As of October 1, the fee-based programs offered through Animal Kingdom Lodge's Camp Kidani, the resort's camp-style activities for children 6-12 years old, will be discontinued to make way for other new educational programming starting soon. In the meantime, some of these activities will be incorporated into other programming for guests of both Jambo House and Kidani Village, and there will still be opportunities to interact with the resort's Cultural Representatives.

OK, so I just called and I am booked for a Savanna view. Phew!:) The CM thought the information on the confirmation reservation emailed to me must have been a fluke. Thank you everyone for responding so quickly.

We have the Sunset/Wanyama Safari with dinner at Jiko scheduled for Dec. 17th. I'll include it in my trip report after we return. Due to Christmas I probably won't write that until early January. You can book it 180 days before the date of the Safari by calling the AKL Itinerary Planning Office at 407-938-4755. They answer from 9:00 am until I forget when in the pm. It requires a credit card hold but you can cancel without penalty with at least a 48 hour notice.

Does anyone know what the charge is for this sunset safari with jiko dinner?

OH NOOOOO! I had promised this to my 11 yr old son since his little brothers will be doing the Pirate's League as a treat. We have booked ADR's around this and everything! Is there any info or rumor about the "new educational programming"? I hope it is up and going by Thanksgiving week.

I am bummed by this, too. We are going 15-25th October, and I am guessing by the announcement that "new educational programming" will not be in place by then. We were going to go to dinner while DD did the program. I guess we'll just try out Simba's Clubhouse instead.

well this just bites! :sad1: We were all looking so forward to this! No wonder the schedule ends with September....No star tours, no akl activities. Anything else disney?

Yesterday when you posted your question about the information on your confirmation I took a better look at my Itinerary page from my TA. I had never noticed before that under Resort it stated Disney's Boardwalk Inn (where we stayed last December) but everything else was correct, including Room info: Savanna View - request "x" floor, "x" trail, "x"

I sent off a quick email to my TA and said I knew she had us booked in AKL (I never would have been able to book the Wanyama Safari if we weren't in AKL) but that the Resort name was wrong. She emailed me back "You didn't hear they've added a Savanna View to the Boardwalk Inn? I am just kidding!" She apologized and sent a corrected Itinerary page to me.

What's the best way to get from Jambo to the Kidani pool area? Do they have a shuttle? We also will have our car.

Recent visitors said that there is a shuttle between Jambo and Kidani.

In April we used the DTD bus from Jambo to Kidani. From Kidani to Jambo, we used any park bus.

I'm sorry, I know this has probably been discussed ad nauseum, but is it really that far of a walk from Kidani to Jambo? Say I'm staying in the furthest Kidani room possible, how long would that walk be?

I didn't find it long, but, I tend to say that about all of the resorts in comparison to the standard poster. I walk SO much further in the parks than in the resort. So, a 10 min stroll really isn't a big deal.

I suppose that 10 min to go stand in line at Mara, then, buy food, then walk 10 min back with the food while your family waits might seem long. But, at SSR I've walked from the Paddock to DTD to pick up food and that certainly took longer.

It is about a ten minute walk from Kidani to Jambo. The halls at Kidani are a lot longer than Jambo so that would add another few minutes.

I'm sure it has been discussed a thousand times already but I'm looking for help with the best requests to make for a studio at Kidani, savanna view.

Sunset Savanna?
Top floor?

Sunset Savanna?
Top floor?

2nd floor near the lobby sunset sav

This is what we requested this year and we could refill mugs in seconds and catch the bus with a very short walk, all without having to use an elevate, and the view was amazing

Hi there,
We are on our way to our first stay at kidani Village in two weeks. I am sending a box of a few supplies we need to the resort and I'm not sure if I send it directly to Kidani Village or if I send it to AKL? I have both addresses but I'm not sure which is the proper place to send it. Thanks :)

We are looking to stay in a 2 bedroom villa next summer. What is the difference between jambo and kidani? Are there pics somewhere of each? I saw the pics on the Disney site and they look super new and really nice. Are all rooms this updated? What would you prefer? Thanks for the advice!

We're doing a 3 night stay after our Dream cruise in May. However, due to budget issues, we are NOT going to any parks. (excuse me while I cry):sad2: We're trying to find other things to fill in the time between relaxing. Hopefully we can get the dining reservations we want. Anyhoo...are there many FREE activities in AKL. We've only ever stayed at POFQ and there wasn't much to DO there. (we still loved it for its own special flair however)
