:rotfl2: You're so wicked- I love it!

Thank you. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Thankfully, I've never had to use a barf bag on a plane (I just hate flying and squeeze poor Grumpy to death. Caviar at an airport? Yeah, like I'd be trusting that. Those pastries sure look yummy though.

The magazine in that picture says "Jambo"!

Oh no! More virus bugs making the rounds, and those dreaded words are uttered -- "No, Mom I need a barf bag!"

It!s funny that they have descriptions in English at Frankfurt airport bakerys, I never noticed that, and no Butterkuchen?

I didn't even notice that...I was too busy trying to translate; thinking to myself, "Okay, theres 'apfel plunder' which means something with apple that I'd like to plunder. And 'schoko' is obviously 'chocolate'....hmm mm."

:scared1: What an AWFUL place to realize the reality of the sickness.....ugh. And I know it only gets worse....:sad2:

All those pastries look delish...I think I'll take the chocolate croissant!! Were there pastries like that in Kazakhstan? Or was this a sight for sore-eyes? It's beautiful sight regardless, but just curious. :goodvibes

Liessa I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the next installment !!!!!! I am now wondering about my Bloodshot eye and getting on the plane to MCO:eek:Thank goodness I have a doctors note !!!!:worship:

We breezed through customs and passport control, thanks to Mr. Immigration Stampy-Pants, and settled our sleepy selves next to those already waiting to be called to such exotic destination as Prague, Moscow, and Novosibersk.

Is that an official term? :lmao:

--a $4 hamburger bun with a piece of melted processed “cheese” on top. I’m pretty sure she managed to choke down about ½ until she gave up- having just barely cheated death by starvation.

Hmmm...this or caviar? So far, the newspaper looks like the most edible option we've seen.

I stand corrected!

OK.. Responses first.. then back to read. GEEZ, I feel like this is my TR! :rotfl2:

Yes, THAT picture here... again. :lmao::lmao:
It hasn't been deleted... YET!
Tim is usually willing to oblige. Yes, Tim??
Of course I am! :cool2:
I mean, why would you choose the FRONT porch to stage this idiocy.
Cuz that's how I get down! ::yes::

I donno:confused3 That is where I opened it and I felt the need to try it out! :rolleyes1
See, now you COULD play "dead goat polo" with it, if the fancy strikes you.
All I need is a horse and a dead goat!

You wouldn't!!

Would you?
She most definitely would... come to think of it, she probably already has! :lmao::lmao:

I'll never tell. ;)
You don't have to! :rotfl2:

That's right! He even saved (or just photographed) the stamps.

It's been a really great couple of years getting to each of you, and sharing in your lives. It IS very cool!
I couldn't save the stamps- they were falling apart. I did take pics of them though.

I agree. You are the only person I know that has lived in Blankistan. :lmao:

:confused3 I'm not seeing the problem here.

No! I'm kiddiiiiing! I like it because it reminds me when Liesa sent it to you from Crapastan and how happy you were to get it! Silly.
Can you believe it's been almost a year since we all started hanging out here on Liesa's and Jordy's thread? (or was that just me ) I do know it was around Thanksgiving time last year we all started coming together as the big Dis family we've become. Pretty cool, huh? I love how the family just keeps getting bigger. :yay:
I think Liesa and I go back even farther than 1 year.... :scratchin

There are a ton of great people on this thread. I wish I had the time to follow everybody's PTRs & TRs but I've been having a hard time following my subbed threads already. :goodvibes Not to mention, following this thread is like a full time job! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Now why would you think that????

Tim, you have a hard time following your OWN thread. :lmao::lmao:

Glad the stamp worked... would of been something if they gave you some grief about that.

That doesn't look at all comfortable. :sad2:

No sooner had we plopped down, Anara declared that she was “starving” It’s a good thing, because no one else but a starving person would eat this:

DSCN8262.jpg

--a $4 hamburger bun with a piece of melted processed “cheese” on top. I’m pretty sure she managed to choke down about ½ until she gave up- having just barely cheated death by starvation.

She was hungry at 1am? I think I'd rather starve than eat that! :rotfl:

Her alternative was something from here:

DSCN8260.jpg
I've never tried caviar, so I have no idea what it tastes like. :confused3

I'm not sure that I want to either.

At least they are all in jars and not just piles of it all over. :scared1:

This was certainly re-assuring. Great for business, I should say!

DSCN8272.jpg

Just what you want to be reading about on a plane... new terror threats. :sad2:

After a while the armrests and other seatbelts dig themselves in far enough that you really don’t feel them gutting you anymore. I suppose the glass of Chardonay probably didn’t hurt either.
:lmao::lmao:

“No, Mom I need a barf bag!” Givitng myself permission to now panic, the full revelation of a ruined vacation came hurtling down the “This-can’t-be-happening” Express. Of all times for a virus to make its rounds, why now?!! It wasn’t the meatloaf after all!! Thinking back I realized that Anara had been sick about a week before we left, and was thankful it wasn’t during our trip; we assumed Mikes’ Night of Hell was due to little lambs who ate too much ivy. All doubt was gone. This was a NASTY bunch of beasties whose sole purpose was to wreck whatever we had planned for the next 2 days.
Oh my... not a good sign. (too bad I know what happens next)

And most importantly, which pastry did we choose????

