~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

I also hope I have a chance to meet up with Howard in May if he is still coming down to St. Pete Beach.
Chester

Chester~ I am still coming to St. Pete's Beach for the conference in May. I land in Tampa at 6:30 PM on Monday, May 11 and will be there through Saturday, May 16. My flight out is at 4:40 PM. Depending on the foot, I may be running or not... either way I'd enjoy seeing you for dinner, etc. I'll get in touch closer to the event.

If travel is not restricted down to nothing soon, I'll also be traveling to Denver for a few days in June (23-26) for a conference there too.

Thanks to all my caring BOT Buddies! I will keep everyone posted on my foot saga. I will live vicariously through some of you runners out there. I am the Mayor of Sluggsville right now.

Enjoy! Have Fun! Be Good!

Howard - Be sure to remove ALL of your body piercings. You sure would hate to have that big magnet yank something out of... Well, only you and Cam would know for sure.

Lou - Good luck on your race this weekend!

I'm waking up and fueling up for my long run this morning. I didn't do anything yesterday. Gotta get back at it today.

Lou- Have a great time at your race this weekend, and Happy Birthday :bday: tomorrow!

Hi Bots,

My sister left today. So I need to get the family back into school routine the next few days. WE had a great visit.

Just popped in to say hi and I'll be back later to catch up.

Mike~ I usually try to jettison all that stuff before a race so it doesn't weigh me down. :rolleyes1 I'll be sure to remove ALL of my hardware before the MRI on Tuesday.

Lou~ Have a great race!!! :bday:

Hi Colleen!

Dave~ Thanks! Hope you had a good run today!

Hey everyone. I've been kind of distracted this week. The weather was horrible (minimal running), business/work was intense, and Harry Kalas passes away. Just watched the Phillies memorial service for Harry. Can't remember the last time I cried but I'll admit this got to me. Mike Schmidt coming back and doing a great speech and then they have to break out Bridge Over Troubled Waters as the casket is being taken out of the stadium. Nicole and I were crying like babies.

Well, I have a 20K race tomorrow (on my b-day). The weather is awesome today and should be decent tomorrow. Should be fun. I'll let you know how it went.

Lou

Hang in there Lou. It does sound like it was a rough week. You might be a little drained for tomorrow. Good luck with the race, and have a great birthday.

I had a really nice run this morning. I did 14 miles at a 9:30 mpm pace. It really helped that I biked on Thursday and rested yesterday. I had so much more energy. That will be my last really LR before the Pittsburgh half marathon on May 3rd. I'll do 7 or so next week, and then the week after that is the race. :cool1:

It has been a long week. Case in point...I go into Philly yesterday and here's how some of my day went:
9AM dental appt to get the stitches out of my mouth. Dentist said there was a little problem. She took out the stitches and it looked like I had a small area that didn't heal well. Had to get numbed up for 2 more unexpected stitches.
10:30AM - Meet with a business partner and a woman I am thinking of hiring to help with some engineering work. Wasn't expecting the stitches or needle in my mouth. I tried not to talk like Mush Mouth from Fat Albert for the meeting.
Thought I would try to run 4 miles by the river at noon because it was a nice day.
12PM - Had a couple of conference calls on my cell for about an hour before I ran. Little did the people know that I was in my running shorts sitting on the banks of the Schuylkill River.
1-2PM Ran along the river. Gorgeous day.
2PM - Get a call from doctor's office as I am just about finished running. She didn't like the results of my blood work from a recent physical. Cholesterol too high...got to start eating right. She wants to see me again next week. Not sure why but not happy about it.

Nice job with the 14 miles. I haven't run beyond 13.1 in a long time. Good luck with Pittsburgh. Sounds like you are in good shape.

Lou

Wow, you Bots have given me a lot to respond to...I need to keep up!

Howard - You may be able to remove the hardware...but it's those tattoos you should be more concerned about :rotfl2:. Good luck .

Mike - Did you manage to keep your miles down this weekend?:sad2: Can't quite comprehend this problem. As far as my flight out of Baltimore, you're one to talk...you haven't even SIGNED UP yet! (insert smilie giving the "finger").

Colleen - Glad you had a nice visit! Good luck getting your kids back into the swing for things for school next week!:lmao: Signed up for Baltimore yet?? Airfare??? Committed???

Lou - Let's just erase last week & move forward, eh? And don't go too crazy with that race tomorrow....I mean, don't expect too much from yourself, just enjoy the day. Especially since it's your BIRTHDAY :woohoo::yay:!! Make sure & treat yourself tomorrow night!:grouphug:

Sara - Glad you're signed up for Balt.:thumbsup2! You're staying until Sunday???popcorn::

Chester - Glad you see you're still employed & among the living!

