Has anyone stayed in Building 1? I imagine it's super quiet over there since there would be no through-traffic. Is there still a nice standard view (besides the parking lot)? I've stayed at POFQ once before, but we were in Building 6 and never ventured over to the other side of the resort.

Bldg 4 (or some of 5) is definitely closest to the food court/bus stop. Bldg 1 would be closest to POR, but it's one of the furthest away from the POFQ food court. Keep in mind, though, that, except during really busy times, busses stop at POFQ and then POR on their way to/from the parks. So if you were in bldg 4 and wanted to go over to POR, the shortest route with the least walking would be to hop on a bus (probably any bus--just ask the driver to make sure) and take that over the POR. The boat/walking path would certainly be scenic, but would also involve more walking. Have fun!

Building 7 is the closest to POR but its still about at least a 10 minute walk. I would also suggest your MIL take the bus to POR.

At least half of building 1 faces into the pretty courtyard area. I stayed at the far end of building 2, just a stone's throw from building 1.

I have a question about the waterslide. My DS4 can swim, but not strongly yet. Can we be at the bottom of slide to help him to edge? Or can we ride down with him? Thanks.

You can do both. The pool is not very deep and you can certainly either ride down with him or catch him when he reaches the bottom. :)

You are correct in assuming it is peaceful over there. We stayed in building 1 on our 1st visit.

Try this link, near the bottom is a map.

I was in building 1. It is pretty and peaceful. I wished that there was a bench so that I could just sit with my morning coffee and enjoy the view of the river. It is tranquil.

We were there in August and no one was allowed to slide with a child. We wanted to becasue my DGD was timid, but the lifeguards were pretty vigilant. We did have someone stationed at the bottom of the slide, however and that was fine.

Please help me out POFQ veterans! I have been debating whether or not to move from POFQ to SOG for the first four days before our free DDP starts and after looking at the photos of the resort...I just have to give it a try!!! Besides, I can stay at SOG anytime but don't know that I will ever be able to get POFQ with a 40% discount again.

So here's my question: which building should we request to be closest to a second restroom (sorry if it's TMI!)? With four of us in one room and one of them a teenage girl we almost need to install one of those numbered ticket thingies! Looking at the resort map I see there are public restrooms in the pool area that look close to Bldg. 3. But I'm also wondering if there are restrooms in Bldgs. A & B -- that way we could also ask for something in Bldgs. 4 & 5. Any other suggestions? Also, are there showers in the restrooms by the pool?

Buildings A and B house the food court, lounge, front desk, arcade, etc. Of course, they also have public restrooms in such facilities!

If that's a huge problem, then have her shower last. I assume you mean in the morning. The sinks are outside of the bathroom. So that should not be a big deal. There is a separate mirror by the dresser too.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll shoot for Building 1 in January. I like the idea of waking up to the peaceful setting.

It shouldn't be a problem. Most people don't like staying there because it is the furthest building from the bus stop. But all that means is it takes 2 extra minutes to get to your room. We had a lovely river view on our 1st stay there.

Really? I could have sworn the boat went the other way. I even asked other family members, and they thought it did, too. I guess that just shows why we have to stay close to the bus stop--no sense of direction. Which is why our stay at CBR was so comical--even after 10 days, I still couldn't find my way to our room. Heck--I got lost between the laundry facilities and our room. I think after a while, I'd taken the wrong ways so many times that they looked familiar, so I thought they were the right way. Sigh. I'm so pathetic. :sad2:

You should totally go for POFQ! We've stayed at lots of different resorts, and it's by far our favorite. Plus, it's so much fun to try a new resort, especially at 40% off. I don't know about showers near the pool, but bldgs 4 and 5 are right by the food court/bar, and there is a bathroom just through the bar area. I'd ask for 4 or 5 nearest the food court for the shortest trip to the restrooms.

Well.....the boat does go POFQ to POR to POFQ to DTD to POFQ......:lmao:

Our family vacationed at the Polynesian for 3 trips in a row. (DH only goes on family trips, I sneek in a few extras;) ). On the last full day of our 3rd trip there it was raining as we were walking back to TTC to Poly. I was racing back to get out of the rain and DH was taking his time (as usual) and he got lost:confused3 He had to go back to TTC ask for directions to the Poly. This is a man who can free hand draw a map of the world with all the major bodies of waters, capitals, ect...so he's good at directions unless he's on vacation.:lmao:

Last year on the 4th day of our vacation I left him at MK with our oldest (7 at the time) and I took the 2 youngers ones back to POFQ. He called me a few hours later because he couldn't remember the name of our hotel and wasn't believing the 7 year old. I think I'll have to write it in sharpie on his arm this year as we're going to POR and he'll surely get lost.

And I think we'll be renting a car, so it would actually be a benefit to be in Bldg 1 and have that lot right outside.

We had one, but it's just easier to use Disney transportation. Especially if you are going to MK. No matter how you work it you have to go thru TTC to drive yourself. But at MK, POFQ has its own bus stop in the evening.

The only time I wouldn't use a car is to go to MK. We rented one for the first time in May and I won't do it any other way again. It was so much more convenient to hop in the car and go whenever we wanted. It was great to not have to wait for a crowded bus at the end of the night. But you're right, the night we drove to MK to catch the fireworks was horrible. No choice though, we were staying in a DD hotel the last couple nights of our trip. All in all, the car made our trip MUCH more enjoyable!

The others are no problem, I agree. Though I sure wish there was a more direct route to Epcot from POFQ, since it's across the street.

Good point. I hope this hasn't been asked and answered a million times, but since Epcot is right next door, is there anywhere at POFQ, POR or in between that you can see Epcot's fireworks? Or even DTD, for that matter. Just wondering.

Hi all. We leave a week from tomorrow (Sat). Another new-to-Disney-resorts question here....

Does POFQ have the soap/shampoo/conditioner dispensers in the shower? We stayed at SOG last year and since they had them, I figured I'd better ask about POFQ before I leave without packing those items! Thanks!