DSCN8273.jpg
Those look absolutely YUMMMMMYYYYYYYY!!!!!! popcorn::

Ending with a picture of those wonderful pastries is just cruel!!
I was already hungry and now I'm planning an attack on the nearest bakery.

Hi Liesa! I know what's coming, so :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

It!s funny that they have descriptions in English at Frankfurt airport bakerys, I never noticed that, and no Butterkuchen?

This was only the tragic beginning...

Yes, they were all very conveniently labeled for the English speakers. But to be honest, the beautiousness of them spoke for themselves. They were my lovelies. More on the butterkuchen later.

I've never had to use a barf bag on a plane. :scared1: I'd probably panic though and not be able to find it!

The pastry looks so yummy. I can't imagine though ordering caviar at an airport. :upsidedow

WE've had to use them twice before this. Once was while circling over Bangkok, over, and over, and over, and over..... but we ran out of bags, so I had one kid on the left using one disposable diaper and one on the right using another. A guy about 2 rows back saluted me as "Mother of the Year" as we were getting off the plane.

I think the caviar, as Magdalene suggested, was to take home. Can you imagine sitting next to someone who had actually EATEN it at the airport??!! :scared1:

Caviar at an airport?! Who knew! Too bad the choices were slim. That bun doesn't look all the appetizing but I guess you'll eat anything when you're STARVING.

Heard about the cavity results on FB. That's great news! As long as the cavities aren't big, I'm impressed after three years of not seeing a dentist. In my case, three years not seeing a dentist would probably equal a root canal.

Yes. Starving children get what's put in front of them. Nothing more, nothing less. :lmao:

Yes!! And we were only dinged about $300 for a cleaning, check up and a Rubiks Cube.

Hi Liesa! What a strange combination of really bad fast food and caviar at the Kazakhstan airport - but I noticed that nearly every European airport has a "Caviar Hopuse" shop. :confused3 I think it must be one of those things that rich business men bring back from their travels to their wifes. I always think it is a bit sad... ;)

I am cringing at the thought of how this will continue. Just as Katharina, I know the facts, but I wonder what it will sound like told by you on the TR!!! :scared1::scared1::scared1:

I think the Johannisbeer Streusel looks best to me! :thumbsup2

It was odd. I'd never seen a Caviar House before- and thought they were unique to Kazakhstan since the Caspian is so close. Those ugly sturgeons LOVE the Caspian, you know. ;)

I know, with all that perfume and purses, it's strange they'd choose fish eggs. :confused3

I hope there will still be at least a little bit of surprise element for you in the next installment!

You're close. But actually, that wasn't fair, we got several. :yay:

How do they list something like this on a menu board? Was it a "cheese muffin" or something exotic sounding - or just cheese on a bun?

Thank you. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Thankfully, I've never had to use a barf bag on a plane (I just hate flying and squeeze poor Grumpy to death. Caviar at an airport? Yeah, like I'd be trusting that. Those pastries sure look yummy though.

Poor Grumpy! But I think I'd take bruises over protein spills. I wouldn't trust caviar from anywhere. One time, at a holiday meal, my in-laws had set out a dish of black caviar, and my then, 10 year old DH thought it was blackberry jam. He scooped out a gigantic spoonful onto a cracker and plopped it into his unsuspecting mouth. In his family you NEVER would spit it back out- being all proper and all. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

The magazine in that picture says "Jambo"!

Hey! YOu're right! I didn't even notice that! Cool!

Yep, more ugly beasties saying, "Hi, we're here to ruin your vacation. How do you do?"

I have a few more "funny" German signs coming up. At least they're funny to English speakers.

:goodvibes

OH, Heavens NO! They made very beautiful pieces of cardboard, though. In Kaz, everything was dried out and completely flavorless, with sugary lard in pretty shapes on top. BLECH!!

Liessa I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the next installment !!!!!! I am now wondering about my Bloodshot eye and getting on the plane to MCO:eek:Thank goodness I have a doctors note !!!!:worship:

I heard you had a nasty case of pink eye!! GOSH, I hope that gets all cleared up before you fly!!

Is that an official term? :lmao:

Close enough. I could come up with a few more, but, well, this is a family friendly website. ;)

Hmmm...this or caviar? So far, the newspaper looks like the most edible option we've seen.

Aw, come on... no rubbery cheese toast at 1:00 AM?? Maybe we were supposed to purchase them together for a sandwich sort of deal??

