~*~The After-Twilight Bookclub!!!~*~

i just finished reading the third book of Larissa Ione's Demonica series. This is Wraith's book and although i liked it, i expected so much more angst and violence from him. he was too nicey nice for me. Although I do like the series and am planning on starting Lore's book soon.

But first my daughters friend asked me to read Nicholas Sparks "last song" so we can see the movie when it comes out. As usual I feel like I'm reading seriously lame fanfic. or something a junior high schooler wrote when i read his stuff. i don't know why i bother.

I didn't get out to buy New Moon yet today. woke up with a killer migraine and now i'm just drained.. I'm sure Target will have some left when i get there later.

Yeah, I gave up on Nicholas Sparks awhile ago. People will rave about his books and I'll try again and then....nope, nothing.:confused3

There is alot of fanfiction that I like better than his books. :lovestruc They are so formulaic and all seem to be about the same thing-better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.....

I am starting a new book today. It is called, The Dead Tossed Waves. It is the companion book to The Forest of Hands and Teeth.

There's a companion book? What is it about?

Forest of Hands and Teeth was an amazing book, but it was depressing!

I finally got a hold of a copy of Hourglass, so I'm reading that now, it's very good and I'm almost done with it. I also bought Dead Tossed Waves and I'm reading that next.

Hi everybody! I'm new to the book club and can't wait to read the suggestions here!! I absolutely LOVE the Twilight series, getting ready to read them again to prepare for Eclipse to come to the big screen. I'm gonna go back and read the whole thread and post more later!

I finished Hourglass and it was great, but I went through it so fast thinking it was the last book and turns out it isn't!

Hi there!! And welcome to the party from the only one who hasn't read Twilight.

Hey ladies, I haven't been around here in ages!

I finished The Hunger Games & Catching Fire a few weeks ago. I loved both of those books. I'm currently reading The Time Traveler's Wife. It's wonderful so far. I have The Lovely Bones & Lucky waiting for me when I'm done, as well as The Repossession Mambo (the book the movie Repo Men is based off of.) My boyfriend just read TRM & loved it. I actually got him to read the Sookie Stackhouse novels. He's on book 2 right now. :thumbsup2

The queen was amazing but the rest of the characters were forgettable. I wish there would have been some interest in the voices of the rabbit and cat... lots of characters sounded the same. The catepillar sounded slightly unique but, of course, just like Snape from Harry Potter. I wanted more amusement in the dialogue, too. The screen play was lack-luster.

I know this post is a few days old & I'm late to the party, but I agree. I love Alan Rickman, but his voice always sounds the exact same. I don't mind, but I now always think of Snape talking. I did enjoy Alice, it was lovely to look at, but the plot was just ok. I still prefer the animated Disney version. It would have been hard to top that movie for me though, it's one of my favorites.

Oh, & to get back on the book topic, I picked up a gorgeous leather-bound copy of all the Alice stories at Barnes & Noble a few weeks back. It's beautiful & was only $20.

I thought Catching Fire was just ok.. sort of a retelling of the first book. I'm waiting for the revolution.

I'm always happy to see comments, no worries about late to the party for me. The animated Alice was hard to live up to... the ride at DL is one of my favorites. I just love going outside over those big ole leaves. :goodvibes

Those books are lovely. I know you said Barnes and Noble but.....did you know if you sign up for Borders online that you get really good coupons? I just found out recently and I didn't use my coupon for 40% off to by NM as I should have. I paid full price like a dummy.:sad2:

That's a fantastic deal. I wish that had been going on when I got mine. I really wanted both of those & the Jane Austen & Charles Dickens ones. The book really classes up my bookcase

TMR = The Repossession Mambo. I'm very, very excited for Mockingjay in August. That's supposed to be the last book, right?

I agree, the animated version is hard to live up to. I haven't been on the one in DL, but the one in WDW is one of my favorites. The Wonderland themed labyrinth in DLRP looks amazing.

I didn't know that! Thanks for the heads up, I'll check out it. Both my boyfriend & I have been buying a lot of books lately, so that's helpful to know.

I'm wondering if anyone else has read the two Tiger's Quest books by Colleen Houck. I really liked them, they reminded me a lot of the Twilight books. Same kind of dynamic between the two main characters. No vampires, but the Indian culture in the books was very interesting and different. The third book is due out soon, and there will be a fourth in the future.

Hey everyone, Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr is free right now on Amazon for Kindle. You don't need a kindle though to read it. You can read from your computer, blackberry or ipod touch/phone.

It's smart to check amazon every few days amazon>kindle store> kindle best sellers. i find TONS of great free reading there.

I'm almost done with Dead-Tossed Waves and I have no idea what I'm reading next, help?

BTW, when does the next VA book come out? I know it's May, but when exactly?
