A December Trip, MVMCP, Candlelight Processional, plus I FINALLY saw the Lion!

Hello, everyone! Welcome to my latest Trip Report! It's been a while since I was last in the World (2014) and that's too long! I did get some of a Disney Fix over those years, I was in Disneyland Paris in 2019 and Disneyland in 2022. There are TR's for those trips in my sig below. (The DL one is not finished but it's been so long I think a lot is changed).

If you don't know us, I will make introductions. I am Danielle, I am 52 years old and I am the big Disney fan of the family, I have been to Disney World a bunch of times since I was about 12. I am a nurse, I work as Nursing Supervisor in a Nursing Home/Rehab here in Western NY. We actually just moved to a different town in the same area a few months ago. We have been moving in bits and pieces and we actually had movers bring the last of our main furniture today! We are excited to have actual furniture in the living room. We have been living with Camp Chairs and tray tables for the most part since May.

My Husband is Tim. He is 49 years old (He'll be 50 this coming May) and he has been a few times since he met me. He works as a Cleaner/Janitor at the local Elementary School. Since we moved, he is now in Walking distance from the School, which is really convenient since he doesn't drive (Seizures). It's been great for him not having to worry about rides, etc.

This trip came about when we started talking about vacations and I really wanted to go back to Disney. I had been thinking about going in the Fall, I love the Fall decorations, the Mickey pumpkins everywhere, etc. But my hubby said he wanted to see it with Christmas decorations so I went about booking a December trip. We went December 10th to 17th and stayed at All Star Movies. We got tickets for the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and then when they went on sale I got the Candlelight Processional Dining Package (at the Garden Grill) on one of the Nights that Henry Winkler was narrating. (Spoiler, he did a beautiful Job).

We had a really fun trip, the weather was great for the most part although it cot cool at night (Downright cold at least one night). So sit back and I hope to make the report an interesting read. Here is a quick pic of us to start. (Hope this works)

Day 0
Tuesday Dec 9th

I had to work the weekend of the 6th, 7th and Monday the 8th. I work every other weekend and I work all the Mondays so when it's my weekend I do 3 in a row. The issue with 3 in a row is they are 16 hour shifts. I work 3pm till 7:30am and Since I almost never get out on time I don't get a heck of a lot of sleep between them (4-5 hours). So I basically am unable to do anything all weekend because I have to maximize what little sleep I get. So I came out of work on Tuesday morning at about 8am and went home and crashed for a few hours. The other thing with this schedule is that at that point I hadn't PACKED anything! I had done all the laundry and had it all together but nothing was in the suitcase. Luckily my husband had packed his things so I just had to do mine which I did after I had slept a few hours.

We were leaving on Wednesday but our flight was at 6am so I booked a room at the hotel that is right by the airport, the Fairfield Inn. We left the house at about 6, stopped at the drive through to get a quick dinner to eat in the room. Checked in, parked the car in the parking lot and took the shuttle back to the hotel. We watched a little TV and went to sleep pretty early because we had to get up at 3:45.

Day 1
Wed Dec 10th

That alarm came too fast. We woke up and got ready and went to breakfast. The full hot breakfast with eggs and all that started at 6 but they had a cold breakfast that started at 4. I had cereal, chocolate milk, and a danish. I also had a yogurt but I took that with me and ate it at the gate. Tim had bagels and cream cheese and OJ. We walked to the airport (it is right across the street) and it was lightly snowing. Took about 20-30 minutes to get through security. It was pretty busy for a small airport. We got to our gate and everything was fine at first, boarded on time and pulled back from the gate but then they said we had to get de-iced but there was a line of planes waiting to get on the "De-icing pad" Apparently Rochester airport only has one of these "Pads". I don't know Rochester is a small airport and all but it is also in the middle of snow country, you would think they would have more than one. By the time we finally took off it was after the time we were supposed to have landed in DC. Luckily we didn't miss our connection. Here is a pic of the "De- icing truck"

Our connection was in DC (Dulles) and we took off on time and even landed a few minutes early. We got an Uber to get to ASMo and it came pretty quick. We got there about 2:15. The lady from Bell services came and took our bags to hold them until our room was ready. We went to get a quick bite to eat at the food court. We got a message that our room was ready while we were eating and went to tell Bell services our room # and they said they would take them to the room.

I did a mobile order for our food. I went to buy the refillable mugs while we waited for the food to be ready. I feel we got our money's worth from them. We debated on whether to get a dining plan, I initially thought it would be too expensive and that we would never eat that much, that we could share things, etc. Well, we didn't end up sharing things most of the time because we usually wanted different things. I haven't done the full calculation yet but I think we might have been better off getting at least the quick serve plan.