I stand corrected!

drooling-homer.gif

:lmao: Was this when Homer was about to reach for a donut? His slathering cracks me up!

Reminds me of the days when I was young (yes Kathy and Rosie, many, many years ago!). My mom would fix hotdogs, and I didn't really like them (maybe I thought they were horse wieners). Anyway, I would take the hotdog bun, fill it with ketchup, and eat that instead. My way of rebelling that she didn't fix hamburgers instead I guess..... :confused3
Liessa I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the next installment !!!!!! I am now wondering about my Bloodshot eye and getting on the plane to MCO:eek:Thank goodness I have a doctors note !!!!:worship:
At least you can't make anyone sick on the plane, Rosie! (something about pole dancing and barf bags comes to mind, but I think I'll leave that comment alone) :scared1:
I think Liesa and I go back even farther than 1 year.... :scratchin
I haven't been hanging around Liesa's threads nearly as long as some people have, it just feels like it! :rolleyes1

Truer words!!! :thumbsup2 I'm so busy trying to prop up everyone else's threads I don't have any time for my own!
Tim, you have a hard time following your OWN thread. :lmao::lmao:
Hey, you copying me??? :rotfl2:

OK.. Responses first.. then back to read. GEEZ, I feel like this is my TR! :rotfl2:

I"m having serious issues these days keeping up with the TRs and PTRs I want to. I could have a nervous breakdown any time over it.

Cuz that's how I get down! ::yes::

Why did I suddenly just break into a Michael J song- ".... and we can ride the boogie..." ??

I donno:confused3 That is where I opened it and I felt the need to try it out! :rolleyes1

So, you've had practice with others?? Was it kinda like giving a new car a test drive around the lot?

All I need is a horse and a dead goat!

I could probably get you some of those. We're going to get a goat in a couple of months maybe- probably won't take long for it to die, since we have not the first foggiest clue of what to do for it.

I couldn't save the stamps- they were falling apart. I did take pics of them though.

bummer! I"m sure they were worth at least their face value.

I agree. You are the only person I know that has lived in Blankistan. :lmao:

I think you were one of the originals- like 18-20 months ago. :confused3 You've stuck around- soundly certifying yourself as one of the more insane.

SAme here.

Glad the stamp worked... would of been something if they gave you some grief about that.

Actually, we saw another unfortunate incident while going through passport. A couple of tourists who had been on their way to Cairo were dumped off in Almaty due to mechanical problems were dumb enough to have went to the airport hotel for a few hours of sleep. When the airline company told them everything was a go, they came back to the airport only to be told they "went into the country without a visa". It took them up to the VERY last minute to get through (with much grief!) and onto our plane back to Germany where they had started. Our vacation was a dream job compared to those poor folks!!!!!!!!

She was hungry at 1am? I think I'd rather starve than eat that! :rotfl:

I suggested that!

I've never tried caviar, so I have no idea what it tastes like. :confused3

Think salty- very salty. And mushy.

At least they are all in jars and not just piles of it all over. :scared1:

That would be simply gagamatic.

Just what you want to be reading about on a plane... new terror threats. :sad2:

Exactly what I was thinking.

Those look absolutely YUMMMMMYYYYYYYY!!!!!! popcorn::

Some of them were!!

Ending with a picture of those wonderful pastries is just cruel!!
I was already hungry and now I'm planning an attack on the nearest bakery.

I have a mean streak in me, don't I?

How do they list something like this on a menu board? Was it a "cheese muffin" or something exotic sounding - or just cheese on a bun?

It wasn't on the menu. There were just a tray of them sitting on the counter. Some even had bologna on them.

I didn't even notice that...I was too busy trying to translate; thinking to myself, "Okay, theres 'apfel plunder' which means something with apple that I'd like to plunder. And 'schoko' is obviously 'chocolate'....hmm mm."

Hadn't realized that.... :rotfl:

Actually "to plunder" is "plündern" in German, while the German "Plunder" means "danish" (as in baked goods, not the language obviously). You see those little dots on the u make all the difference!! ;)

I wonder what other funny signs Liesa found!!

You're lucky I go back and check the last page after replying, Mister NinjaMan.

I'd have made you eat the hot dog, you rebel. I make mine eat their sheep cheek too. Go ahead, call the CPS if you want.

I haven't been hanging around Liesa's threads nearly as long as some people have, it just feels like it! :rolleyes1

Having that much fun, Marv? :lmao:

Truer words!!! :thumbsup2 I'm so busy trying to prop up everyone else's threads I don't have any time for my own!
Hey, you copying me??? :rotfl2:

I can't even get ON anyone else's half the time. So little time, so many threads.

In all your spare time you should come back over and prop up my report for awhile. ;)

:lmao: good one, Tanya.

My goodness- only 2 eensy, weensy dots- and the whole meaning changes!! Kinda like the time in Kaz where one vowel made the difference between "planting" radishes and "pooping" them. :lmao::lmao::lmao:
