On the architecture, I'm guessing from the Baroque period, but that's a total guess. I'd have to look at my art history books to really know.

I've been off my funny game for a long time, Camille. It takes extra time to pull that out (at least for me) and I don't have a lot of that left anymore.

Your TR has been full of many ups and downs, poor puking children and husband, lovely German art and architecture. I cannot blame your daughter for being a bit frightened of those witches..... yeah, I think they would've freaked me out just a little.

Now living in Texas and having many a salsa fresco with cilantro, I love it!
I also love it on my taco's, but it's not a staple for said food.

YUM!!! tacos with salsa fresco! simply the best food ever created!

Now I can't wait to try all kinds of new foods in Germany, just reading the menu makes my mouth water. Uh oh! I'm drooling again Liesa

Truly we had some very good food this trip- the next post features a breakfast like only the Europeans can come up with! OH, and more pastries.....

THey are actually sort of cute in a folksy sort of way. I think there must have been like 8 or so of them "hanging around".

I spoke with Bekka today! She's a sweetheart, I love it when your kids answer the phone, they are so smart and very polite. I've raise my children to be polite as well, but of course at home they aren't so nice with me all the time. It's sooo refreshing to hear other children so wonderfully polite, considerate, and able to hold a conversation with an adult so well. Good job mom!

She's a very good girl, and can hold a nice conversation. I'm a proud mom of all my kids!

I saw another family of Germans come in here with 2 boys. I think it may be one of those Nuremberger landmarks for locals that has quite a following. Am I right, Magdalene?? The word that wholly defines this meal was RICH!

Every menu we got was in English; just like anywhere else AMercans go, they stand out like warts on a witch's face. I think they picked us out immediately and assumed we were too uncultured to know a 2nd language.

It was!! Although, I'd have preferred some speatzel (sp?) to more kraut- becuase everyone knows what THAT does!

Hi Tink!! I think the spooky factor went way up when I hyped them up some. She enjoyed the mystery of them some I think in the end! We still talk about our scary meal at the Witch's Little House.

Those dumpling like things were pretty good, except, I think the "sausage" in the middle actually had some liver mixed in. I like liver, but it just didn't seem right in this- at least I wasn't expecting that.

Hi Mary Ellen!! It was truly a memorable place- one we'd go back to WITH a reservation. Which we should have done, but dropped the ball on. Ah well, next time we'll know that the places Magdalene recommends will be the best ones that will need an ADR.

Ups and downs is a GREAT way to describe this last round of travel for our family! But, taking the good with the bad is often the only way to get the good. And really, this waylay was good for those who were going to be sick anyway! Better here than on a plane!!

The Hexenhausel looked really cool. Some of those witch were pretty darn scary. I was waiting for you to say one of them invited Anara to come warm up in their Gingerbread House.

It might be.... I really need to go back and do some research. I did spend the morning lookinng for what those style of windos is called and came up with "bay windows" and even found a picture of this VERY window in my search. It'd be fun now to go back and look carefully at Cindy's castle and see if there are any of these on it!!!

That would have been a good line- but had I said it there, she'd have had a potty accident on the way home for fear of the bathroom!
