up stuff. I'm really bummed. I hope I didn't hurt myself for Pittsburgh next weekend or the Muddy Buddy after that. I'm hoping it will feel better in the next day or two.

:stitch: 'Ohana Monday Mixer :stitch:

I've been thinking about how to create a hot topic for this week's mixer question. Turns out, the weather cooperated with me. :lmao:

Many areas of the country experienced above average temperatures this weekend, which made many of our weekend distances uncomfortable. (I was thinking especially of how the weather affected the racers at CMM, particularly our very special WISHers). So this week's mixer topic, which starts here on the 'Ohana thread:

What are your training/racing/recovery tips and strategies for hot-weather conditions?

Feel free to tell us how you alter your routines: when you go out, what gear you use or what you wear, how you hydrate and fuel differently, how to recognize danger signs, how you keep cool and/or recover from overheating, and when you decide to shorten/quit/take it inside.

As we all know, going out in the heat can be dangerous, so please help all of us by sharing your knowledge. :thumbsup2

Take Two: I just typed up a whole big post and hit the wrong button and deleted the stupid thing.

We are home, safe and sound. Nothing quite like getting out of the car after a 10+ hour drive home..:scared:

Chester - Sorry we didn't see you after the race. I can't wait to hear about your day.

Sara - I did see a bunch of the Team 413 shirts out there. Pretty cool.

Cindy - Nice job on the 8 miles.

Colleen - It just so happened that my 10th was also the 10th CMM. The medal is a big ol' honkin' Roman Numeral X.:thumbsup2 I might have trouble finding an XI.

Dave - I hope your back feels better. Just reinforces my opinion that yard work should be avoided at all costs.

No race report tonight.

I will say that Kathy and I took advantage of the free post-race concert last night. I forgot why I use to like to listed to country music.

Who couldn't love songs with the following lines:

"God is great. Beer is good. People are crazy."

"I got this cold beer in my right hand and in my left I got my weddin' band."

And my new all-time favorite "Nothin' like the sound of a cooler slushin' on the bed of yo' truck." http://ashtonshepherd.com/#/home.aspx

It sincerely was a lot of fun.

Dave - Checked out the blog...very nice. Sorry about the pulled muscle. I'll save that post for when Nicole tells me to do some yard work. Rest up this week.

Howard (and Dave) - Yes, the Pens won. I got to witness one of the worst collapses in Flyers history from a Club Box seat. My BiL, who is a surgeon for a local hospital that works on the Flyers, got me the free tix. At least the beer was good.

Mike - Whoa...that had to be a killer course. That's a good time for me but I know it must have been a tough course for you to run over 4 hours. The heat was rough this weekend. Good job getting through it. Nice job on the PR Kathy!

Sara - Hope you enjoyed the 16 or however far you ran.

Cindy - Good job with the 8. I struggled with putting the air on yesterday but managed to stay away from the house most of the day. It will be on today. Yes, what happened to that season called spring? We skipped it.

Hello other BOTs!

Got in 8 miles yesterday. Didn't start until 9AM and it was already hazy, hot and humid. Still ran a decent 8:47mpm pace. I'm ready for the Broad St Run on Sunday.

Lou
