Basically I have come to the conculsion that the Boardwalk Inn is now my favorite WDW Resort.

It sounds like someone needs a new screen name!!! :lmao:

The GF was our favorite until we stayed at the Boardwalk Inn (CL Deluxe room, that room was awesome), and we loved it so much we bought a resale DVC contract with the Boardwalk Villas as our home. It really is special!

We're all ready and waiting for photos!:hyper:
I am not sure that I can make that happen. On my computer I had to delete the program that loads up my pictures because it took up to much memory. Now I did that some pictures on my BlackBerry and I might load up them and post them.

I'll post a couple. We got home last Monday.

View from our room-we were right between Kouzzina and the Bakery:

I think I took this one from the dock:

Fantastic photos :thumbsup2 I was in that room last May - I loved that room :cloud9: can't wait until I return this November and see what I get this time.

Boardwalk is one of my favorite resorts too so I'm subscribing!

Also, I started reading at the beginning (this is going to take awhile!) but have a question - is there a character caravan still on certain mornings? It's mentioned in that first post.

Thanks!

Question about parking...if I decide to self park is the parking lot very far away from the entrance?

That was offered when they had stopped doing extra magic hours-they did the character caravan instead. Lots of folks complained about the lack of extra magic hours so they brought them back and stopped doing the caravan thing.

Well they actually have two self parking lots and the one for guests staying at the Inn & Villas is located across from the Convention Center. Now it might look like it's a fair walk into their entrance however I don't think it's long at all and nothing like compared to the amount of walking you will do around the parks. Although I have become use to it and maybe that's my reason for that answer.

Hey CR FAN! :)
Please edjumacate me a bit about the BWI...we are contemplating an upgrade to a deluxe.
As far as the Boardwalk activities-games and such...are these "pay-to-play" type games, with the typical .89 cent prizes?

Also, does the boat to DHS go "directly" to the Studios, or are there a few stops?
Family of five..any other advice?

TIA!

Yes they do have those pay to play type games where you can win prizes which are the ones you see at Carnivals and etc.

As for the boat to Hollywood Studios once it leaves the Boardwalk it will then stop at the Yacht Club/Beach Club and the Swan/Dolphin before it arrives there. However they also have a walkway which goes there and a short cut getting to it is walking through the Luna Park Pool area that saves a couple of minutes.

Thanks!
We are still trying to make up our feeble minds, got a "deal" to upgrade, but it's still a significant hunk of change. :rolleyes1
On good weather days, the walking won't be a problem, but we had some very cold days there last Christmas, (well, cold by Orlando standards-not yours!)

Still doing some homework on BWI, but I think it's our leading candidate to date...IF we switch resorts. Probably about to blow the budget here!

Thanks again!

You're welcome and hopefully you will be able to stay there.

Also last December during the evening when I was going to Hollywood Studios I took the walkway both going there and coming back during the time when the weather wasn't that warm. However as you said what they consider to be cold I thought was warm, so I didn't find it bad at all.

I'm thinking about the BWI for our next stay, but it will be our first time in an Epcot area resort, it looks beautiful though and we have been to the boardwalk to look around/shop/dine before and that was nice.

One thing though, I noticed from some room pictures, that it looks like their is no door that separates the bathroom sinks/mirror from the bedroom is that correct? Is there a curtain or door and I just missed it in pictures?

I can't imagine people liking that set-up if there isn't some type of privacy, and it might be a deal breaker for us (will have to think hard about it). We've stayed at CR and the Poly and they both had separate bathroom tub/toilets (with doors that closed) then sink/mirror area (with doors that closed to keep it private from the bedroom). With a party of all adults that need to get ready, it's nice to have some privacy for getting changed, doing hair, makeup, morning routine, etc.

Does anyone have any comments about the BWI bathroom set-up? Am I the only one who sees it as a potential problem? Maybe I'm over thinking, maybe we wouldn't mind once we are there, but it's a really different set-up and not something I'm used to.

Yes there is no door that seperates the bathroom sinks/mirror from the bedroom, although the wall kind of blocks it so you can't turn your head and see it while your on the beds. However the bath tub and toilet is behind a door next to the sink/mirror.

Thanks for the info, I will have to think about it for our next trip. Just seems like a design flaw to me, I mean even the moderates have curtains/doors to give a little more privacy, I'm surprised the BWI/BC/YC are missing this feature. :confused3

I'll add our experience, just in case it's helpful to your decision-making process.

We've never seen a curtain separating the sink area from the rest of the room in any of the deluxe resorts we've tried. It sounds like you had that type of curtain at the Poly, but our Poly rooms did not have that feature - and our most recent stay there was in January of this year. This year, we've also stayed at BC, BWI, AKL and Dolphin and none of those rooms had a dividing curtain. Nor did WL when we last stayed there in 2009. It's been a long time since we've stayed at mods, but I've seen those curtains in lots of photos of moderate resorts so I wonder if they are more common there.

I agree that it's a bit challenging to get ready (we're a family of 5!) in a deluxe resort standard room. But the other benefits of deluxe resorts - especially the Epcot area resorts - more than compensate for that!

I just booked us for our first stay at BWI. We have stayed at several of the other Deluxes, but never an Epcot resort. I am so exciteg and I finaly feel like I am ready for this trip.

I booked a Standard room standard view and for my request be that we don't get a parking lot view, anything else will be fine. But, I guess I will be fine with a Parking lot view as long as I get the ADA room I will need.

I hope you have a great time staying there.

Maybe my post wasn't clear, I have never had a curtain dividing the bathroom from the room in a deluxe resort (it's always been an actual door), I was just stating that it seemed weird that their wasn't some sort of divider. From the pictures I've seen, it seems like it wouldn't be to hard to add a door (or even a curtain if that's really all they could do). At the CR and Poly the bathrooms were closed off from the rest of the room by a physical door so I don't really get why the Epcot area resorts are any different. You are correct that the curtains are common at the moderates. Sorry if my original post was confusing.