I had Sesame chicken and Tim had an Italian sandwich. I ordered the special Holiday dessert, the Gingerbread cake for us to share.

We took a nap in the room for a couple hours then I put in an Instacart order for a few snacks and drink packets for the room. We went to bell services to double check that they would keep it until we were ready. We went to the food court again and refilled our mugs. I went in the store for a bit, I bought a pair of Christmassy ears. (I had one pair that I got in California and brought those , with me in this trip but they were just purple sparkly ones). These looked like red and white striped candies. While we were at the table, I went into the "Chat" section of the App and asked about that outlet that wasn't working. That worked out really well, they came and fixed it while we were at the food court. After that we got our stuff from Bell Services and went back to the room. We were going to Epcot the next day.

Day 2
Thursday December 11th

This morning we were going to Epcot. We woke up and got ready, I did a mobile order for breakfast (I love the mobile order by the way, it worked out really well for us). We had a backpack for going to the parks so we could carry jackets because we knew it would get chilly at night. I think there were 2 nights we didn't take/need them. We also took our Mugs with us to use in the morning and then again when we got back to the resort at night. I had gotten a container of French Vanilla coffee creamer from the instacart order and poured some into my mug to have coffee at breakfast.

I will say, we went to the food court a lot this trip, there were times that it was pretty busy but we never had a hard time finding a table.

For breakfast I had the Ham and cheese omelette with Potato Barrels (Tator Tots) and hubby had a bacon egg and cheese bagel and then a plan bagel with cream cheese. His sandwich came with tator tots too. Everything was good.

For the week I had purchased the Lightening Lane Multi pass for all the park days except the day of the MVMCP because we didn't have a regular ticket for that day. Today I had chosen Living with the Land, Soarin' and Test Track. I forget what the exact times were but the Land was the first and it was for about 10:30 to 11:30. I did take a few notes in the notepad in my phone so I do have some times.

We headed out to the bus. We got on the bus at 9:50 and I took this pic at 10:07.

We had some time to kill before the LL so we went through the Moana walkthrough, that was pretty neat.

Then we went to the Living Seas. The wait said 25 minutes, I haven't seen a wait that long in many moons. I even asked the lady at the front if it was right, LOL. We went ahead and went in anyway. It took closer to 15-20. It's cute in there although part of me misses Seabase Alpha and the "It rained and rained and rained" movie about the forming of the sea. Does anyone remember that one from back in the day?

After the Seas, we went to Imagination which was about a 5 minute wait, I miss the OG version of this but I am glad that this version at least has Figment.

We went over to the Land to ride Living with the Land: Glimmering Greenhouses. I had LL's for both days for this. Our 2nd Epcot day I booked it for later in the day so we could see it lit up at night too. I will say that the line for this was really long most of the times I saw it in the app or while we were in the pavillion. We checked in for the LL at 11:27 and got off at 11:45. Our LL for Soarin' was at noon so we just sat and rested to wait for it. Tapped in at 12:02 and we were off at 12:26. We took a Bio break and then went to see the little movie that they have in there called Awesome Planet. It was nice. I remember last time we were there it was a movie with Timon and Pumbaa.

Day 2 Epcot continued.

When I left off we had come out of the Land Pavillion and were starting to look for something to eat/drink. We wanted to get something sooner rather than later because we had a 6:05 Reservation at the Biergarten. We ended up at the Connections Eatery.

Tim got a burger and fries.

Spiced Caramel Apple: Minute Maid Cranberry Juice, apple cider, and caramel syrup garnished with a cinnamon stick

This was REALLY good. I got it without the alcohol.

Earlier I had gotten a LL for Spaceship Earth so we headed there. Stand by line was hovering around 30 minutes most of the day, the LL was basically walk on. The ride was great as always.

Then our test track LL came up and we went there.

The new version is pretty good, Love the tiny nod to World of Motion (It's fun to be free!!")

After this we headed over to world showcase, we went to Mexico to ride the 3 Caballeros and then to the American Adventure. I Love that show. I noticed they did change the scenes playing during Golden Dreams and the actual recording is different, too. So amazing and moving as always. When we were over there the Candlelight Processional with Marlee Matlin started I took a quick pic.

I walked around in the stores in Germany and Italy while we waited for it to be time for our ADR for dinner. When it was time we checked in and waited maybe 10 minutes for a table. We were put at a 4 top by ourselves that was a few inches away from another 4 top that had a family sitting there halfway through their dinner. We were on the 2nd level. Clockwise from top: red cabbage and Spaetzle (with some of the gravy from the Sauerbraten). Pretzel Bread and then some roast chicken. Bottom is applesauce and a potato pancake, mac and cheese. At the center is a few brussels sprouts.

