Couple of questions:

Is there free internet/wifi in the rooms for Club Level?

When staying Club Level should we pack/bring/ship snacks, cereal, granola bars for breakfast or will the lounge have that?

We are going July 8-13, 2008

As far as breakfast goes, the lounge offers fruit, bagels, yogurt, muffins, croissants, pastries, oatmeal, and cereals. I just booked CL and this is the info I was given.

We have used our points and have a 2 bdroom and 1 bedroom villa. ANy extra special room numbers for villas(DVC) that you can recommend?

The Cl breakfast offerings here are so much better than other CL offerings, The oatmeal is delicious and I don't eat it often. They also offer another hot African cereal that's pretty good. Their breakfast pastries are really tasty and not dry like other places, they come directly from Boma. They have an espresso machine that makes some pretty good coffee plus regular coffee and tea. They have 3 juices I think one being a mango combo in the morning then a really delicious one the rest of the day! Later on they have snacks which include dried banana chips, nut mixture, really good warm cookies and a few other things. Then come the next set of offerings which include scones and some fancy cookies. Later in the day they have 2 or 3 hot dishes with a veggie platter, olive platter, hummus, crackers wine and beer. Then if that wasn't enough, the nightly offerings of 2 or 3 deserts, smaller cookies, cordials. All day you can visit the lounge to get a drink of lemonade, the frunch juice, ice tea, soda, beer , chocolate milk, milk, wine and coffee. If you don't see it you just have to ask. The only thing they don't offer is bottles of water to take with you. None of the CL are offering those anymore. When I asked for a few for my room or one glass bottle like the other resorts did, I was told to go to the gift shop to buy it!:( I then explained it was for taking meds and the cm gave me 3 plastic bottles in a bag. Believe me there is plenty of food there. One word of advice though, if you're going to partake in the nightly hot food, get there exactly at 5 I think....or when it says it starts. There was a night we got there 20 minutes later and they were down to 1 offering and had NO more! Guess there were very hungry people there that night:goodvibes

Thanks For The Tips....I Have Booked WL CL For Xmas & I'm Just Wondering What CL Is Best?? My First Visit TO Property Will BE In Sept & I'm Staying CL AKL:) Anyone Here Able To Compare AKL CL & WL CL:confused3 :confused3
Thanks In Advance

Yep...just did both! AKL has WL topped!! At AKL you have an actual lounge that is opened all day. You can get drinks and coffee and fruit all day w/o really asking or feeling out of place. You can sit in the lounge all day if you want too. The food is fantastic and you can really make meals out of them. The kids of food offered are way better, imo than what is offered at WL.You have 2 hot cereals offered for breakfast while only cold at WL.You have a dessert offering mid afternoon that WL doesn't. The snacks offered are better. At WL you get fishes, and gummies and cookies and a plain nut. The staff is ultra friendly and you feel very comfortable with them.

Now WL has a room where the food is located. This room gets locked between courses. They do leave a coffee pot and a hot water pot out for coffee and tea, but you have to ask for anything else you may want. You have to go and stand in line by the podiums near the elevators to do so. I always felt I was being a bother and some times the wait would be long enough for me to skip it. The seating surrounds the lobby. There are plenty of tables and chairs and couches but some can be a walk if you're not there soon enough. Don't get me wrong, the CL was nice at WL but not near as nice as AKL.

I never felt out of place AKL or like a bother being there for all their offerings. At WL I always felt like I was waiting to pounce on them once they opened the doors and felt like I had to rush before they closed them again.

So is it really only pastries, oatmeal, and cold cereals offered for breakfast in the morning in the lounge?

No, it's also , a hot african cereal, fruit, bagels, croissants, yogurt, a different kind of breakfast pastry not what everyone else has and really really good, berries both strawberry and blueberries. Really there is enough to fill you up. Remember it's supposed to be a continental breakfast not a full breakfast~The AKL CL had more than the CR and WL did!

Thanks for the extra info. I can't wait until we go. I just booked 8 nights CL for June 09. We have stayed at AKL SV twice (paid once for view, got free upgrade the 2nd time) but we have never stayed CL anywhere. I am so in love with AKL! DH and I both turn 40 right before the trip, so this is our late BD present/celebration for each other. Of course we have to bring the DS along too or he would never forgive us:rotfl2:

Sounds good! I only made 1 ADR for breakfast and that is on our last day at Boma.

ang38 my husband wants to know if they have draft or bottled beer and if its domestic or African? :rolleyes1

eeyoresnr --- great question! My husband would like to know about the beer offerings as well. Also, when is the beer available?(He'd probably like it 24/7 :rotfl: )

My DH turns 40 on 15th June and we are just waiting on the 11 month window to (hopefully) book a concierge room at AKV. I think staying concierge sounds like a wonderful way to celebrate a special birthday. Maybe we'll see you there.:) My DH will be the one looking embarrassed about wearing a birthday badge:blush: :rotfl:

Subscribing...........

Just booked AP rate @ AKL for our Anniversary in September. DH really wanted to stay there & he's finally getting his wish just before our AP's run out. Can't wait!!:lovestruc

Bottled and both. My husband tried the African beer and said it was really good~Men~

Not exactly 24/7 but whenever the lounge is open: 6:30am till 10pm. If it's not in the refrigerator case, you just ask one of the cm's walking around. They will gladly bring you what kind and how many!

We just left AKV concierge today (sadly) and absolutely loved it. The African beer was so good! Beer, wine and appetizer type foods are avaliable from 5-7pm. If you want alcohol any other time, just ask and they are happy to get it for you. We also took a few bottles of beer back to the fridge in our room and it was great to have a cold one waiting for us when we got back from a hot day in the parks.

Reading this thread is getting me all excited about our November trip. :hyper: It'll be our first time staying on site, and our third time at WDW.

I do have a few questions, though. Some of them may have been answered already, but I'm not about to go through 51 pages of responses. :confused3

First off - We're renting DVC points to stay in a villa, and there will be three people in the room, including me. We're getting a studio value. Have I heard correctly that there's a queen bed and a pull-out couch per room? If so, could someone provide a picture of the couch all pulled out? And, out of curiosity, we have a blow-up air matress about the size of a normal twin bed. Would that fit in the room?

Secondly, will any of the animals be on the savannah, or are they going to be elsewhere due to the construction? There isn't going to be a whole lot of noise, right? :confused3

I feel strange asking these - I'm usually the one answering other people's questions about WDW. :rotfl: But as I said, it's the first time we've actually been able to stay on site (and no one else in my family seems to get how EXCITING this is!!), so I'm pretty confused about the whole thing.

We had a Construction Savannah View ( ;) ) June 10-20th and we were surprised to find animals on the Savannah! They really didn't seem bothered by the construction at all. In fact, the CM's who work with the animals, told us that the ostriches really love the construction and flirt with the workers. We saw one ostrich who watched the cranes working on the main lodge for hours.

Construction on the new DVC resort started at 8am and lasted until 4:00/4:30pm. We got a flyer in the room that stated the construction would be from 9am - 4pm M-F, however, it certainly started earlier and they also worked on the weekends. The noise from the DVC construction was minimal.

There was also renovation happening on the main lodge. This work was much more disruptive to us as there were cranes and loud trucks directly below our balcony. They were painting the top decorative panel of the roof line, so the crane was directly in front of our balcony during work ours and several times we had workmen standing on our balcony. When we were home, we kept our drapes closed during the day. Hopefully this work will be completed soon!

Have a great trip!
