:woohoo: we just added one more night to our AKL stay in Dec:woohoo: we plan on spending one day just hanging out at the lodge and exploring since we have never been there before

I just wanted to say hi. I have been reading the posts in here for about three months now and received so much helpful information about AKL. I am staying at AKL concierge July 28-Aug 3 with my husband, son and stepson and I can't wait to go.

Great info everyone. We may be staying here in September after our cruise. Trying to decide if we can swing it.

Hi I posted this question as a new thread but found this FAQ thread so thought I'd post it here too in case anyone knows the answers.

We currently have a reservation at POFQ but I fancy trying something new,so am thinking about switching to AKL.

I've been searching through threads trying to get a feel for the resort (we've visted for meals before but never really explored) and reviews appear to be good.

One thing I've seen a lot of people mention is the size, and it can be a long walk to the Mara and the buses. When I visited I thought it looked quite compact but that must not be the case. If we are in a room, furthest away from the lobby how long a walk are we talking about? We're two reasonably fit adults by the way who walk a lot in our daily lives.

On the subject of size, how many rooms does AKL have? Is it smaller or bigger than the Yacht club, another resort I'm considering?

One last question, whenever I've been for dinner at Boma the area around there has been crazy but there didn't seem to be too many people in the lounge (Victoria Falls??), is this usually the case or does the whole lobby get absolutely packed at night with people waiting for dinner reservations? I like to be able to have a quiet drink at night sometimes, and hoping that will be possible here.

Sorry for all the questions, I'm just trying to figure whether it's worth the cost to upgrade

sorry, no. It was the same one we had at the WL and the CR. It's a basic flat screen tv. I didn't feel it was anything great. They didn't have all the features available like they did at the WL. Plus at the WL there was a dvd player built into it.It was nicer than the regular small ones out there. I have a pic of the one at the WL if you want to email me off list I'll send it to you.

Oh wow, cool! THanks for responding, do you have any pics?

Hey everyone!

Im booked for a 2 bedroom suite club level for the 24th to the 27th. First disney christmas! Crazy it only took a few dozen trips to disney before we finally decided to go Disney this Christmas lol.

I cannot for the life of me find pictures of the 2 bedroom 2 and a half bath with parlor suite.

If anyone has pictures that would be awesome so we can all drool in anticipation!

If anyone knows where the 2 bedroom 2 and a half bath suites are now that would be great too. I found an old review from pre-DVC of it on zebra trail 5th floor.

During my trip in May, the area by Boma and Jiko seemed a little less crowded to me. I think that it was because they moved the check-in for Boma up to the lobby level during the evenings.

hi again all you AKL experts... I have another question for you...last year when we stayed at the Villas @ WL in Dec we decorated our room and windows for Christmas (static clings on the windows and Christmas lights on the balcony) Do they allow this at AKL? :confused3 thanks in advance

I would guess that they wouldn't like it. If your clings were on the inside of the window that would be fine. But do you think that they would be concerned about the christmas lights falling onto the savannah?

that's what I was thinking...that's why I am curious about it

What's the best section to request if I want a standard room close to the main pool? I've looked at the resort map but don't quite understand how it's sectioned- I'm used to CSR where there are only 3 main sections all spread apart. Thanks!:thumbsup2

Hi everyone! I scanned the activity sheet from the AKV/AKL stay 2 weeks ago and I wanted to post it in case anyone is interested.

Thanks so much for posting the activities list -- it's much longer that I had thought!!! We're really looking forward to spending some time at the hotel and checking some of these things out!:) Thanks again!

Thanks for posting the activities list. I can't wait for our first trip to AKL in less than 1 month! :cool1:

What is the culinary tour in Jiko??

It says on the activity sheet that Folktales are at 7:30pm. Does that time change or is it pretty consistent. I'd really like for my kids to be able to take part.

wow...that's great...thanks Donald is #1:thumbsup2

You're very welcome! :)

You're very welcome! I was surprised by the length of the list also. I did 3 of the activities but I am hoping to do more when I take my niece & nephew in Norvember.

You're very welcome! I don't really know much about the culinary tour in Jiko. Hopefully someone else can answer for you.

My guess is that it is fairly consistent. The list mentioned that it was as of mid-March and I received it in mid-May.

I'm a little worried about the bus service at AKL because it is so far out. But, I really hate the thought of driving there. I love the bus service because you don't have to think about it. The only time when I may consider driving is for a breakfast at the Polynesian which will be hard to get to on time on a bus , then monorail I think. I don;t want to have to leave at 7:00 for an 8:30 breakfast.

We loved AKL for many reasons, but one of the best was the bus service. Not sharing with other resorts was great, and people think it's so far away...the longest trip for us was maybe 14 minutes to magic Kingdom. The buses have clocks and my husband would time them....and laugh at how quick we reached where we were headed. We also never waited long for a bus to arrive. We love AKl and will stay there on our next Disney holiday! Enjoy!:goodvibes
