~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

Just invading your thread to say Hi to Kathy, Mike and Chester. Nice to see you all on Sunday. And Mike, I would add another H to your list...Hades cuz it sure felt like it!!!!!!!!

Congrats to Mike and Kathy on the great times. I did not see Chester after mile 22 where I collapsed from heat stroke so I am not sure how he did either. Yes I did get back up and finish albeit a lot slower than I had wanted!!

Congrats everyone!!!!!!!!!!!

Holy crap...go to sleep, wake up, & people post!

Dave - Dude, that sucks about your back!! I'll say it one more time...soak in a hot tub with epsome salt...please! Let us know how you're doing! NO YARD WORK!

Mike - Glad you two are back safe. Please take a picture of that medal...does it double as a belt buckle???:rotfl: I used to like country music b4 it was infiltrated by people who write lyrics like the ones you mentioned.:sad2: No Bocephus, eh?

Colleen - Yoga today?

Chester - Waiting to hear from you....

Lou - I can't believe you ran, too, yesterday. You guys are my heros...8 miles @ a kickin' clip. I hope it's good weather on Sunday for you!

PrincessRunnerPerson - Nice way to finish the race!!!:thumbsup2 I definitely woulda cried if I had to run that far in that weather.

Sara - Did you get that LR in? What's this 413 stuff? Will it make me not hate running so much & want to train more???

On Sat. I ran 5.5 miles & called it quits...waaay too hot. Sunday??? :lmao::rotfl2: As if.

Lisa - Wow! I was worried about you being out there that long. My hat's off to you for sticking it out to the finish. I hope you're feeling decent now.

No Bocephus, eh?

What's this 413 stuff? Will it make me not hate running so much & want to train more???
Jodi - No Bocephus. There were some pretty good bands on the course playing a wide variety of music. My only complaint was the band at the top of a hill at mile 15 playing the blues. I was playing my own blues at that point. I didn't need any more help.

http://www.team413.org/templates/System/default.asp?id=24109 I'm thinking that a little Bible verse inspiration might not make you want to run more but maybe, possibly, you wouldn't be so mean.

Sara - That reminds me. You do know that it would be bad form to growl at someone on the course while wearing one of those shirts. I'm just sayin'.

:rotfl: Yes Mike, I understand one of the conditions of wearing the shirt is displaying a certain Christian example so my foulness would have to be kept to a minimum:rolleyes1. Holy smack, you finished 10TH:eek:I am WAY too impressed:worship: .

Jodi - See above. It may be inclined to make you less foul, not sure about wanting to run more:confused3

Lou - Congrats on the LR and best of luck this weekend:banana:.

I completely bagged any attempt at a LR yesterday and opted for a 3.5+ hour hike up Prospect Mtn with DH:love:. It was perfect hiking weather and no bugs to speak of so I thought it a good choice. I was planning on running tonight but it's real hot out:scared: I guess my plan for San Diego is to let Jesus pull me through the 26.2 because my training obviously isn't going to be sufficient:laughing: Have a great week guys:grouphug:

Hi, everyone! Missing you all and just wanted to say "hello". I was also curious to see if Howard had posted his MRI results here. :surfweb: Hmmmmmmmm.... I noticed he hasn't been here. Interesting. Was looking forward to seeing what you all have to say about his "plan." But I'm not sayin' anything. Nope. I'm just the wife. :rolleyes1

Hi Cam, wait, Howard has MRI results? Howard has a plan? What give's? :confused3 OK, out with it Howie-boy, or I'll come find you on Facebook.

Podiartist to Howard this morning: "You have a fracture of the third metatarsal. You'll need to stay in the aircast for 3 solid weeks and give this time to heal."

Three weeks ends on May 19 with my next appointment. May 17 is the Delaware Half Marathon I am signed up to run/walk/participate in. Ugh.:sad2:

I asked him point blank: Could I walk the half? He said he'd advise against it, but that if I stay in the boot religiously until then, if I "walked" it yes... although he wouldn't recommend three weeks in the boot with no transition into a 13.1 mile walk. I asked him if I could "walk it" in the aircast. He said no, it would most likely tear up my back from the limping motion I'd need to use.

I am planning on seeing how I feel the day before. If I have been in no pain/discomfort for a few days, I'll walk it like a Balloon Cutey in a John Bingham race. If not, I'll be kicking and screaming from the sidelines cheering everyone from WISH that comes to Delaware for the Half or the Marathon Relay.

That's the tall and skinny (which is not me) of the plan.

Just let me say that I am glad to know what is going on. I am not happy that I've been walking around on this for weeks without knowing what in the Sam Hill was going on. An answer, even if it is a bad one is better than no answer at all.

