THE AMAZING RACE 15, Season Starts 09/27/09

I dont care, but in my opinion, she should have told that SOB where to go after he ditched her. She was an emotional wreck. She said time and time again that she couldnt go down that slide, and what did he do? He left her there. If that had been me, I would have been cussing him out all the way to the matt. He left her when she was at her lowest. In my opinion, that was really messed up.

Looking back at the clip, he probably thought that after he went down the slide, she would follow. But it just showed that they were not compatable. For both of there sakes, I hope they are no longer together.

I thought at one time when Mika was sitting down Caanan was trying to pry her arms off the bar above. I have to admit getting caught up in the moment, I would have tried to shove my partner down too.
I was afraid it would backfire on the GT by teasing her. I could just see her going down just to spite them. Glad she did not, but that would have proved motivation for a lot of people.
I am surprised no one has mentioned how irritating it was for Erica to yell and gritch at Brian at the glass assembly. She just sat back and did virtually nothing but kept yelling to him to figure it out. Brian also did the rowing challenge AND had to do all the math for the gold part. She is not proving to be that strong a partner.

I was saying the same thing about Erika. She does NOTHING and her hubby is always expected to do all the work.

Actually, I was hoping that she would go down the slide. It would have been an advantage for her personally to face her fear and conquer it instead of giving into her fear. Now, she let the fear get the better of her *and* her relationship with her BF. I will be interested to see them at the Elimination Station to see if they are still togther.

I noticed that! I was wondering why she wasn't comparing every hookah to the example one-by-one. Instead she was just whiny ...

All the Trotters were doing was trash talking. As one of them said, "it's a game"
Look at all the greats of any sport, they trash talk.

I give credit to the boyfriend for not pushing her down the slide, she could have got injured.

Looks like the next show is in Europe.

He was a jerk????

She's there to be in a race and he was trying to encourage her.

I think he had every right to be pi$$ed at her and every right to take the enjoyable way down.

If it means they can't be together--that's fine.

But she's not exactly the angel in this one.

I have phobias--a couple of intense ones and I communicate them in a respectful manner so that I am understood. Me having any work in a doctor's office involving a needle is downright hilarious if you are not me.

But it is a necessary evil at times and I simply alert the staff of what we need to do so that I get through the procedure conscious.

I have passed out twice and the last time was when I was 17 and to this day I still do what that doctor has suggested.

I have avoided passing out--but I have had some moments that were questionable.

I don't whine, I don't throw a hysteric fit--but we do what we need to do so that I can get through it in one piece. The person who is working with me has to have a conversation with me about nothing medical. It puts them on the spot--but we try to come up with something and it has worked like a charm. The only person who was mean about it in my life was one anestesiologist who administered an epidural. He treated me like a baby over my simple request and said if I passed out, then I couldn't get the epidural.

Couldn't make the jerk comprehend that I was warning him as I do of all medical staff the possibility so that they would be able to protect me if I collapsed (since you have to be upright to get the dumb thing).

Mika's unwillingness--oh my heavens! I understand the phobia--but her bratty behavior was over the top. She either had PTSD--which would explain the age level of her reaction and would be COMPLETELY UNDERSTANDABLE if that were the case....or she's just used to mommy and daddy never encouraging her to do anything that was the tiniest bit uncomfortable for her.

I don't blame Canaan one bit. Temper or not temper--her behavior was completely inappropriate.

I don't think he was a jerk at all. I think her behavior made his seem worse than it was. Dealing with people and phobias isn't fun and she should have done a better job disclosing that fact in their brief relationship and not have agreed to go on the dumb race.

I completely agree with you she was a loon in the way that she handled it and for Canaan's sake I hope he RUNS for the hills because this seems to indicate how she will react in any crisis situation in their future.

I was so annoyed with Mika that I forgot about Erika.

Every time her husband suggested something, she cast it off as unimportant.

Please honey--the tiara didn't travel with you, please stop acting like a princess.

I don't mind Erika. I'd probably be just as frustrated. Especially in that heat. She was whiny, but not stomping around acting like a child.

