Does anyone know where the designated smoking area is? Not that I smoke, but a friend is going in Oct and she smokes.

Thanks. I'm not real thrilled with them being near the food court, nor on the way to Guest Services.

Me, either. It seems like they are all over the place!

I noticed that, too. It seems odd to put a smoking area, where smokers will (hopefully) congregate, right outside the doors to the food court.:confused3 At least in most of the parks, the designated smoking areas seem to be set back in more secluded areas whenever possible.

And while I initially liked the concept of all rooms being nonsmoking, now I'm not so sure. At least if there are designated smoking rooms, you'd assume that most who plan to smoke in their rooms would choose the designated smoking rooms. But there are always some people who will smoke in their rooms no matter what. Without smoking rooms, I think there's a greater chance of any given room being smoky. I suppose if they have strictly enforced cleaning fees it will be okay but we'll see. I know I won't hesitate to ask for a room change. . . or two. . . until I get a clean room.

(Sorry--didn't mean to turn this into a(nother) smoking/nonsmoking rant.)

Hello all. I've been lurking quite a bit and have fallen in love with POFQ! We are going on a very last minute trip June 29 - July 4. Due to some financial issues, I have to wait and book on Wednesday. So far so good on room availability....I check everyday.

My question is.....I've read many times that it's not worth the extra money for water view...but what is best to request?

I've read that you make requests when you book....is this only if you book over the phone? Is there a way to make requests in online booking? We really want to be close to the pool/food court/bus stop. Anyone have any recommendations?

I know they can't always honor requests....just want to try. Thanks!

If you book online, there is no way to put special requests on your ressie. You could get the ressie # and call and have the CM put them on your ressie. Then 4 days before departure fax the resort room assigner with your request. While there is no guarantee any of your requests will be granted, it's always best to at least ask.

As far as desired locations. I'd recommend building 3, for right now. While building 4 has an ideal location, close to the bus stop and food court. It used to be a smoking building. I'm not sure if they have had to replace mattress or clean the carpet and drapes as of yet. So if that is a concern, then building 3.

Me, either. It seems like they are all over the place!

If you look at the Cont, there are only 3 areas set aside. I have no problem with the having an area, but why does it have to be a place they know people will be passing by???

I thought that resorts quit accepting fax requests quite awhile ago :confused3

DF and I will be checking in on Aug 30th and leaving in Sept 3rd.. we're getting married on Sept 1st.... so if you see me around the resort in a (casual) wedding gown, please stop and say hi!!! :cool1:

As far as I know NONE of the resorts really like fax requests anymore. Any building at POFQ is good. We were there in April for our 1st visit at POFQ & fell in love with it. We were in Bldg 5, 3rd floor. We were one room away from the
corner room (which was a riverview room). We came out of our room looked to the right & there was the river. It was just beautiful!! Our room # was 5327.
It was so quiet. We were there the end of April (busy season) & you wouldn't know it. My 18 yr old DS & 14 year old thought that POFQ was the best resort
so far. I would recommend it to anyone. All of you going-have a great time.
We were there for 10 days & loved every minute.

Whether they read it, who really knows. I have my preferences on my ressie. I send the fax which states the same thing as my ressie and why I want the top floor. I've always had very good luck with my ressies. I always thank them and tell them to have a magical day. Course, I'm also the same person that gives maid gifts, plus their tip. I always have extra hugs and kisses, Hershey's of course, for the ME people, front desk and conceirge people.

Here's what allearsnet has to say about this:

I know they do read them at POFQ, or they did the last time I was there they did. The last time I was there I'd requested a view of the fountain in building 3. Well, you can't see the fountain from the 3rd floor so they put us on the 1st floor. I only like the top floor, so we switched to a top floor room in bld 3.

Hi all,
Just wanted to share that after much deliberation over where to stay and a lot of lurking on the DIS resort board :disrocks: we've just booked POFQ for the second part of our WDW trip at the beginning of December :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
Unfortunately we could only book a water view room so we're hoping for the extra $$ the view won't be too much of a let-down.
Now just got 5 months to wait :hourglass :hourglass
Thanks for all the great information :thumbsup2

Hi, I posted this on the regular resorts board but I have a feeling you all will have the answer I need. My dgd is autistic and we would like to be at POFQ in April, 2008. We were at the world this past April during Patriots week and found it to be pretty busy. My question is, thinking of going either April l3-l9 or April 25-30th. Which would you pick for being less busy. Mostly looking to see how busy the cute pool is. Easter is early this year and I was thinking that most of the schools would be back in session the middle of April. Thanks for taking the time to read and respond.