:grouphug:

Howard

Howard - :sad2: :hug:I'm sorry to hear your news, but happy that you finally have answers.

I would really, really, really, really advise against you even considering walking the DE half. You need to let your foot heal fully or else you coud be back in an aircast for much longer than 3 weeks next time. Even if it is feeling better and you have no pain whatsoever, you won't be able to know if it is fully healed.

I know it is hard to give up a race, but its much better to give up one (or two, I know you already gave up one earlier) than to give up racing for the next several months or longer.

Howard - I read your post twice to see if you actually asked for opinions about your plan. Nope, Nadda. I'm guessing that's because you know what we are going to say?

I do like the idea of you being a "Balloon Cutey" though. Just maybe not for this race.

Really Howard:rolleyes1 We know you're not seriously considering that because although some of us Bots may be more :dance3: than others, I guarantee you no one's going to tell you that's remotely a good idea:confused:. Besides, we know Cam is an extremely intelligent woman and would never let it happen:love:. Please take care of yourself and let this thing heal:hug:

Howard - Rest the heel and give yourself the summer to heal up. You want to be injury free for years to come and not have to deal with this anymore. Come fall you'll be good as new and ready to train for Goofy 2010 and the fall races.

I just took my running geekdom and crossed it with my business and marketing. Come Sunday I will be sporting Rodriguez Consulting gear for the Broad St Run. Me, Nicole and my BiL will be wearing the shirts below. I also purchased a pair of custom Adidas running shoes with the company colors and name on the side. I figured if 25,000 people (as well as a number of clients and potential clients) are going to run down the middle of my city then they can stair at my billboards along the way. I should have gone to school for marketing because I really hate engineering. I just love to market it. What do you think?

Hi Everyone, Just catching up on things in Botland.

Howard: I'm very sorry to hear about your foot. Please don't do the Delaware Half. It's really not worth risking a lenghthy recovery in order to walk one race. I'm sure it will be hard for you, but think long term.

Mike: Great job on finishing CMM. It sounds like it was a rough day. Congrats to Kathy on her PR. Congrats to you on your earlier marathon. Just 2 minutes off BQ is great.

Lou: Great job on your 1/2 marathon PR. Belated birthday wishes. Next year the Boston Marathon will be on your birthday, any hopes of qualifying and maybe running with Mike? and hopefully me? Lots of luck with the Broad Street Run.

Dave: Sorry about your back. I hope you recover in time for your races.

Cindy: Good luck in your race this weekend. I hope the weather returns to Spring by then.

Sara: Sorry to hear about your fall. It's great that you weren't seriously hurt. I hope your training for SD gains some momentum.

Jodi: Did you see there's a relay from New Haven to Boston in September? http://www.ragnarrelay.com/boston/index.php
I'm not sure that weekend works out for me, but it would be really convenient. Have you given up the idea of running a spring marathon?

Jen: Good luck to you at Broad Street.

Colleen: I'm sure the yoga will really help a lot when you do start racing again.

My training has been a bit spotty lately. Too many other things going on. I have a few races planned over the next several months, so I really do need to be more consistent. You can only rely on a strong base for so long before you need to do more work.

Have a great day everyone.
Cindy

Lou: Cool shirts and shoes-- why not use the run to advertise. Does this mean you'll be moving more slowly so that more people have time to read the shirt? :lmao:

Howard: I'll echo the advise of others and say you should probably plan on cheering to assure your foot really heals and is ok for future races. At least there is a reason for the pain and it's actually one that can heal and become a non-issue if you give it time.

Mike: Congrats of the CMM-- it sounds like it was brutal.

Howard, Howard, Howard! - OK, we know what's wrong...let's get it healed now. RUNNING 13.1 MILES 2 DAYS BEFORE YOU GET THE CAST OFF IS NOT A GOOD IDEA!! Do I NEED to make a phone call????:lmao: Besides, I'd rather see you dressed up in "Balloon Cutey" garb than running gear!:rotfl: Seriously, though, be smart & don't risk the entire summer/fall season, kay?

Does this mean you'll be moving more slowly so that more people have time to read the shirt? :lmao:.

Jen - Now that's funny...at the rate that I run, I could charge people a billboard fee! All ready for Sunday? You're running, right?

Lou - I LOVE your sparky-gear! Are you going to hand those out to us @ the next BOTRUN? I'd be proud to run with it! What's your forecast for Sunday?

Sara - When is San Diego, anyway? RU planning a work trip out there or family trip? DisneyLand?? Universal?? or just San Diego? RU psyched?:yay:

CindyLou - HEY! don't be such a stranger. No, I'm not running that marathon this Sunday - but maybe a 5k, lol. I'd never heard of that relay, that's wild! I found another one in Vermont that looks supercool - in April. I'm all for it, it's these other BOTS that are dragging their feet :sad2:.

