As of today I am officially a boardwalk front desk CM! Let me know if you have any questions :)

Congratulations!

1st question - First time for us at BWI in October. I booked a standard room - what's the best standard room view to request?

Good Luck at BWI!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS! We'll be at the BWI on October 25th!

Do you know of any renovations that will be happening? Any other tips you could offer us would be great-- !

THANKS!!!!

Subscribing. I'd love to know about any renovations, too. We'll be there the first week in November, and I was surprised when we got the last room even though we made reservations back in February.:goodvibes

I have a couple deluxe room questions.

I am thinking of booking a deluxe room and I was wondering if it would be big enough for 5 people: me, my DS (10yo), my mom, my sis and her DS (2yo).

Also, what size is the sleep sofa, regular or queen? Would it be big enough for me and my DS to share?

I haven't stayed at the BWI for about 10 years and that was before kids. Is there any place to get a quick kid friendly meal, like chicken strips or a burger? Is there a snack bar at the pool?

Do think the BWI is OK for kids?

Hi everyone we just came back from another fantastic time at the BWI.:cool1: We had a BW view and a King Size bed directly over Seashore Sweets on the 4th floor. For all of those inguiring minds about rehab this is what we were told. The entire 4th floor, CL rooms, and Lounge will be closed starting on the 7th of July. This should go about 3 wks. The target date to reopen that floor is the 26th or 27th of July, but the CM are leary about that.
The lounge is getting an over haul. Fresh paint, flat screen TV and cabinet, a kitchen makeover and possibly new furnature and rug. There had been talk about a paino and possible music from Illuminations being piped in.:goodvibes The rooms will be getting new flat screen tv's and cabinets, new furnature, bedding and a paint job. Of course, this could all change once the renovations start. :woohoo:

Can anyone tell me what kind of activities are going on the Boardwalk on Halloween night? We will be staying in the Villas on Halloween night with our two kids (DS5, DD2). I've heard that they have trick or treating. :thumbsup2 But I've also heard someone say that they saw some characters out on the Boardwalk on Halloween too! :confused3 Can anyone confirm or elaborate on which charaters we might see? Thanks!

Oh interesting! I wonder if the rest of the hotel is getting refurbished as well then?

I do have a question regarding the BWI. How long does the boat to DHS/Epcot take? The idea of walking in late summer heat (I will be in WDW August 2009) to both of these places makes me a bit leery and my boyfriend melt so if we stay at the BWI we would be either taking a cab or the boats there (cab if we want to be there for rope drop as I know to enter Epcot from BWI you enter through World Showcase, am not sure about DHS). Thank you!

MissK-Yes the rest of the floors will also go under rehab one at a time. The rooms really haven't been touched since the hotel open over 10 yrs ago. If you take the boat to DHS it takes approx 20 minutes. Once you bored the boat, it makes stops at YC/BC, then @ the S/D. The boat to Epcot once it stops @ the BWI takes maybe 10 minutes. Hope this helps.;)

Thanks for taking the time to get information about the renovation updates! :)

Thanks for your reply nascargirl! One mor question, once you get to Epcot via international gateway how long does it take to get to Future World through World Showcase if you walk normally? Trying to figure out which would be easiest on the boyfriend as he melts in hot weather. I love love love the BWI theming but the convience of a monorail resort to both MK & Epcot can't be beat.

Thanks :)

Now I'm nervous. We will be there a week before the renovations are scheduled. So will it be a dump? We were at GF right before the renovations and we didn't think it was that bad. So I am hopeful that it will be the same here.

Thanks Nascargirl!
We will be at the BWI August 19th on CL hopefully everything will be done by then~

Starting my vacation at BWI on the 22 of august. Hopefully the renovations will be done when I get there. I just thought it was a lovely place this past may and can't imagine it needs renovating. . .

We went in 2004 and even then thought it needed updating. Not renovating, necessarily. Things were in decent condition. But things felt a little outdated. For instance, the tiny little TV's. Especially after being at the Poly last year, and the large flat screen TV's with good reception, it was a stark contrast to our tiny, snowy TV that didn't get anything in clearly. I know that seems a silly thing to some people, but hubby and I like collapsing on the bed in the air conditioning and watch a little to brain-drain at the end of a long hot day. We also felt the desk and some of the other furniture felt cheaper than a high-cost hotel should have. I look forward to seeing what they add and change!

So, when do they anticipate having all the renovations completed? We tried to get a BW/water view, but everything was booked even back in February. Our travel agent said we got the last room available. Anyway, I have no idea where we'll be located. I've had good luck in the past at the Poly with garden views and have gotten the longhouse that I requested. Where do folks recommend that I request at BW?

Seems kinda crazy to me to begin renovations during the summer (i.e. busiest time of the year), but that works for me if everything will be completed by the time I arrive on November 2. :cool1:

Hi, has anyone stayed in a 4th fl. deluxe consierge room? if i understand correctly, they only have boardwalk views - no garden/quiet pool views. these rooms seem to be located directly above espn. have you heard a lot of noise from the espn or other clubs at night? thanks for any help.

hi, another question, please. does anyone know were to find the best info on bwi suites? thanks in advance
