The Bahamian Rum Runners! May 18, 2012 - 5 Nights on the Magic!

OMG! I havent even thought about magnets yet. my wife and i were going to make some magnets and make a FE with my 3yo son during the winter when we are stuck inside. plus it will build up excitement when we get closer to sail. what ive been obsessed on is the stupid pins on ebay. we now have 4 lanyards (even though there are only 3 of us) and 7 pins.:confused3

Maybe you can help me out!! I've read about this whole pin trading deal (yes, I'm a major newbie! lol) and I'm very intrigued!!! What's the deal? How does it work? Do people HAVE to give up their pins if asked for them? I was thinking about getting a lanyard for myself and start buying some pins, but I'm not sure where to begin or how it works exactly so I've only been "thinking" about it. :confused3 :thumbsup2

Also, anybody have a good trick or easy directions on how to make an FE? I am sooooo not sewing capable (although I try, and usually fail!) but I really want to make a cute one, which of course, I have pictured in my head, but probably won't turn out anything like it!! :sad2:

I'm useless with the pin trading stuff... the only pin I have is one of the pufferfish from Nemo in a plastic bag... I got it off a DVC salesman because he was trying to make the sale! (It worked!)

As for the FE instructions, there's a few helpful posts in the FAQ sticky on the main forums page.

This one shows a few examples of ones made differently: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=30302583&postcount=609

And this one has instructions for a no-sew FE:

I'm a Disney newbie too, but I've been reading about the pin trading online. I think cms have to trade with you if you ask but I'm not sure if it is only at specific pin trading ev3nts or not. I know that they have a specific time and place listed in the navigator. I also read that cms with green or teal lanyards are only supposed to trade with kids under 12. This is stuff I read online I have no first hand knowledge.

welcome aboard!:sail:

Well........ it's official! I just put a deposit down on two cat 5 connecting staterooms!!!!!

:banana::cool1::banana::cool1::banana::cool1:

btw - count us in on the fish extenders. Not sure if we will just have one with four pockets on one room or one on each room with 2 pockets.

we are on deck six midship.. just a few doors down from where we were on our first cruise on the Magic

we're on deck 6 also :) so here's a question about the FE's..

do we give gifts to everyone, every night? or is it per room every night? or is it even every night? i'm so clueless, but have already started working on gifts! :rotfl: :cheer2:

we are all the way in back on 6. if we are all on deck six the whole fe thing is gonna be easy!!

I'm not sure how this whole FE thing works. I don't think anyone was doing it when we cruised back in 2006.

Maybe someone else with some experience with it will chime in and educate all of us.

So.... party on deck 6 huh? ;):dance3:

We have done the Fish Extenders twice. The last cruise I was on, I was "holder of the list". Most people dropped off one present during the cruise. Dropping off a present a day would be a lot of work. We only had 30 participants, but I had a bag o' goodies for everyone.

Walking that ship is hard with the bags (different floors, lots of corridors) so I'm glad I did the party-gift bags. We did Pirate theme so I made sure I delivered them before pirate night. I loved seeing everyone's door and decor.

I did some things for the kids.... something for teens... then something for the adults.

Some participants made memory books, another made this beautiful bag with the cruise name and date on it. Even another made CDs of music for everyone to enjoy. And there was always candy! We had participants from Switzerland and they brought CHOCOLATE.

Happy weekend everyone.

Making one gift/s for each family participating seems like plenty to me - otherwise if we did one each night that would be alot to carry on and quite a bit of expense. I suggest we keep this fun and not a drain on anyone's budget.
