DH and I LOVED LOVED LOVED Narcoosees at the GF when we went in August. Food was excellent. Atmosphere was relaxed and not nearly as hectic as many restaurants. The restaurant was a smaller restaurant than most. If you like seafood this is a fantastic choice. I had the whole lobster and it comes split open and ready to eat. No mess. And it tasted like heaven! I dream of that meal!

Is it tough to get to the GF from POFQ??? how would we do it:confused:

We did book for 2008 at POFQ and was wondering what was the best location to request for a room. We booked standard and would like to be near the pool and ground floor if they have it. Do they have ground floor?
The best way to request this is to word it just like you did here. Put it in order or importance. If ground floor is more important to you than where the room is, then request "ground floor, near pool."

The good news is that POFQ is so pleasantly compact that there's no such thing as an inconvenient room. I timed the farthest walk in the resort ... from the far end of Building 1 to the food court doors was 3 minutes 20 seconds. Since the pool is in the center of the complex, I imagine the farthest walk to the pool is about a minute-and-a-half.

We're going down the 25th of Nov. DW is now hooked on WDW at Christmas. Weather is usually good too, although we had a real cold spell last year - went down to 34 at night. It is rare though. See you there!!!!

My room will have the Mickey head wreath on the door!

We requested building 4 or 5, ground floor. We were put in building 5 on the 2nd floor, but our room was close to the stairs so it was fine. We thought it was a terrific location, very near the food court, not far from the bus stop, and right across the path from the hot tub. The laundry was also across the path with the pool just next to that. The boat dock was at the end of our 'street' and over just a bit.

We had great neighbors too! DISer thunderbird1 was just a handful of doors down, and TGMer dattlightner was in between us. :goodvibes

Next time I'd request building 5.

I'm not sure when you were there, but I just got back today, and while I was there -- Building 5, 2nd floor (5201) I found LGMHs several doors down, turned out they belonged to thunderbird1.

Has anyone used the laundry facilities at POFQ? What are the dryers like? Slow/fast? Hot/lukewarm? I am trying to decide if I should pack my cloth diapers or disposables while we are there. If the laundry situation is good, I think we may be CDing it this vacation!

I used the washers and dryers and had no problems. However, do make sure you check the insides of the washers and, especially, the dryers before you use them. I know one dryer had a large wad of something red and gooey on one of the fins. By the time I found a way to let people know not to use that dryer, someone's laundry was already in it. I'm afraid their load was probably ruined.

Also, the dryers run for longer than 30 minutes. I never dry on high, just medium or low, and found that jeans that hadn't dried in 30 minutes did dry by the time I had everything else folded. The dryer just kept right on running for at least another 20 minutes.

On the dryer subject, I had a couple that ran for close to an hour before I finally gave up and took my clothes out (they were dry). I've had bad experiences with WDW dryers before, so I usually break up a wash load into 2 dryer loads. It costs the same as running one dryer for 2 cycles, but takes half the time.

Aw shucks. You called us great neighbors. Of course, you were several doors down, so you probably couldn't hear when my children were engaging in slap-fights. :rolleyes1

And actually, I would disagree and say that you were the great neighbors, because you passed on a bunch of powerade to us on your last day. We went through it, but had some more of our own plus some other essentials, and you inspired us to pass them on to:

Building 5 is definitely the place to be, baby!

how recently was POFQ refurbished?

given that the buses are shared with POR, do buses take a long time? (making lots of stops as it goes around POR)?

are the buses first thing in the morning also shared?

I chatted one morning with a lady that has been coming to POFQ for years. She said that prior to 9/11 it had been slated to be turned over for military use, like Shades of Green. But after 9/11, the military was no longer interested so 2002 and 2003 they refurbished everything. She said those were the only two years since POFQ opened that they ever stayed at any other resort and they sure were glad to get back to POFQ in 2004.

In the mornings, there was often a lady there counting the number of people getting on a bus. I imagine maybe she was in contact with dispatch. If our bus seats were full, then we didn't go to Riverside. If we had just a few seats left, we went to just one stop in Riverside. If the bus was empty, we did the whole Riverside loop. It probably adds at least ten minutes to the trip.

For certain we always had to do the Riverside loop in the afternoons because there were people on board that needed to be dropped off at Riverside. In the evenings when leaving the parks, POFQ and Riverside usually had their own busses. Well, at least from Epcot they did -- we spent five of our seven evenings in Epcot. The other two were in MK but this old brain can't remember the busses from there.

At MK, POFQ and POR have separate buses and bus stops after 3:00 p.m. for the trip back to the resorts.

As far as buses from POFQ ... in my 7 mornings there, we did not go to POR 5 times, we went to 1 stop at POR 1 time, and we did the entire POR loop 1 time.

This is exactly how it was for us for the last 3 years at FQ. This year, the bus service (times, wait, etc) seemed much worse than previous years. I think they use the slow season to train drivers (Lots of TRAINING buses this year ;Sept 22 to Oct 1).

thanks!
we've stayed at POR 3 times (never at POFQ)...
all 3 times we were by the first stop, so doing the loop was tiring...
by the end of the loop, DD was already nauseous and we hadn't even gotten out on the road...

it would be nice not having to go through POR in the morning..

we'd only have to take the bus on MK days....the rest of the time we drive to the parks...

so i guess you would all recommend POFQ right?

is POFQ as spread out as POR?

DD and I are going by ourselves, so rather than the deluxes (that we've stayed at for the past few years) i thought we'd try something new..
initially i thought Pop Century, but because of discounts, POFQ doesn't seem much more expensive than pop.....
but i don't know anything about POFQ, so i can't decide..

Would definately recommend POFQ:goodvibes And no its no way as spread out as POR, we were in building 7 which is the furthest from the food court and it still only took less than 5 mins to walk there, yes the busses will sometimes go through POR but because the bus comes to POFQ first you will always get a seat and it didn't seem to bother us that much, we were just at the bus stop a little earlier to get to park opening.
POFQ has so much charm, and this quaint prettiness which is hard to describe. trust me POFQ was not my first choice, the pictures did not do it justice, and i really loved everything about it. the size, the very friendly CMs, the room decor, everything, in fact i would willingly trade my Wilderness Ldoge ressie in December to go back to POFQ.:goodvibes

We just returned from POFQ. I loved it. Everthing was great and we had the best room location. I didn't request a building but we got the one that I wanted. We were in building 5 on the 1st floor. We were so close to everthing. It was perfect. If anyone is going there soon, I highly recommend building 5. It's fantastic!!

so i've decided..
i'll try for POFQ, once i find out the dates we can go (this is for next month - november)...

You may want to check for availability now. I looked at the website becasue I was wishing for a "Christmas" trip and POFQ was booked the last week in November through the first week of December.

I do hope that you can get this pretty resort. We stayed there last August and really loved it. We just returned from a week at CBR, which was also very pretty but it is BIG! Given the choice I would choose POFQ even though the other was very nice.

we'd be going at the beginning of november (yes i know - in two weeks - sometimes we're spur of the moment)..
i can only make the reservations once i know how it will fit into our schedule (we get to the states in the beginning of nov.)

Amazing, I don't think I've read one bad review about FQ....We were in bldg 5 on the third floor, and with the dirty moldy room we had (don't forget the broken TV), I would never go back here. Must be it was just downright bad luck.
