THE AMAZING RACE 15, Season Starts 09/27/09

Either Mika has never really watched AR or she thought that maybe they wouldn't do high stuff. Each season is a little different, some have high air stuff more than others. Some have grosser eating challenges than others.

The weird food is the main reason I could never do AR or Survivor. I just wouldn't be able to do it!

What is interesting, is that AR is VERY GOOD at modifying how and when they do these various tasks. Sometimes it is a detour and a choice of which to do and then both teams can agree on the lesser of two evils.

The Roadblock is written so coyly that if it is a blind roadblock where you can't see any clues as to what will occur (like seeing the boats for boating to the yacht)--a wrong choice can be made and that choice must be declared before opening the rest of the clue. I have always wondered if they could take a hit and switch team members, but that has never happened before so I don't know if they have the option to do that or not.

Does anyone know if they eliminated the quantity requirement for roadblocks? I remember in seasons past that there had to be so many roadblocks completed by each team member to prevent teams from always having one person do it as happened in the beginning. But it just doesn't seem to be a rule any more.

I was wondering about that, too. I liked it when the same person couldn't do all the roadblocks.

I did, too.

Take Maria and Tiffany, for example. Doesn't it seem like Maria makes Tiffany do EVERYTHING? I've never seen such a helpless grown woman (Maria is also the one with the rolling backpack. lol)

I've posted for years on the other AR threads, but have taken a self-imposed break from the DIS for awhile, but I had to come back to find this thread after last nights episode.

Canaan behaved like a saint in my opinion last night. I know how completely frustrated I can get with my 3 year old and there was no MILLION DOLLARS on the line. Especially when the globe trotters arrived and they knew it was either go down or go home........so frustrating for Canaan. We all know people like that who have led the most sheltered of lives....I am glad that cost her! They should show this video to all the "helicopter" parents out there to let them see what their children will end up like, :lmao:

I thought last night was a good espisode! About time because the last couple of weeks of AR and Survivor have been so dull!

I love Father/Son team Gary and Matt. Matt knew what a hookah was and Dad saying that's isn't what we called them in my day.

I was cracking up when I heard that statement. I would probably hear the same thing from my mom!

I couldn't have done that water slide. I've been to the top of Summit Plummet and I couldn't go down. Million dollars or not, I couldn't have done that slide.

Now, having said that, I wouldn't have been wearing floaties, nor would I have carried on so much. I'd have told my partner, "sorry, this is where I draw the line."

That, my friends, is why I will never apply to be on TAR. I know my limitations... no big water slides, no bungee jumping, no scaling down buildings, no jumping out of planes.... etc. For me, it's about control. I wouldn't feel that I'd have any control of those situations.

I haven't done Summit Plummet yet, but that is mostly due to not wanting to wait. I plan on trying it at some point in the future though. I hope I don't chicken out. For a million dollars I would be down the slide in 2 heartbeats!

I agree with ya. I would love to know if her hissy fit lasted a half hour or an hour and a half. Once she started the I can't do this, I would have skipped it and taken the penalty. That roll of the dice, I could swallow that pill better, then just her flat out refusal to go and letting them pass us by.

You had better believe that if I was trying to make up time and I came up on a team with a wishy-washy player, I would do the exact same thing the Trotters did. All Mika needed to was just let go of the bar, close her eyes and it would have been over before she knew it. Once she got out of the way, I love how both the Trotters ran and shot down the slide. Even if Mika had gone done, once the Trotters were there with them, Mika and Canaan were done. Mika wouldn't have been able to out run BE and FT.

The guys are going to have to step up their game next week.

I was hoping that she went because I would love to see them get outrun after all of that.

I do not like water slides, whenever we go to waterpark I try not to go but at the amazing race you bet I would. That girls was so annoying, she did not belong in the show, I felt bad for her boyfriend.

I hope she is kicking herself after watching that episode last night.

I completely agree with you she was a loon in the way that she handled it and for Canaan's sake I hope he RUNS for the hills because this seems to indicate how she will react in any crisis situation in their future.

I listen to Reality TV Podcast RFF Radio every week when TAR is on. I can't wait for this interview. I can't see them still being together after that episode. I think he was just being nice at the mat.

::yes:: But those parents will say "not my kid!".

I was also wondering about how they choose the participants. Has anyone here applied before? Do they ask on the application what your biggest fears are? Maybe that's how they choose their applicants to get a variety. It would be so boring to have all the teams just whizzing through the challenges. It makes good tv to have some that balk or make a scene at a challenge.

They actually had a casting call a few years ago at our local fairgrounds. About 3,000 people showed up. You had about 10 seconds to make an impression - if you were unique enough to get their interest then you would make it to the next round of auditions. No one in our area at that casting call made it on to the show. DH says we should audition every time the show comes on. I don't think our marriage would survive it - he drives me nuts when we are traveling!

Great episode! I think sliding down that water slide was the easiest AR task ever! But I guess if you needed "floaties" in that shallow water, it would be scary.:confused3 I take it she has never seen the show before. LOL

This is very uncharacteristic of me to say (not really nice:rolleyes:) but any adult who tries out for TARand wears water wings and still can't go down the slide for a million dollars knowing it will be on national tv kind of deserves some taunting!

But I guess if you needed "floaties" in that shallow water, it would be scary.

I don't see how the floaties would help at all. First, there is about an inch of water in the slide so they are of no help there. Second, the whole point of the water at the end is to absorb your momentum and stop you so they would do more harm then good. Your body would want to continue under the water but your arms would be fighting it, and physics always wins. The water looked pretty shallow so it isn't like not being able to swim would be an issue.

I can't imagine trying to go down that slide being both afraid of water and heights :scared1:

But then I know my limitations and would never try to on on AR ;)

I didn't care for either of them... Him for trying to force her down the slide nor her for the 2 yr old behavior. I can't imagine them staying together as a couple very long....