Dave - What up, dude??? Nice Job on that 14 miler!!!:thumbsup2 Awesome pace!! I like your plan for Pitts., although for me?? I'd probably only run like, 5 miles next weekend! "We all float down here...."

Anyone gonna watch the Boston Marathon Monday? BTW, Mike, are you planning to qualify for this race in Nashville???popcorn:: Let's DO it, yeah?

I ran 7 today, was gonna do 8...maybe even 10, but I was way unprepared for the heat. Oh well. Yesterday I ran 3 & I think I ran 5 on Thurs. I'll prolly do something tomorrow 'cause it's supposed to rain Monday.
Pretty much bagged the idea of doing that local marathon. I mean, I know I'm not usually prepared for ANY race that I run, but I'm REALLY not trained enough to run 26.2....In fact, not counting Philly, the longest run I've had was 18 miles back in the beginning of November.:rolleyes1

I'll be watching, sort of, my sister and her husband are running it. She qualified in Phoenix a few months ago.:yay:I am very proud of her. She is 2 years younger than I am with no kids, that along with being 30 pounds lighter and a better athlete:rolleyes1 got her a BQ time.:lmao:

Mike and Jeff are going to qualify at Richmond, remember?:thumbsup2

Ouch! Get better soon!

You need to enjoy that Birthday Cake Sunday!

Happy Birthday Lou!!!

What Colleen said. I've just been cruising the last few weeks and have NO time goals for CMM.

When/where is this local marathon you've blown off?

Colleen - Enjoy getting back into the routine.

Lou - Happy Birthday and good luck on the race. Sorry you had such a tough week.

Dave - WTG on the 14 miler. Great pace.

They were running a 50 mile race right near us today so I decided to go take a little look after work this morning. I watched for a bit as the runners climbed up to the aid station at mile 11. Once I felt comfortable that I wouldn't be in the way I ran around around a little loop and then up the trail to next aid station about 5 miles away (the trail was still open to the public). It was really beautiful but man, down one ravine and back up, down the next and back up. I was completey gassed after about 5 miles! I can't fathom doing 50 like that! I ended up doing 12.75 miles and was thrilled to be done.

Still, it was cool to see what the aid stations looked like (Tons of food and goodies!) and the gear the runners used. Very intriguing...

Lou - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Best of luck at your race today:banana:

Jodi - Yes, I AM staying until Sunday at this pointpopcorn:: in Baltimore. Not sure what October will bring but that's the plan currently:laughing:

Colleen - Glad you had a great time with your sis:thumbsup2 Missed seeing you when I was in Charlotte but I made do and my time was well spent:rotfl::lmao: (That comment's for Jodi:hippie:).

Mike - I'm on FB now:confused3

Dave - Sweet job on the 14 miles:yay: I'm supposed to do the same today so I hope the running Gods are smiling down upon me today:goodvibes I'll be praying the same at Church this morning:thumbsup2

Howard - Glad to hear you're getting the MRI:hug:

Cindy - Sorry you're deluged with work lately:sad2:. Hopefully you're at least making some time to run to keep you sane:scared:.

I DO have a LR scheduled for this afternoon once my DD's are back with their Dad:yay:. It's sunny at the present moment so hoping it's the same when I head out. Looking forward to it:banana:

Cindy -Are you running the L.A.W.S. half this year?

I realize you asked me this a long time ago, but no, I'm not. I've got Frederick the first weekend in May and then am actually doing another half here in Arlington the weekend after. That's enough halfs for this spring!

Howard – I’m sorry that the foot is still giving you so much trouble. I hope that you get some answers from the MRI.

Chester, Mike, and Kathy – Good luck at CMM!

Mike – I just realized from looking at your signature that CMM will be your 10th marathon. That’s pretty impressive (or crazy maybe).

Jodi – I am in for the half in Baltimore and Matt is registered for the full. We are going to stay until Sunday and are definitely up for getting together for a drink or something after. In terms of leaving on Sat. after the race, you do realize that it doesn’t start until 9:45 or some crazy late time like that, right? Which is why you should just stay until Sunday.

Colleen – I’m glad that you had a nice time with your sister.

Lou – Happy Birthday and congrats on the PR!! I hope that it made a rough week end on a better note.

Dave – Nice pace on the 14 miler.

Sara – Glad to see you on Facebook! I hope you were able to get your run in.

Jen and anyone else I’ve missed – Hi!

As for me, as I mentioned, I’ve been very busy with work, but I did manage to run 5 times this week – 4 4-milers and then 10 today. This is the first time I’ve run farther than 8 on my own (so not counting the National Half) in a very, very long time (I think before Disney actually). So, I’m happy.
