My sister is going up to Niagara for THanksgiving. Is that near Placid? Sounds like a really nice drive and time away from all the stress!

I'm assuming you mean Niagara Falls? (Hello Rosie!) That is 5 hours west of Albany. Lake Placid is 3 hours north of me. It was a nice day. I went with Spencer's dad and he has a convertible - it was a fun ride.

After the "tasty" bun with melted cheese, the pastries must have looked like a slice of heaven!! :cloud9:

Oh no - I hope you aren't all going to fall ill one by one!!!

Oh Oh! another adventure? I hope the day didn't go as bad as it looks right now. I can't believe you left us hanging about the pastry! How will I get to sleep tonight?

Oh, and I'm excited that the planning of the West Coast meet is almost ready to commence!!!

Hey All,

It's been a hiney-whipping day with all kinds of busy-ness and a side of drama thrown in. Probably a lot like most of your days. I really hope I can be "here" a bit more tomorrow, but no promises.

YES, the West Coast Meet is looking more promising (part of that aforementioned drama), and I hope to get back to you all very soon about that. Meanwhile, I'm going to go screw up my neck a bit more tonight on a crappy mattress (well, not literally, that'd be REALLY, REALLY gross!).

See you sometime tomorrow with replies and hellos!

And I'll try to be here to read about west coast meet drama....but no promises :rotfl:

Not enough hours in the day sometimes. Pillow...you need a new pillow....and a mattress!

Aloha, ladies! I lost internet access for five days when our router decided not to work anymore, so I'll be lurking until I catch up! Just wanted to say I am still here. :lmao:

TK! Glad your back, how's the little peanut? Hope the computer stuff is fixed for good now.

That's right! He even saved (or just photographed) the stamps.

It's been a really great couple of years getting to know each of you, and sharing in your lives. It IS very cool!

I remember! :goodvibes I remember him skewing the country name for you.
I knew it must have just been me! I knew I was late to the game (your thread and Jordy's) I didn't really know how long everyone else had been around, I'm just glad I found my new Dis friends. :grouphug:

Hi Liesa! I know what's coming, so :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

It!s funny that they have descriptions in English at Frankfurt airport bakerys, I never noticed that, and no Butterkuchen?

Hi Liesa! What a strange combination of really bad fast food and caviar at the Kazakhstan airport - but I noticed that nearly every European airport has a "Caviar Hopuse" shop. :confused3 I think it must be one of those things that rich business men bring back from their travels to their wifes.

You two have a Thanksgiving coming up on the 11th!
Is your Thanksgiving anything like an American Thanksgiving (a dumb question I'm sure)? What do y'all do for Thanksgiving and will Katharina come visit for the holiday? Katharina, how did the move go...or are you finished yet?

Liessa I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the next installment !!!!!! I am now wondering about my Bloodshot eye and getting on the plane to MCO:eek:Thank goodness I have a doctors note !!!!:worship:

 What happened Rosie? Everything okay?

I stand corrected!

drooling-homer.gif

You just won major points in my world! :rotfl: That photo is hilarious! Good one! :thumbsup2

I think Liesa and I go back even farther than 1 year.... :scratchin

I thought there would be a few for sure.

There are a ton of great people on this thread. I wish I had the time to follow everybody's PTRs & TRs but I've been having a hard time following my subbed threads already. :goodvibes Not to mention, following this thread is like a full time job! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

See, I knew this and didn't put up a report just because I knew how stressed out I'd make you and Liesa. Aren't you glad I'm looking out for y'all! :rotfl:

Oh no...I don't want a meet to be a source of contention for you in your home! :scared:
I'll be waiting on pins to find out if there is peace.

Hello Millie!
Thanksgiving in Germany is nothing like in America, here it is a very low key affair. There is a special service at church on sunday, but that's it. People, who don't attend a church, are not even aware of the event, I guess.
So I'll stay in Berlin and work on organizing the move, it is now scheduled for the 23rd!

Your poor family. Once the stomach bug starts there's no stopping it. People drop like flies.

On a better note, I'll take one of each of the pastries. They look soooo gooood.

Good Morning Liesa! I hope today will be less stressful and less dramatic for you! :flower3:

Hi Camille, that's very sweet of you to think of us! :goodvibes But our Thanksgiving is always the first Sunday in October, so it was last Sunday. It is much less of a family holiday than the American Thanksgiving. It is only celebrated in church as a way to say thanks for the plentiful harvest and besides a special service in church and an altar decorated with fruit and vegetables, there isn't much happening.

ETA: It took me four hours to send off this post because I had to rush off to a meeting - now Katharina was faster than me witht he explanation!

In England we cal it Harvest Thanksgiving and it too is a Church holiday not a Big Holiday as here in the US!! I remember as a child taking a HUGE box of homegrown veggies to Church or school for the poor !!I was always soooo proud cuz my Dad had a huge Vegetable garden and my box was always the biggest!!!

Yes, that's what we call it as well: Erntedank which means harvest thanks. I loved the decorated church as a kid as well! For some time our family went on a church retreat every year for thanksgiving and I have very fond memories of that! :goodvibes

Look on the bright side. With all the kids you've had, at least it isn't a hiney-wiping day anymore! (well, except for the occasional personal one that is....) :lmao:

Maroo, I can't remember if I commented on your costume, but I LOVE IT!!!!

And Liesa, I am dying to know which pastry. As nowadays, I am lucky to scarf down a bowl of cereal, never mind something so decadent as pastry. :lmao:
