We went to the World from Friday, Aug. 29 to Monday, Sept. 1 for my birthday. Just me and my husband, no children. Here is what we felt in a nutshell:
*The magic was still there for us! We had a fabulous time!
*The crowds were large on Sat. and Sun., but were smaller Mon. Even the boat pilot back to the Poly said the numbers were way up from what Disney had expected. I think he said the park count on Saturday was 55 thousand.
*We avoided EE and went to another park at opening. We found everything to be a very short wait until about 11 or 12, when the crowds became large.
*It was hot and humid, but very managable if you take a break in an air conditioned ride. We found sit down meals invaluable for re-energizing ourselves.
*It did not rain at all!
*Most of the cast members where very helpful and curtious.
*That musty odor is everywhere....monorail, water boat attractions, and our hotel room (it was awful!). We stayed on the first floor at the Mighty Ducks, and it definitely smelled like a locker room! However, we did have a king bed and a free fridge because it was a room designed for those with disability.
*The birthday pin was AWESOME! People I didn't know, Cast Members and even guests, were constantly wishing me happy birthday all weekend long. I felt like a princess....it really added to the magic.
*Definitely tell the CM who makes your PS's that it's your birthday. The CM I worked with was awesome and made a notation at each restaurant. And at each restaurant we received something special: a cupcake, a mini cake, a piece of cake, a birthday song, confetti, or some other special recognition. there were balloons in our room and a card signed from Mickey. I was truely SPOILED!
I'll write a trip report in the near future with more details. This birthday will remain the most magical ever in my heart!
