Jenny - you get the mugs in the Food Court area.

I just got off the phone with the resort and I was a little upset. I called to make a request for a room and was told that since I had went through a TA, they couldn't do anything for me. All reservations go through Disney (in a way) anyway so I wasn't expecting that. I guess I will call my TA tomorrow.

Still though, I am very excited about our trip. We are leaving in 3 weeks for our first stay at a Moderate!!!:cool1:

that whole thing about going through the travel agent happened to my aunt because she was requesting a fridge for my grandfathers insulin and they said that they had to go through the travel agent.

Have a great time. If you happen to be riding the boat to DTD and you have Capt Grant as your driver, tell him I said "Hi". He's too funny.

thankss!! and i can tell you we will be taking that boat many times so i will see what capts we havee (:

He's 5'6" with short hair, and a great smile. If they have dumped the "canned man" he'll make you laugh. Make sure you spend some time in the Scat Cat lounge. Elliot is great.

You can call the resort number approx. 3-4 days prior to your arrival date and make/reconfirm any requests. But, you cannot do it sooner than that.

I would also make your requests directly with your TA as well...it doesn't hurt to do both. I always make my requests when I book and then I call the resort number about 3 days before we arrive. :goodvibes

Thank for the info. Oh! Does anyone have a website for the Port Orleans French Quarter.

Thanks, SkipperKim! I hear a lot of conflicting reports on people who have stayed in the renovated smoking rooms. I'd prefer to just avoid them alltogether so I don't have to worry about it :)

I believe we stayed in one recently in Bldg 2. I say "believe", because I saw other doors of the building with the no smoking symbol on it and ours didn't. We were not able to tell that it was a former smoking room. It smelled fresh and clean.

I am considering doing a load of laundry in Sept during our 10 day stay. :laundy:
DH would rather go buy more clothes and not do any laundry but I would rather have some drinks at the pool bar!
How much is it? Should I bring detergent or buy some there? What is a good time to do it ? Is it near the pool and pool bar? :confused3
Thanks. I love this thread!

Amy - If I remember correctly, the laundry is located adjacent to the pool area. I can't answer any other questions since I didn't do wash during last year's trip - I'm hoping someone else has some answers since I am interested in knowing too for our trip next week.

For a few years, I really resisted the idea of doing laundry when at WDW -- not anymore -- it's not a hassle for us at all...

POFQ Laundry room is right next to the pool bar...
Draw a square, cut it in half with a horizontal line. The top half is the hot tub area, the bottom half on the left is the pool bar and the bottom half on the right is the laundry area.
My proportions aren't perfect, but you can get a general idea.
Time of day doesn't seem to matter as much as day of the week -- weekends tend to be busy! I guess folks want to clean their stuff before they go home.
It's very near the pool and the pool bar -- also if you like to read and relax, it's very close to the table & umbrella area between the pool bar and the pool itself.

We bring our own detergent & dryer sheets (detergent in old soda bottle, make sure to distinguish it from soda so that no one drinks it) -- but we're rather particular about perfumes and dyes in our laundry.

Cost -- $2.00 washer run & $2.00 dryer (30 minutes) -- I use the medium heat setting. Typically, for us (2 adults), 2 washers, 3 dryer runs. I save quarters throughout the year in old film canisters & just toss them in the luggage. I "convert" one small rollaround suitcase into the dirty clothes basket at the bottom of the closet & just pack everything back in when it's clean.

Thanks so much. I will plan on doing it on Wednesday of our trip. :laundy:

Colleen - have a great time. Please post what you thought of POFQ. I just can't wait. I read this thread all the time to give me a fix!

We just moved our reservation to POR from POFQ :sad1: to take advantage of the Disney Visa Rewards code discount. I'm bummed because I wanted to stay at POFQ, but for over $500 in savings I couldn't say no.

I'm thinking about asking to stay in Parterre Place so it's close to POFQ. I know that I have read that it's a 15 min walk from POFQ to Boatwrights, but does anyone know how far of a walk it is from Parterre Place to the say, the main building (gift store, food court, etc.) or the pool?

Thanks!

Quiltymom: You're going to love POR. I've stayed at both of these resorts a number of times and they're both wonderful. Anyway, my daughter and I timed our walk from POFQ's pool to POR's food court and it took 10 minutes. This was at a leisurely pace. I would think that Parterre Place would be the same distance; since you'd have to cross the bridge to get to Parterre Place.

By the way, how many nights are you staying ? I'm wondering how many nights would give you a $500 savings.

Thanks

Thanks for the info! I was hoping that it would be something like that.

We will be staying there for 8 nights. It was a total difference of $519.81 to switch resorts using the Disney Visa with two adults & two kids under the age of 10. I can get myself a nice, new camera with the savings!

I'm just excited to be going and it's only 2 months away! :yay:

I don't know if this happens every day or just some days, but ....

It was about 11:45 p.m. and I wasn't sleepy. I snuck out of the room with a suitcase full of dirty clothes (2 loads) and a good book. I loaded the washers and went just outside the doors of the Laundry on the Levee (or whatever they call it), where I nestled into a nice bench and relaxed with this great book. About 5 minutes later, the lawn sprinklers came on and would have gotten at least my legs wet if it weren't for my amazing cat-like reflexes.:rotfl:

So, beware the laundry room bench at midnight .... :umbrella:

Even with looking at the photos of the beds:surfweb: , I can't tell if they are permanently built so they cannot be moved.

We are concerned about the double beds at POFQ. :scared: Can they be pushed together to make a king bed?

I scrolled through the FAQ in detail, but missed anything about this, so sorry if has been posted before.

Hey Amy! It is Mary Alice. After your trip bring back some good info about POFQ because I am helping to plan a trip for my sister and her family(once in a life time trip). I am recommending POFQ to them. Maybe see ya at the playground after your trip.