Dave - How's your back?????popcorn:::confused: I'm worried, and hoping you'll be able to run pain-free this weekend! What else is going on? You must be so psyched for the MB!:yay:

Cindy - Running? How's Matt - boy, he got sick of us pretty quick, huh?:rotfl: You two are signed up for Baltimore, right?

Chester - What about you? All set for the MB? Is Tracy going? Can someone take some video of this, please, & put it up on youtube?? Are you sailing up there for the weekend?

Mike - Running another marathon soon? I can't believe you've already finished 10!! That's terrific :thumbsup2 Ever thought of joining MarathonManiacs???:dance3:

Not much going on here, ran 6 today, nada yesterday (in the 91 degrees :scared1:) I might run this kewl 5k on Sunday that gives away post-race maragaritas :rolleyes1...that sounds better than that marathon I was considering, right? I also am signing up for a run called the Iron Horse Half Marathon here locally, for May 31. Otherwise, not much to report :surfweb:

Cam - Were we able to talk some sense into your hubby?

Jodi - Post-race margaritas?! Definitely a better choice to do the 5K! I was fortunate enough to enjoy 2 beer stops at CMM. And the beer was COLD! Yum! Kathy told me that when she came by one beer stop they had run out of cups and people were just chugging from big pitchers.:scared1:

CindyLou - It's great to see you back! But please stop getting Jodi all riled up about these relay races. She's still P.O.'d at us about September. What races are you planning this spring? And when's your next BQ shot?

Lou - I love the gear. Have you run in those shoes before? You couldn't squeeze the little Bot guy somewhere? Maybe for the next batch.

Jen - So, are you excited about this weekend's race? BTW, how's Butch's foot?

Chester - You out there?

I ran 7 miles this afternoon in the rain. It was supposed to be an easy recovery run but I ended up in that no man's land between easy and tempo. Everything feels pretty much O.K. though. Maybe I'll do the easy miles tomorrow.

Take care all.

Good Morning Everyone: How's everyone doing this morning? I haven't run all week since I pulled a muscle on Sunday. Uuugh, it's still sore, hurts to bend over, and I'm hobbling along. Oh well... I'm committed to running the Pittsburgh Half Marathon on Sunday. I felt I was really well trained for this race. I had run 14 miles 3x in my training, and was ready for a decent run. I really wanted to go sub-2 hours, but I have no idea how it will go now. I may just take it easy, take some pictures and post them to my Facebook page while I'm running, walking, or hobbling.

Howard- Uuuuuum, what they said. Take care of yourself, and take care of your foot. You really need to heal.

Mike- Great job on your 7 miles. WTG!

Jodi- 5k with post-race maragaritas!!! Sweet!!! :thumbsup2 sounds like fun.

Hi Jen- How are you doing? How's Butch? Tell him we said hello.

CindyLou- Great to see you here again. Check in anytime.

Lou- Love the shirt and shoes. I'll be curious to hear what reaction you get during the race. Hope you get some good contacts.

Hi Sara, Cindy, and Colleen :wave2:

Sara - When is San Diego, anyway? RU planning a work trip out there or family trip? DisneyLand?? Universal?? or just San Diego? RU psyched?:yay:
Vacation is 5/23-6/1:yay:. We're staying at a timeshare in Carlsbad for a week for some beach time but we're also taking the kids to DL for a few days, staying in Anaheim and then we'll stay in San Diego for RNR on 5/31:hippie:. I am actually doing some customer visits one day and DH will take the kids to Universal that day because I don't do Universal due to my WDW loyalty:rolleyes1. We've even worked a Taylor Swift concert into the trip in SD so the DD's are loving us right now:love:. It's ALL good:lovestruc

Lou
- LOVE the merchandise:thumbsup2!! Best of luck out there this weekend:cheer2:

Jen - IIRC, you & Butch are in for Broad Street as well, rightpopcorn::? Have a great run:thumbsup2

Cindy - I'm hearing you on the 'more consistent' thing:laughing: Thanks for dropping by:hug:

Mike - Glad the recovery run was feeling fine:goodvibes.

Dave - :wizard:Please take care of the back and just do what you can this weekend!

Chester
- Did you decide to stay in Nashvillepopcorn::? Anxiously awaiting a race report!

It seems like now I am not running away from things anymore I have no desire to put in a bunch of miles:confused3. I plan on getting out tonight for 5 or so and then look to a solid LR sometime over the weekend:hippie:. Counting down the days until vacation for sure:thumbsup2
