The All-New What's For Dinner Thread!!(recipe index in OP)

I'm happy to hear that your friend loves her CRV, I hope I have good luck with mine.:goodvibes Have a great time!!!!!

Good luck Liam!!!!! Hope your tummy is better Mom.:)

I have trouble finding them too. I don't know how Lauren does it. If she can provide anything for me to post on the first page, I'd be more than happy to help!!:goodvibes

Try using google, put in disboards and what your looking for, I have had pretty good luck with that when searching for stuff.

DH passed the physical test this morning with flying colors! :cool1:

Next up is background checks and polygraph test. He's a boring guy with an honest background so I think he'll be okay. They are already down to about 15 guys!

That's great news Aimee!!:thumbsup2

Here's that Marinade ( I think it was listed as London Broil Marinade). It's easy & good! Good Luck to DN!!

Vietnamese Marinade by Lauren

1 cup Soy Sauce
1 cup Vinegar (any type...I like apple cider)
1 cup Sugar
alot of crushed garlic...at least 8, if not more

Mix together and marinate for a long long time!!!

I'm having trouble finding recipes in the old threads.

Lauren & Kathy, Is there anything we can do with that? If Lauren has figured out which thread has original page # to page #, could we put that on the 1st page.? Am I making any sense here?

OK, not to cause confusion, but I think this is a different one than Laura has been making. The link I posted earlier is a bit different...the one above was my original one...does that make sense.

As far as finding the older recipes...it is just hit or miss and alot of searching. I would be happy to help search whenever needed. :)

I have posted too many marinades I guess!

I have to try Master Mason's way of searching...that sounds like it would work perfect! Thanks! :thumbsup2 Does it work with the older recipes?

OK, off to make pina coladas and the wings. I think I am going to make a veggie lo mein to go with.

Hope everyone is having a good day!

I finalized my dinner and am about to start cooking. John is having the steak with blue cheese butter like I said before, but I changed my chicken to a lemon-marinated cheese stuffed proscuitto-basil wrapped chicken. I am also making the curried roasted sweet potatoes that we all like so much, corn on the cob, and fresh green peas.

I just had to read this before heading out for the game where we'll probably eat ballpark food.....:faint:

Hello all, long day here. I am so tired and really need to go shopping but really don't feel up to it. Will probably just stop at the liquor store up the street from my house and go lay down in my nice cold house. As for dinner I really don't know, probably something light, had kind of heavy fatty foods of breakfast and lunch.

See you all later.

Hi just a quick update:

DN lost in 10 innings 2-1. I have no nails left after that one. We were all very proud, it was an incredible game. Temperature was 105 in the sun.

Thank you all for your support, on to the summer league now!

Great news! Continued good luck as the process continues!

You're right. The one in the link you posted is the one I use. For those of you who don't like to use a whole cup of wine because it is one less you get to drink ;) , I often just halve the soy sauce, the wine and the brown sugar, but still use the full tsp of ginger and garlic, and the 3 tbsp oil. It works fine. That is enough for the 2 pounds of wings I usually make.

I'm sorry the team lost, but it sounds like a great game. She must have pitched terrifically. She should be very proud for a good season.

Liam's team lost too. However, he finally got his hit and his sundae. :cool1: It wasn't the prettiest hit, or the hardest, but it was effective. I told him every hitting slump ends with some crazy, bizarre hit.

Dinner was chicken tacos. The kids had their sundaes and I had sangria. :thumbsup2

Hello my friends....I have not been very good about posting, I hope you can forgive me and know that in a couple of weeks I will be back to normal. It is tough with Dad here as my schedule is very messed up, and he is always on the computer. Plus end of school stuff is really crazy.
I am thinking I won't get a chance to post much over the next two days either as tomorrow we have visiting hours for Kris' grandma from 2-4 and 7-9 and Monday at 11am we have the funeral then a get together at my inlaws afterwards. I am really not looking forward to the next two days...I am pretty much funeral(ed) out and I still have my mom's service in the fall....:(

Please know that I think of all of you and miss you all and the "talks" very much.....I will find a moment to catch up and post to everyone by Tuesday evening. Tonight Kris is finally hooking up the new dishwasher and we seem to always have big leaks when we do our own plumbing....so I am off to pour a glass of wine and hold a bucket.......maybe I should pour a bucket of wine and hold a glass, ;).....I hope everyone of you are doing well and enjoying your weekend!

Today we are going to my ILs for my husband's grandfather's birthday. We will have leftover black bean soup for lunch as I am not sure what we will be eating over there. I made a cherry dump cake to take and found a vegetable plate at Bi-Lo for $9. I can handle that!!

Strength and sympathy sent your way.
Hope the installation went without a hitch.

DN shed some tears over the loss which was heartbreaking. But she knows she had a highschool career most kids don't (they won championship last year and she made All-state as a junior, fingers crossed for All-state this year too)

Congratulations to your slugger!!!! :cheer2: Way to go Liam!!!!!:cheer2:
You have a wonderful family, and you are a great Mom. Your family reminds me alot of mine, we love our time together and we love our food!
You are luck to have a sister which you are close to, I am an only girl.