Apples and caramel sauce. Strudel with Vanilla Sauce, the little cup is a Black forest mousse parfait thing. and then the thing with the pretzel is a salted caramel cheesecake. Do you see the theme with the caramel? I LOVE caramel.

After dinner I went in the Karamel Kuche store to get some caramel treats to take back to the room. I got some caramel popcorn, a caramel butter Bar, A sea salt caramel square (I asked for milk and got dark) and a caramel rice crispy Mickey on a stick. I thought I ordered a caramel chocolate marshmallow, but I never got that. It wasn't on the receipt though so at least I wasn't charged. It was all yummy.

Day 3
Friday December 12

We slept in today because we didn't have anything pressing until the party that night. We skipped breakfast and decided to eat lunch at Disney Springs. I took some pics around the resort before we got on the bus. I took some on another day too but I'll put them all here.

We got to the Springs and walked around the shops a little bit then headed to find food. I took this for my brother, he is a Harley Fan. He used to belong to a Motorcycle club when he lived in Philly. He sold the original bike when he moved then a couple years later he bought another one but he doesn't have much time or opportunity to ride anymore so I think he either sold his newer bike or is still trying to sell it.

From Disney Springs we took the bus to the Contemporary and debated between walking and taking the monorail. (Hint we should have walked) Got to MK at about 5:40. The line to get in the party wasn't too bad. The area backstage that they route you through was crowded, lines for pics were not too bad but we didn't wait. I really liked the Gingerbread men, they were so cute. I might have gotten in line for them but when we got there, they were just leaving on a break so we left.

We headed to Tomorrowland and did Carousel of Progress which we waited just for the next show to load. Then we headed to Tron. There was a little back and forth with the husband who was reluctant but he went for me, especially when I told him that there was a normal seat instead of the bike. Both mine and his first time riding. It was scary at first with that initial launch but after that it was fun. When we got off the official party had started.

We walked around Tomorrowland and took some pics then we decided to try for the first parade and headed to Main Street. We had a good spot and saw most of the main show, then the Frozen Surprise, both were cute. Some pics of the view from our spot:

Then our great spot for the shows (We were at a crosswalk) became not a good spot for the parade as everyone filled in the crosswalk before we even knew what was happening. Luckily my hubby is tall and he took a few pics for me over the crowds.

After that we walked around a little while and then went to Pinocchio's and had the Fried Ravioli, some parmesan chicken strips and the snowflake dessert. Everything was pretty good.

The Fireworks started as we were finishing eating. I wish we could have seen from the front but they were still good behind the castle, it is like you are surrounded by them back there.
We did a couple rides interspersed with treat stops and pics. Peter Pan, Little Mermaid then ended the night with the Monster's Inc Xmas show, it was cute. We were the last show.
Overall I thought crowds weren't too bad. On Main Street and near the castle, yes but the rest of the park was very much low crowds.

Leaving I fully expected for it to be a nightmare but it wasn't too bad. It was crowded but it was moving. There was a bus at our stop when we got there but it was already pretty full and there was a family that was waiting for the next one to not have to stand so we did that too. Another bus came right away (before the first one even left)

We were pretty worn out from the late night but it was a really fun night.

[Wood Nymph]

We walked to the airport (it is right across the street) and it was lightly snowing. Took about 20-30 minutes to get through security. It was pretty busy for a small airport. We got to our gate and everything was fine at first, boarded on time and pulled back from the gate but then they said we had to get de-iced but there was a line of planes waiting to get on the "De-icing pad" Apparently Rochester airport only has one of these "Pads". I don't know Rochester is a small airport and all but it is also in the middle of snow country, you would think they would have more than one. By the time we finally took off it was after the time we were supposed to have landed in DC. Luckily we didn't miss our connection. Here is a pic of the "De- icing truck"

Rochester is historically snowy. I agree that they should have more than one de-icer pad. That's the worst part about traveling in the winter from a northern state.

While we were at the table, I went into the "Chat" section of the App and asked about that outlet that wasn't working. That worked out really well, they came and fixed it while we were at the food court.

I'll have to try the "chat" feature next time something needs fixing in our resort room.

I did a mobile order for breakfast (I love the mobile order by the way, it worked out really well for us).

We love using mobile order, especially for breakfast.

We got out of the park and on the bus at 9:10.

You got a lot of stuff done. I love how Epcot celebrates Christmas.

We slept in today because we didn't have anything pressing until the party that night. We skipped breakfast and decided to eat lunch at Disney Springs. I took some pics around the resort before we got on the bus. I took some on another day too but I'll put them all here.

The resort looks empty - all except the pool. There are always people who will swim in the coldest weather.

