My husband had it done....they called his name and I settled in to read the newspaper... a few minutes later he came back out. I said great what did they take your blood pressure and weight! He said no I am done. He said he didnt even know they were doing it. The first day he was up and about doing stuff which was a mistake because he ended up with swelling and being sore. So make sure he lays down and rests. He was a little sore but went back to work after three days to a very physically demanding job and he was fine

My dh had it done and never used ice or peas. It seemed like a breeze (well at least to me). The one thing he says about it is that a calypso version of Careless Whisper was playing while the Dr. was performing the procedure. He told the Dr. he should be laying on a beach with a mixed drink in his hand instead of having another man fondling his privates. Now every time he hears Careless Whisper he has flashbacks.

We paid a $30 co-pay and insurance paid the rest.

This made me LOL! It seems as if Caribbean Queen is always playing in doctors' offices for us.

When I had mine done, I was fortunate that I had no complications. I was 23 or 24 at the time (forget if it was before or after my birthday), so I'm not sure if it's worse if you are older.

I did learn that Valium is my friend.

I basically spent the afternoon asleep and was back at work the next day. I was a little sore for a day or two, but that's it.

I didn't even know my DH had it done, until a few days later. He is a big baby normally, but said it was no big deal (for the record, I had been asking him to get one for a couple of years and he kept refusing - thought it would hurt, so it wasn't like he was being sneaky, he was just surprising me)

Thanks all for your responses. Made me feel better, although, I don't know why I'm nervous for him - it's a rather routine procedure.

I'm picking him up this afternoon for it, so I can drive him home. We've been sleeping poorly for the past few nights, so I think he's really looking forward to the valium-induced sleep and his 3 day weekend