Great news, pixie dust pixiedust: for his success!

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Yum, love lo mein...have you posted this recipe? If you dont mind I would love it. Anyone have a Pad Thai recipe to share, I would love that too.

Burgers, dogs and salad today. It is Kady's recital day and she is in two shows. This should take most of the day and then a little cook out in teh sweltering weather.

Hope you didnt melt at the cookout, how was the recital?

WFD- marinaded drumsticks, egg noodles or pasta salad, broccoli, salad

Ann

Good Morning!

Wow- miss a day miss a lot here!

Wendie- please know that I am thinking of you and your family today. You are one of the strongest women I am privileged to know.

Anne- You must be so proud o your niece. The pressure on a pitcher is enormous. I have so much respect for the young athletes, their commitment to their sport is inspiring.

Laura-a hit and a sundae! Liam got his high note, I am so glad for him. THe team may not have won their game but they sure di have one awesome season!

Becky- welcome home to John! Bet he is looking forward to some of your wonderful meals.

Aimee- continued prayers for you DH. I know he is going to get the job he is waiting for.

Kady's recital was so nice. We got the chance to see their competitive dance crews and they were incredible! Kady was not selected to participate with the mini dance company but after seeing those kids I am so impressed that she was even considered. They were amazing and then seeing the progression from the mini heroes to the Jr's and then Sr's WOW!

She had fun but she says she is done for now. Marisa will sign her up for next year but she continues to gravitate to the gymnastics and tumbling teams more than simply dancing.

We could not get our AC to start up yesterday and it got HOT! The technician came out and he got it going but we had to pay a significant after hours price. We also found more wrong with the installation, which has been an ongoing headache for us.

Everyone but me is in the field today. They headed out early to miss the worst of the heat. I have to take Kady to Sylvan so I am exempt today. Dinner will be something on the grill with salad and a veggie.

I hope everyone has a good day. I missed so much, I will catch up tomorrow.

Wendie, We understand why you aren't here. Enjoy your time with Dad.

Aimee, Congrats to DH!!! :firefight

Ann, Sorry your neice's team lost. They had a great season and your niece shined. :thumbsup2

As far as the Lo Mein, I really didn't use a recipe but it did come out very good. Here is what I did:

Vegetable Lo Mein

8 - 10 oz lo mein noodles, cooked according to package
hot pepper oil (5 tbs olive oil and 2 tsp crushed red pepper mixed and set aside for a couple hours to infuse, then strained)
4 or more cups cut up veggies (garlic, broccoli, red pepper, onion, carrots, baby corn)
3 heaping tbs hoisin sauce
4 tbs soy sauce
1/3 cup water
3 tbs hot pepper oil

Sauce:
Mix: hoisin, soy, water and 3 tbs hot pepper oil and set aside.

In a hot wok, add remaining hot pepper oil and saute vegetables until desired liking. I normally stir fry a few minutes then add about a 1/4 cup of water to steam veggies for a few minutes.

Add about 1/2 of sauce to vegetables and combine. Then add cooked noodles and remaining sauce and stir. If too dry add a bit more water and serve.

Laura, Sorry for Liam's loss too but glad he got his hit/sundae!

Lindsay, Happy birthday to your DH's Grandpa!!!

Today is the Little League picnic so we are going there for a while. Not sure how long since its going to be 95 degrees. Maybe I'll win the Mustang that I spent $$$ on this $50 raffle tickets!

Tom has been having a rough time this weekend with his arthritis in his ankle so he will stay home...

I think we will just eat out of the fridge later. I am sick of cooking and being a maid this weekend. I am sure you guys know how I feel.

Good thing, 2 weeks from right now, I will be 1/2 way to WDW!!! :cool1:

Good morning Everyone!

Wendie Funeraled out? I don't like going to one let alone the number you have. Hang in there. How's your dad feeling?

Nancy I glad to hear Kady had fun. Keep cool I hear the east coast is getting really hot. I don't know how we all survived with no air conditioning when I was little, though i remember a lot of time was spent in the basement cause it was cooler.

Ann Sorry your neice had a tough loss. She fought a great battle though :thumbsup2

Laura Glad Liam got a hit. In my book a hit is a hit no matter the outcome. Look at the professionals they get paid for strike outs and hitting slumps ::yes::

Lindsay Glad you were able to find a tray all made. The dump cake sounds good. I love dump cake.

I'm not sure what I making for dinner. I may make marinated wings since I can do that either outside or in. They are calling for more rain :faint:

Dinner was good last night but I did not take any pictures again! I will today. We are having grilled cornish hens with a nectaine salsa, a tomato-mozzarella-arugula salad...that's as faras I have gotten with the menu planning. I will make a couple of other veggies and some starch. It is SO hot and humid here today, yuck!!

What a day it was - Kyle pitched and got his first loss with the Knights.:(

Glad Liam got his hit!!!!!:thumbsup2
