Thank You "Disney Angel in Disguise," Upgrade For Nate and His Family!!!

I just received the following e-mail from The Page Family:

And you think you're pumped up! All the well-wishers have really overwhelmed us; we had to go get ice cream to celebrate!

We tried to contact Disney but since Wishing Well used a travel agent to make the reservation they couldn't give us the room numbers. We'll have to call our TA in the morning to get the numbers. We'll forward them on to you tomorrow. They could tell us that both cabins were upgraded.

Chris did get an address from the people at Disney that will allow us to send a thank you to the person responsible for putting the upgrade through. We'll certainly place a thank you message on the DISboards as well.

Love the hat! Maybe we should get one for Nathan now that he's the Verandah Boy!! We'll be anxious to hear your trip report since I believe you are on the Eastern cruise as well.

Thanks again for your support

How awesome!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
And it couldn't happen to a more deserving family. What a sweetheart...I love those photos!
There are a lot of great people at DCL, and it's so nice to know that they came through to make Nate's trip an especially magical and wonderful one.

Thank you so very much Angel In Disguise (Shipahoy?). What comes to mind at this moment is the vintage Ray Milland/Jean Peters movie, "It Happens Every Spring." Only in your case it seems to occur every summer! For the second consecutive year (only counting those I am aware of), you have sacrificed profitability to promote a kindness all too unfamiliar in these times of headlined greed, dishonesty and mistrust.

We live in a world where those who disagree with our way of life willfully sacrifice their own peoples to destroy us. When hate thrives, there is no compassion. No peace. Thank you for proving the futility of their efforts...

I went for my routine jog tonight (that is literally the only 34 minutes I have to myself!) And I got to really thinking about all of this and how I could possibly say thank you to everyone so that my utmost gratitude would come through. All of a sudden I remembered a lesson my then 9 year old son taught me. My husband and I suffered a terrible loss when I miscarried our daughter. Everyone wanted to say things to make us feel better, and while I was really touched by their thoughtfulness, I still hurt like crazy. We had not really talked with our children about losing Megan yet because we didn't know what to say. One day I couldn't help it and just started bawling in the car with my 9 year old son. Of course he asked what was wrong and I tried to explain to him. He sat there for a few minutes and let me finish crying and then said, "Mom, I am really sorry." It was so simple and so sincere and it helped more than anything anyone had said.
So that brings me to my point. I could write a humorous letter of appreciation to all of you, or maybe something eloquent and full of tears, but in the end all I would have said is all I really can say and that is simply...and sincerely...thank you. This is something we will remember for the rest of our lives. I don't just mean the verandah either. Of course that is awesome, but what I will always remember is the family we have gained on this site. You have all enriched our lives.

All Love,
Chrsitina

This thread has touched my heart so deeply and the most important part in it is that it overflows with so much love and compassion, and most of all a deep faith that good things still happen to good people tho we have always remembered it the other way around - I know that the D.A.I.D. will or has alreadyy read this thread and knows how much he is cared about and that is the most important part of it - believe me I have no doubt that if he revealed himself to you and because he is so humble, he would not want the world to know so we will leave it at this and be ever so thankful that a family's wish has been made a reality.
God bless ya all
With love
Always

I also want to offer my prayers to this family and to the person who helped them get the verandah. I also would like to contribute something to the family's shipboard account, so they may use it as they like. What wonderful people you all are. Sherry

WOW...I am never usually at a loss for words, but this time I don't know what to say except to Nate and his loving family...have a wonderful trip. You will make memories to last forever.

To the D.A.I.D. - God Bless You for your kindness. May it be returned to you ten-fold.

Nancy

Okay - why didn't I read your email before reading the related post? "Subway" napkins do not make the best tissues....and my co-workers can't decide if it's PMS or what that has been walking around with a pink nose and sniffles. It stinks to not be able to cry gracefully!

I am a firm believer in angels, whether they be Disney Angels, or any other kind, and I also have complete faith in the power of prayer, even though I may not always understand the answer. I am so proud to be a member of this group of terrific people!. The power of our prayers, regardless of our various faiths and beliefs, has caused a wonderful miracle for Nate and his whole family.

It's amazing what kind of power a group of people united for a common, good cause, can command through prayer and faith.*

To Christina and her whole family: Have an awesome trip! Make lots of memories, relax and enjoy each other and the powerful, wonderful, magical forces that have formed around you...and don't forget to post a trip report with lots of pictures!

Beth

*Now, if we could get a few more friends together and work on world peace....

Call Disney's Cruise Gift Line at 1-800-601-8455.

Tell them that you would like to give an onboard ship credit to the family in any amount that you would care to donate.

The family is cruising on 9/6. Last name: Page. Mother: Christina. Children:Nicholas, Nathan and Nashua. This should be enough information for the CM to process the gift.

Hope that this is helpful to those who wish to contribute.

I have been away from the boards for the last few days and then read and caught up on all of this this morning. To this Disney Angel, God Bless you for your gift and love. So many people here on the DIS Boards are of the same calibur and full of ideas and support.

When we went on the 10/27 Wonder last year we were one of the first to board since my DM is wheel chair bound from her stroke. There was a family of 4 behind us with a boy in a wheelchair. I struck up a conversation with them and learned they were traveling as their t-shirts stated ;) as a Make a Wish Dream. So in this case MAW came through. Of course we let them board first and then saw them and spent time with them over the 4 days. They were a awesome family and had a spirit about them I can not describe.

I wish Nate and his family the best cruise ever!!!!

If everyone who could would just give $5, think how much.....

Buzz&Woddy'smom, I have really wanted to make sure that MAW does not look bad in all of this. I have said it before but want to say again that MAW has helped a whole lot of children. They were just not inclined to grant a wish to Nate. To say I was not upset by it would be a lie, however I want them to be able to continue their wish granting for other kids. I really want people to know though that they do not grant to all kids with terminal illnesses (infact it is not even required that the child be terminal for them to grant a wish). There are other groups that pick these families up, dust them off and give them a wish. In our case it was The Wishing Well Foundation (wishingwellusa.org) and the wish they are granting Nate is much more than we hoped for! MAW is the big name in wish granting and so I knew if I said my son was on a wish trip people would assume it was MAW and I wanted to make sure the credit went to the right place.
I do think however that the public should know that MAW does not grant to all kids and there are other groups that step in and help. They need finacial support as well, to pick up the slack left by MAW. Yet because MAW is the big one, they get all the support.
Sorry, I hope I don't trip climbing down from my soap box...

I've been away from the boards for a few days spending time with family in from out of town. Just caught up and can only say THANK YOU Disney Angel in Disguise and to the PAGE FAMILY have an awesome and incredible time!
