Hi POFQ lovers! :wave2:

Am getting excited about our first stay at POFQ next June, but now am obsessing over the requests I made. I requested...non-smoking, first floor, corner room...in that order. Now I'm wondering if I should add a building number to it. I know the resort is compact, so walking is not an issue, but I really don't want a parking lot view. (paying for standard view) I hear good things about building 5, but am concerned with pool noise...we're all light sleepers...do NOT want noise!

Anybody have any thoughts?
Hi POFQ lover! Well... it won't hurt to ask for a specific bldg #. My suggestion is to call CRO or call your TA (if you used it) and have them note it on your reservation. Resorts are not always full...so if the bldg you want is available, then your chances are good if they know it ahead of time.

I have have stayed here 3X and my request have always been granted. I always ask for non-smoking (this is very important to me).. then I ask for the 3rd floor, so less foot traffic and I don't have to worry about any critters slithering in our room and lastly is the bldg #.

If you want bldg #5, ask to be put facing the courtyard, its quiet there. I have stayed there and it was nice and quiet on the 3rd floor and you can actually see the river from your room. I know it's only a request and not a guarantee, but it sure won't hurt to ask. Also when you check in, request it again before they give you the room number. Good luck!! You will have a fabulous time there!! :jester:

Fantasia,

Thanks for responding! (BTW, I look at your pictures EVERY day...wishing myself there! :goodvibes )

What is the "view" courtyard side of building 5? Is it trees/shrubs/lush landscaping or is it more of an expanse of yard? I think I'd rather be looking at lush trees or the cobblestone street as opposed to just a "yard." What about building 3? You said that you really like that one...why?

Isn't it crazy to be so obsessed with a room/building?!? :rotfl: All part of the fun of planning!!!!! :earboy2:

First of all, Fantasia ... Don't apoligize for re-posting those beautiful photos. I love looking at them, and know the others do, too.

Now Kanga1 ... I am in the same boat as you about building requests. All I had requested was no-smoking upper floor, but I definitely do not want a parking lot view! I was going to request Building 5 or 6 courtyard view, but like you, I'd rather look at some lush foliage or the pretty street than a plain courtyard. So which building would be the best for that? Glad you're asking the same questions I have. BTW, we're going in March with two teens. I already know they'll like POFQ, as they love strolling around Charleston, SC which looks sort of similar.

Let me check those pixs again... hopefully I have downloaded and it's on this thread... if not.. I'll be more than glad to download/post them here. Hold on... BRB!

I don't know what it is about these streets... but I just love walking down the Rue D' Baga and Rue D' Blues. I love strolling along on these streets. And I love bldg 3 cause it is even more peacefull cause you're away from the "hustle and bustle" ~ what is that! No such thing.. except at the food court/pool/lobby...BUT yet... you're so close to everything!

...to be continued to find that pix!

EDIT TO ADD: I'm back.. and I found the pix! Our room was facing directly to bldg 6 and we were close to the fountain where there's more trees there. The courtyard here is very simple. The courtyard at bldg 2, 3, and 1 is where there's tons of trees... very lush!

Ha ha ha ha... I was just not into those ugly masks. Don't get me wrong... I love the way the food court's Mardi Gras theme... but some of those faces just scare me! I should take some pictures next time. I'll try to take each of the props if I can.

Oh thanks for the courtyard pics Fantasia!!!!! It's just like I'm RIGHT THERE and can decide what building to request...(I know, no guarantees :p )

I just can't WAIT to be there!!!!

Just wondering if FQ stocks the room with complimentary coffee and the fixins'. Gotta have it to get going in the morning

Thanks

Tooth Fairy - notice your from Winston, we live in GSO and just booked the POFQ for 4/29-5/7/06. Fourth time at POR or POFQ but we haven't been since 1999. Looking forward to 8 days of Disney and hopefully riding a new Expedition Everest @ Animal Kingdom. Hoping to be one of the first 50,000 to ride it. :cool1:

Yes they have coffee makers in the room along with coffee sometimes mousekeeping needs a gentle reminder to restock but 99.9% of the time they are very good.

The first page of this thread has a listing of most of the room amenities and maps.

Thinking about making ADR's for both 'Ohana's and Chef Mickey's breakfasts. It will probably be close to the first seatings...maybe 7:30. What time should I plan on leaving POFQ? Do the buses run to MK that early on mornings when the park doesn't open until 9:00? :confused3

Hi u would be better geeting a taxi approx cost $13, buses start an hour before park opening :goodvibes

Fantasia, beautiful pics. Thanks so much for sharing them. I must ask - what camera do you have? Your pics are so crisp and clear - beautiful.

And we LOVE POFQ! We had only stayed at deluxe resorts before but with the exception of the smaller-than-queen beds, we never missed the deluxes! Great themeing, great service and pretty good mousekeeping (forgot to restock coffee, cups but did leave towel animals!). Never had a problem with the buses except for coming back to POFQ from Fantasmic. Loved the beingets but no chickory coffee?!?!
All and all, a great resort!

Kapp....I see you have also been to AKL....we have reservations next month at POFQ....which in your opinion is better suited for two boys....6 and 4?

I am all over these boards today trying to make a decision!! Thanks for your input!!!! :wave2:

This is a tough one! First, the boys will LOVE both resorts, period. If they love animals than AKL may win out. I don't think they will enjoy the themeing as much as an older child but if you have a savannah view room, than the AKL might win out but a hair as it is a deluxe. Your boys may like the bunk beds too but you have to request these. For POFQ, we were right next to the pool and my youngest (7) LOVED being that close to the pool. It also seems to be more kid-friendly (i.e more families and fewer couples, retirees, honeymooners, etc.) and a bit more active. If POFQ just had bigger beds, it would be perfect! You really can't go wrong with either. If you already have reservations at POFQ, I would stay with them and enjoy! Building 5 is near the pool, food court and no parking lot views!
Have a great time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kapp..thanks for the review!! I still don't know what to do...I will get a much much better deal at AKL....I can get a great FL resident rate there...whereas at the FQ I have to pay rack rate (no more FL resident rates available)...$165 a nite!!

I think that's a lot for a mod resort...I can pay that at AKL with my rate! Do you think FQ is worth $165...would you pay that?? YIKES!!!!!

Does anyone have any new pics of POFQ. We are going in December and I am anxious to see some new stuff. :teeth:
