THE AMAZING RACE 15, Season Starts 09/27/09

Realitytvworld.com has an interview up with Canaan and Mika. They said they were out on the lake two weeks before the race and there was a six foot waterslide that took Mika 30 minutes to go down! Someone joked about a waterslide taking them out of the race!

I wonder if they'll hit TAR's favorite destination this year...India. :headache:

I hope not. :rolleyes1

What the heck is wrong with India? It's on my "short list" of places to visit. I find it fascinating.

But ... you have have nothing to fear. They will visit the Netherlands, then Scandinavia and then Eastern Europe before they go back to the US. No stops in India.

I am glad they are going to Europe and Scandinavia. I have nothing against India, I have a close friend born there, but they have spent a lot of time in Asia last year and this year so I am looking forward to some new places. It doesn't hurt that Norway is now on the top of places I want to visit after knocking out Italy last year.

Just a quick question about Mika being on AR with all her fears -- several contestants on past Survivors have said that they were "recruited" by producers instead of having applied -- could that be the case for this couple? It was always the prettiest people, and they never did very well.

We're planning to go to Italy for 2010 Spring Break :).

Pardon this interruption

Where are you going? I think you'll have a lot of fun over there.

I was there for 2 weeks in May 2008 and it was so much fun. I went with one of my friends from High School and we did a week of cycling Tuscany and a week of exploring Venice, Florence, and Rome. My favorite city over there by far was Siena. Cycling Tuscany was on the top of my travel to do list and now cycling/hiking/kayaking the Norwegian Fjords is the top.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled AR15 thread.

Mika & Canaan are still together...they were on Bonnie Hunt today. She tried to go down the fireman's pole that Bonnie has on her set AND........

SHE DID IT!!

The water wings had a very good purpose. Watching Canaan blowing them up while trying to convince her to slide was so funny......gosh how old is she...that was just pathetic and embarrassing. She also mentioned she wasn't competive or played sports on teams and she couldn't recall ever running....has she spent her life in a box? I'm starting to feel sorry for her
Next whiney to go Erica......I'd think her hubby would get sick of doing it all.
Love the globetrotters....while the destination in this case is important they are also enjoying the journey the most.

Goodness - I hate waterslides and heights but I would have been down in a second. For a chance at a million dollars?!? At one point it really looked like Canaan wanted to just shove her down it.

It may be fascinating but I'm tired of seeing the race go through India every season.

I think that they should have an AR go through the United States. I know they had one a number of seasons ago. We'll see what some of these people know about their own country. The start and finish should be WDW!!!::yes::::yes::::yes::

There is probably to many legalities with WDW.

When they did a show that stayed in the United States, to many complained the show was to boring. I actually really liked it. Plus they said, to much leaked out when it was just in the states. I read a long time ago, that The Amazing Race is recognized world wide, and they are having a harder time, keeping it low keyed, so that people don't try to help the contestants.

They are going to be in Norway Sunday, so maybe India will be missed this year.

Part of the race IMO is putting people in places/situations where they are not comfortable - and that's much harder to do in the USA. Part of the race is seeing how well they handle dealing iwth other cultures, language barriers, different foods and even geographical issues (extreme heat, altitude, etc). The pressure of running the race and being with your partner 24/7 is there regardless of where the race goes, but they certainly use the diverse locations to add additional challenges.

I think it was considered "boring" b/c it was families and that limited the exciting types of challanges.

As for filming at WDW. Since ABC owns them, the chance of them letting CBS in the door are pretty slim.

Even with the legalities and logistics with starting or finishing at WDW - it would be cool!

I was into TAR until a few years ago but there are plenty of places for TAR to go to here in the US to challange the contestatnts.

I would LOVE for them to do that.

But it isn't a legal issue--it's a competitor issue. ABC isn't letting CBS set foot on property.

The one thing absent in the US is a language barrier which provides half the fun.

The difficult to pronounce locations even when printed in "english".

I just found out that ABC actually owns the rights to TAR and sells the show to CBS. If this is true or not, I don't know.

I also found out why they go to India every year-it is the favorite place that Phil Keoghan, the host, likes to go to!