I didn't realize that party guests went through the backdoor route. We've used that route for exiting the park after fireworks. Now I know why it is so nicely decorated.

Day 4
Saturday Dec 13th

Today we are going to Hollywood Studios. We slept in a little due to the late night. Our first LL wasn't until I think 11:40 to 12:40 so we had time. The 3 we had were Toy Story, Star Tours and Mickey's Runaway Railway.

We had breakfast in the food court but I didn't get any pics. I had Pancakes and Tim had his usual Bacon egg and cheese bagel and plain bagel with cream cheese. That's him, lol he finds something he likes and he gets it every time. He got this every day we had breakfast there.

We headed to the bus and I don't think we waited a long time but Hollywood studios was the furthest one...

It was a fun ride as usual except I WON!! LOL I almost never win so I was happy. One of the early rooms didn't work for us, I forget which one, I'm pretty sure it was the 1st one right after the practice one.

After Toy Story we headed over to Galaxy's edge for our next LL for Smuggler's Run. We are not really into Star Wars but the ride is fun. We got in line at 12:24. We had a couple in front of us that were the pilots, we were the gunners and then 2 young teens behind us were the engineers.

We got off the ride at 12:46. We sat for a little bit and just enjoyed the atmosphere and decided how to go about the rest of the day. We had a LL for the Runaway Railway coming up. We headed over in that direction. I took a few pics

Next we went to Mickey's Runaway Railway. This is one that is new to us and I liked it. I do miss the Great Movie Ride but this one was fun.

When we came out of there we decided it was time for some food. We decided to try the ABC Commissary. I put in a Mobile order and Tim got the Buffalo Chicken Grilled Cheese and I got the shrimp Tacos. We really enjoyed this meal.

After Lunch we went to see the new Little Mermaid Show. It was really cute.

I liked the Great Movie Ride, too. It was a very unique ride.

Mickey's Runaway Railroad is a good ride. It seems like every time I ride it, I see something new.

I last left off in the middle of our HS day. (Sorry it was getting late and I was falling asleep at the computer, LOL)

Day 4 Continued...

One thing I wanted to say was that I never really looked at the schedule to Jollywood Nights when I was planning which days to go to each park. If I had, I might have changed the HS day to avoid going on a party day. That being said even with the short day, I think we did pretty much everything we needed/wanted to do. I knew we weren't going to do Rock N Roller coaster or Tower of Terror. I would have liked to have seen the Beauty and the Beast and Frozen shws and the new Villian show too. I really wanted to do Slinky Dog Dash too but the line was always too long and LL's were gone pretty early in the day. When I booked them prior I wasn't sure Tim would go on it so I didn't want to burn up one of our choices.

OK Back to the trip.

I know we didn't really need it but I got a LL for the Indiana Jones show that I think might have been the last one for the day. It was pretty full but there were whole sections open (on the far ends) We did end up close to the center. We sat for a while waiting for the show to start.

After Indiana Jones, We saw that the wait for TSMM was short so we headed over.

The wait I think was posted 25 minutes when we got in line but after about 15 minutes they started to make announcements that there were delays, that they were running at limited capacity. I don't know the full issues but one thing was that the area where they pulled off the accessible cars off to the side wasn't working. There was a family a few people in front of us that had 2 scooters and they had a CM come into the line talking to anyone with scooters/wheelchairs and I think they were telling them that the accessible area was what wasn't working and if they weren't able to do steps they were giving them a paper fast pass/ LL to get them on something else since they weren't going to be able to get on this today. They also had to stay in line until toward the end because they weren't able to route them out of the line from where we were.
It was at least an hour wait, The pic above was taken at 5:17 and this next one was taken at 6:22.

So they were basically sending us all out of the park after we got off the ride. I was able to go in the couple stores on Hollywood Blvd on the way out. I got myself a magnet.

We got out of the park at 6:49, on the Bus at 6:59 and left the parking lot at 7:14.

We got to the Resort and decided to get something to eat at the food court so I placed a mobile order. I got the Mojo Chicken. It was a half chicken and green beans and mashed potatoes. Tim got his usual Italian sandwich and then I got a Chocolate peppermint cupcake. A couple pics:

My chicken was really good, the beans were VERY Al Dente which I prefer them a little softer but other than that it was good.

I'm pretty sure the cupcake was frozen, it wasn't originally in my order when I went to the mobile order window and I had to go back and the lady had to go in the back to get it. Maybe other ones weren't frozen but this one was. It was only ok. The icing was good, the cake part was dry. Maybe being frozen affected that.

Back to the room and we watched The Polar Express and Elf before going to sleep.

Tomorrow we are going to Magic Kingdom.
