The Boards Clearing Out For The Weekend

Is that because your work ethic is such that you wouldn't be on the Dis during office hours??? :earboy2:
I just think people get busy with stuff over the weekends, perhaps interacting with real life friends and families.
I probably was on the DIS more at work than at home before I retired. The Boards were a pretty steady source of News Story ideas for me when I was still working because there is such a diverse group of people here.

Maybe we should all try and up our game on the weekends, I guess. Weekends can be tough for me as I'm running around and doing stuff with my wife. During the week, especially during the summer when I'm off affords more opportunities to be online and interact.

I remember. I once sent a link to the CB to our local news station producer and told her that there were a lot of interesting stories and news topics, and she might want to check it out. lol

I'm likely not the only one who sees the Disboards become a ghost town over the weekend, it's already started today. I understand that people get busy over the weekends and maybe even like to take a break from being on-line, but it wasn't always this way.

Anybody else recall the days when Friday night would roll around and there was kind of an informal understanding that we'd check in on Friday night with what was going on? Good times! Everyone have a great weekend:)
For sure, Ron. Slow during the week, even slower on weekends. Fridays here, 'back in the day', was fun times. Chat was booming. I recall there was even more than one chat room. And they were moderated to a degre also. Got to know a lot of people here back then. One I think of when talk chat here was Judi (Snoopy) We had so many laughs. Even to this day. when she and I talk together, we often bring up the old days here, and always chat. :hyper2:
I remember the old boards. I couldn’t keep up.
They definitely were busy, so much more than today's boards.
The Willy J/King Shultz & Low Key threads were usually hilarious on weekends. This board isn't the same without them.
Willy and Jason, a pair made in heaven. I know where Jason is, but, Willy, if your ears are ringing, please stp by and say hello. We miss you.
They are missed for sure! There were a number of regulars who made this a fun place to be
Many, Ron. So many are gone, on their own, or otherwise. :(
Actually my ignore list has sorted that issue ou
With the heavy duty questioners out of sight for me, the short boards look even shorter with the pages not back-filled with non-ignored posters. Most often, page 1 here is about 15 posts long. If a lot of questions, even shorter sometimes.
I'm stuck with the phone but I hate it.
The phone was a super PITA before I became aware of using Firefox as my dis browser on the phone. Firefox is like an app for me, just for the dis. No ads. AdBlock works fine on my desktop/laptop, but did not do the job on the phone. It was really impossible to view this site on the phone until I installed Firefox. Now it is fine.
I also remember the chats and how much fun they used to be. I would look forward to those nights and we spent so much time laughing.
Chats were great, MJ. I remember that for the longest time I though Michelle was married to Alex. :lmao:

Yes, I was "tipped" that the Disney Magic was stuck at Castaway Cay by posts on the cruise line forum. I called Disney Cruise Line and they confirmed it. That was before it made the main stream media and Associated Press.

Yep, and the younger demographic isn't overly interested in message boards that aren't easily navigatable on a phone. Not sure what I'm getting wrong, but I *hate* using Disboards on my phone--it's awful. Am I missing out on an app? I use my laptop less and less and visit sites on Reddit/Facebook, etc often and tons of people are there on those Disney sites.

I think this is what it is mostly.....think crowd around here are Gen X and Baby Boomers....the younger generations aren't into message boards.

Personal use of the internet is a big no-no at work. I am never on the DIS during working hours. I may or may not check during my lunch breaks but data is horrible around where I work so there has to be "hot" thread for me to even try.

I'm literally on my feet all weekend running around doing errands and that sort of thing.

Unless I have some sort of out of the house plans I am home most of the weekend, other than maybe the hour I am grocery shopping.

I'm on here often but sometimes I feel I unintentionally annoy people with my random soccer threads and therefore maybe I should be on the board less. :confused3

So… what was the most interesting thing that happened to you today? All of you out there.

eta - I’ll go first.

Went to the grocery. Tried to buy the Kettle Corn on sale. None left. Went home, still craving it after dinner, decided to see what could be done with ingredients in the cubby. Hmm not bad. pretty good! Hopefully even better next try. Such an eventful day lol.

I agree - it’s really sad how many left and went to FB - I don’t do FB - I really love the DIS - but it’s really dead - I often can’t sleep and there’s nothing going on here - used to be very active night & day - you just couldn’t keep up with it - so much helpful information - people chatting about everything - helpful stuff about health - everyday life - Lots of Disney help - Figment with all his helpful Ticket knowledge - Jason and music - and always someone to chat with ! Games to play !
Now you can’t always find cruise meet ups - do FE or anything - everyone wants it in FB - they may start on here then move it to FB - and if your not on FB they shun you
DIS Peeps don’t do that !!!
So I’m always here - if y’all want to chat !!

Dan, was it my imagination or for a very short time as there a Dis app. I swear I loaded an app on my phone and then the boards were very easy to navigate and read on my phone. Then it was gone. I swear I'm not dreaming about this!

I do notice it's quieter here on the weekends than weekdays, but I also wasn't here until about 2006, so I don't remember really old times to compare it to.

One of the things I love about the DIS, though, is that the conversation is kind of slow-paced. I like having time to think about what I want to say before I say it. In real-life conversations, I'm often the quiet one getting overshadowed by louder personalities.

For what it’s worth, I recently joined and love it. Been here only less than a year and I don’t have Facebook, so maybe I’m the exception-.

Folks on this board tend to be mostly nice and helpful. My wife works the Facebook side of the house. Seems like that group is more like the gun slingers of the old west. Always looking for a fight. Now, just to be clear I’m not old enough to personally remember that!

Not sure if you're wife is on any Disney Facebook groups but they seem to be heavily moderated to me. That said, I don't find them particularly helpful for trip planning. It's just too fast and too brief with details. Lots of first timers on those groups though, (as well as Reddit), looking for advice and it's hard to give detailed info in that format as well as it's very hard to be new and research through those platforms for information. I find The Disboards are great for that. Most often on Facebook and Reddit they just tell new people "get a trip planner, you'll thank the gods" or something like that. When I recommended the The Dis to some first-timers I got "Oh my God those people are weirdos over there and it's run by a travel company so you don't want to do that..." when all they do is recommend a travel planner.