Water slide-some of the teams flew down the slide and went underwater. The couple Miss America/and her husband, they sat up at the end of the slide and didn't even go underwater. My dd does this somehow, and just gently plops in the water. Me-I come full bore down water slides, do few tumbles under the water, usually I end up with a nose full and totally disoriented. This was my last experience with the water slide at the Beach Club.
That sounds like me. The last time I went on one of those big, steep slides was years ago at Wet & Wild and I will never do it again. I had water up my nose, I was disoriented and I have no idea what happened to my bathing suit, it certainly wasn't where it was supposed to be! Very embarrassing.

Next week's pit stop is in the Netherlands :).

Speaking of which ... last night's dinner:

* kafta - pan fried meatballs made from ground lamb/ground beef with parsley, onions and spinach.
* cucumber yogurt sauce with mint and garlic
* green beans with sesame oil, sesame seeds and garlic
* rice with saffron and onions

I got off track a bit from purely Arabic food ... it was a more of a Middle Eastern combo.

Now I have to look up Dutch cuisine ...

I think the mother/daughter team from a few seasons ago that got lost in India had a 4 hour penalty. It could have been longer but it was a severe penalty.

Erika annoyed me last night also. Her saying she can't see why it matters what hose to put on the hookas was just stupid. Stop and look around and try to figure it out before whining and giving up.

I'm so glad Mika is gone. What a baby. I wouldn't care if one of the tasks was skydiving, I would gladly do it for nothing let alone the chance for a million dollars.

If I were Canaan the relationship would have been over at the mat. I have no patience for whiny babies and that is exactly what Mika was on the slide. There were other teams that were afraid of heights and of water but they sucked it up and did the challenge. If you aren't willing to do anything then the Amazing Race just isn't for you.

I was a bit surprised at how bad some of the teams were at the gold detour. The brothers had a calculator and couldn't figure out that you divided the wanted price by the price per ounce to get the number of ounces needed. I'm pretty sure I learned long division in 4th grade and that was pretty much a rael life4th grade word problem.

I think Meghan and Cheyenne are becoming my favorites for the race. They seem pretty level headed and think out what they are doing. I think their overall level of calm will help them in the race. Now that Mika is gone there aren't any teams I don't like. The poker players have been helpful and have turned me around. They could have easily given bad information to the brothers but yelled out the right number even before they finished the challenge themselves.

I love the extra comic twist the editors put in.

Every time someone says--"they've got to be right", "we did everything right", or "I can't figure out what it could be", they throw in a shot of the problem.

Man I was up on my feet when that whiner finally was told to step aside last night!!! Regardless of what the other guys taunted her with, she was NOT going down that slide. If she didn't rip down it the minute the KNOWN last place team came up behind her, it wasn't going to happen. That really should've been enough motivation for most people.

I don't see them staying together after this. And I do believe it will bother her for a LONG time - Canaan too for that matter.

Erica annoying me too last night - hello!! They are nitpicking every little thing on those hookas - why would something "not really be that important"? Duh! She was very unhelpful last night but at least she went down the slide even though she was also a little frightened.

My favs now are the father/son and the globetrotters. I think the other blonde couple are nice and all but for some reason I just can't root for them. :confused3

I totally disagree with this. It's the same principle as what you do with a toddler who is throwing a tantrum - you refuse to give it any more of your attention. I would have left her butt there long before.

I was saying the same thing about Erika. She does NOTHING and her hubby is always expected to do all the work.

Yes! I my disgust with Mika's tantrum I forgot all about Erika. She seems to have lots of "I don't do ____" stuff too. He carries almost all the weight on that team.

I like Meghan and Cheyne a lot now. I hope either they or the father/son team wins it all.

I don't know about Erika's attitude last night. It was 130 degrees. Even in the shade, I would have been just as crabby if not witchy. I don't do heat well.

Melt in your mouth butter cookies :thumbsup2

Looks like Erica's going to be extra whiney next week.

So glad that the Globetrotters are still in the game. It was a hoot to see Big Easy (is that his name?) dog paddling the boat. And he just about filled up the slide.

I can understand Mika's fear of going down the slide. That said, I wouldn't have been so whiny about it. Just would have said, No! I'm not going down!. It looked like she was about ready to go once when Canaan was sitting around the corner. I don't go down those kind of slides but I would have in this case.

Either Mika has never really watched AR or she thought that maybe they wouldn't do high stuff. Each season is a little different, some have high air stuff more than others. Some have grosser eating challenges than others.
