Hi all,
Just wanted to share that after much deliberation over where to stay and a lot of lurking on the DIS resort board :disrocks: we've just booked POFQ for the second part of our WDW trip at the beginning of December :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
Unfortunately we could only book a water view room so we're hoping for the extra $$ the view won't be too much of a let-down.
Now just got 5 months to wait :hourglass :hourglass
Thanks for all the great information :thumbsup2
Just so you know...a water view could be a view of the pool, not the river.

Thanks, yes we do know - we've requested it be a river view but if not we won't be too bothered - any view looks gorgeous and it's not as if we'll be sat out on the corridor anyway! Only reason we considered a river (as we were considering paying extra for the view anyway) was because we thought it'd be more serene.

You will love it there. We are going this September for our 5th trip. Quiet and small...the best! Have a great time and don't miss MVMCP.

WE WON'T! We went last Christmas and LOVED it and we're probably going to attend the 4th December party this year during our POFQ stay :woohoo:
Have a great time on your trip :goodvibes

What an amazing thread!!! We are staying at POFQ from 2nd to 16th Sept and can't wait!!! :cheer2: Does anyone know what time/day the jazz band plays at Scats? I am a sax player and my DH is a drummer so we are looking forward to winding down at scats after a long day.:rockband: Also do they do yummy cocktails?? :drinking:

Hello!! We're staying at POFQ in October and I can't wait!!!! I think it will be just perfect for our two kiddos! Two questions though

1) We arrive pretty early. Do they ever let you check in earlier than 3???

2) Is there really only a curtain for a door to the bathroom?? :) Is this enough privacy when you're um on the toilet!!!??

Thanks!!

I've never stayed there before, but I thought the curtain separated the bathroom from the sink/closet area, and a door was between toilet/tub and sink/closet area like most hotels.

1. If you are going to be there at a time when there is lower volume, they can absolutely let you check in earlier if a room is available. We did that when we went in 2004 in September :)

2. Oh my! Wouldn't that be awful! The curtain is actually between the bedroom and where the sinks are. There is a door between the shower/toilet area and the sink area :thumbsup2

Hi, I posted this on the regular resorts board but I have a feeling you all will have the answer I need. My dgd is autistic and we would like to be at POFQ in April, 2008. We were at the world this past April during Patriots week and found it to be pretty busy. My question is, thinking of going either April l3-l9 or April 25-30th. Which would you pick for being less busy. Mostly looking to see how busy the cute pool is. Easter is early this year and I was thinking that most of the schools would be back in session the middle of April. Thanks for taking the time to read and respond.

Hey I think the week of 25-30th may be better, spring break should be completed by then, ours is the week of April 7th - 11th (Atlanta Ga area), not at Easter this year.

For those of you going during Free Dining, when are you going? We'll be there 31 Aug - 3 September. I may put some lime green mickey heads in our window!

Me and my family and friends will be there Aug 30 - Sept 3rd for my wedding! We're getting married on Sept 1st at Sea Breeze Point at the BW... so if you see me in the early morning hours around the resort in a white dress, say hi!

ps. I've never stayed at POFQ before OR had the beignets!

I just got off the phone with the resort, gotta love free long distance, they don't have camera rental at the resort. They only place they know of is at the parks at the camera shops. I didn't ask about rates or types of cameras. Maybe someone knows about this. :confused3
Thanks for that info.! I don't know what that site was talking about

We are staying at POFQ 8/27-9/3 so I will watch for you in your white dress! lol! Congrats!!
And to the other poster, definitely put the lime green Mickeys in your window! I'm planning on doing that with some WDW purchases :) :)

We were finally able to book FQ today w/ free dining. We have actually changed our resort many times for this trip but I called the other day to change to a moderate from WL and FQ wasn't available. So I called today and we were able to book it and add an extra night!

I've not made any requests as I've read that this resort is great and not a far walk from anything. We've stayed at CSR so I'm sure FQ will seem very compact in comparison.

Our DDs have always wanted to stay here so I'm really looking forward to our stay.

A question for the expers. We are planning on taking advantage of some resort downtime. We'd also like to visit the pool at PORS. What is the fastest or best way to get to the pool there? Should we just walk over or would it be better to take the bus or ferry? Thanks:flower3:

The fastest way from POFQ to the pool at POR will likely be to walk. Depending on the age/abilities of your family the walk will take about 10-15 minutes. If you wait for a bus, it would not only cost you the time to wait, but you would also have to ask to make sure it is going to POR next and not straight to a park. You could take the boat, but again you would have to wait. So if fast is what you want I recommend walking. Boats run about every 20 minutes until 4 PM, and after that about every 10 minutes.

I always liked walking up to POR, but taking the boat back to POFQ.

ETA - I just noticed we will be there the same time. Maybe we'll run into each other!

Guilty as charged. But this is the last time. :rolleyes1

Thanks so much for the info. Hope to see ya there!

Anyone been here lately?? I've seen pics and it looks great. We're booked for Nov. 1-6, 2008.

Is there a store where I can buy milk and fruit?

Do ALL rooms come with fridges? I have seen a few different answers on these forums....

Anyone stayed in BLD 7? We wanted it b/c it's far from pool/crowds/check in, but close enough to bus stop, and has never been a smoking building.

About how long do the buses take to get to the parks? I know WDW is ginormous, but I read it can take up to 45 minutes! That seems very long to me to be on a bus.......especially if we come back to the hotel to rest in the afternoon.

What are park hours like in NOV??

What is the weather like at night?

More questions to come, I am sure. Thanks guys!

Some hopefully helpful answers:

We were there in Oct 06 and will be there in Oct of 07!

Not a store on site per say but you can buy these at the food court. Not sure about the gift shop since we don't eat in the room.

Yes....it used to be that you had to pay extra but all mods have fridges at no cost. (mini bar sized)

Twice. Loved it both times. Last year we had the last room closest to POR...it seemed like there food court was closer ;) . Seriously, it was very very convenient and not too far from pool/check in/dock.

To me the longest trip was AK about 30 minutes but we stopped at all POR stops before. Sometimes you get lucky and only stop at the main stop. It is really quick and we always went back to the room to rest so it worked for us (no kids).
