Tell me the "weather" where you live.

1) Alas, we are some of the "Suffering Few".
2) We have survived the 2020-2021 winter.
3) We have learned to endure the severe environment.
4) You guessed it, we live just outside WDW and have adapted.

5) As an example of our sufferings:
. . . we had light or drizzle rains four of past seven days
. . . we had night temps that DOVE below 45ºf overnight
. . we had day temperatures that SOARED to over 80ºf
6) Yes, we have suffered and yet have managed to survive.
7) Sometimes,
. . . it is tough
. . . it is almost unbearable
. . . it tortures the body and mind
8) But, we are determined to take pain for the sake of mankind.
9) We don't want Northerners to have anguish or pain.
. . . we are taking the agony from our WDW brothers
. . . we are happy our empathy and actions relieve others

NOTE:
. . . we do not need nor want pity for our suffering
. . . we know that helping others is its own reward

:rotfl2:Rusty, I love you but you graduated from Purdue University (it has an okay engineering school) which is north of Indianapolis and only 125 miles south of Chicago.

You worked for years in the great State of Ohio (where I lived) and although you traveled the world frequently, your home TAX domicile was "up north".

In retirement you went to sunny Florida where there is no state income tax. You've been there for many years now. But trying to pass yourself off as a Floridian/non-Yankee to make light of the weather up north is "Open Mic Night at the Improv". :mic: In relative terms, you're a Florida newbie.

Granted, not everyone can make the cut for the University of Alabama Engineering School (I hear it's very competitive nowadays) but I l will recommend you to the Dean of Engineering who was just a young pup graduate student (when I was in school) who taught some of my classes when professors were out of town. He keeps sending me (and my fellow grads) requests for money. :sad2: I need to give him your email address. And include a picture of your Mercedes convertible.

He's very persistent and won't take no for an answer (I have decades of proof).

Enjoy your sunshine. I'll be there in a few days which is only a few degrees warmer than where I am.

Hope to see you soon! :wave2:

PS - and in the spirit of the "weather" thread, I hope the sun is shining everywhere for our DIS posters.

I slept on it and also came up with the following:

- Florida has a large number of residents who move there in retirement
- Many DIS readers are not retired YET
- Some of them may end up in Florida when the DO retire

Plus there are advantages to being within about 2hrs driving time of the ocean in any direction. Which would make a nice little afternoon drive in a convertible Mercedes. :car:

Pretty today. Sunshine.
High in 70s

Retirement not on horizon for me. However, my plans are going to be one of two things.

1. Return to the Promised Land. This, of course, would be Tuscaloosa County in Alabama. I've already got a start on land with 20 acres in northern part of the county.

2. Return to the 2nd Promised Land. This would be eastern TN. The mountains are always calling. I used to live in Maryville, TN. However, I would not want to be in the city and land there is getting quite pricey.

Either way, I'm sure the weather will be just fine.

Sunny and 50's here today. Potential that we will climb into the low 60's tomorrow and Wednesday, before the highs drop back to normal (low 40's). Looking like rain on Wednesday, which might help with the melt. Our front yard (south facing, 90% sun) is mostly down to the grass at this point. Our back yard (north facing, 90% shade) still has more than a foot of snow piled up.

As for retirement - way off for us, but TBD. A lot will likely depend on where kids land. I expect we will be in the north (quite possibly here in WI) most of the year, but DW is increasingly open to 6-8 weeks in a FW down south each winter!

I haven't posted in a while. We have been on a stretch of nice days near 70. Big storms came through this morning, but the sun is out right now. Temps will be back near normal (50) for the next week or so.

Honestly this week has been beautiful. We will be above 70 and sunny. Finally stayed warm enough that my run at 7 am the temp was 53. The last two days was 42, but still i will take it.

Going to Ohio on Sat. I expect my weather updates wont be so nice.

it was beautiful for my run this morning. Mid 50s sunny. Next week not so much and with the time change my morning runs will be in the dark again :(.

It has been very windy. Right now the temperature is 57 & raining. Our low will be 43. All week it has been in the low 80's with high winds & warm nights.

Woke up to thunder and a downpour around 4 am. 42 and overcast right now. Rain starting back up after lunch and temp will plummet all day. One weatherman said there could be a foot of snow OR maybe just an inch of rain, it just depends. Real specific 🤷‍♂️

Let's hope for the rain!

Not horrible, but the temps definitely dropped the last few days, barely getting out of the 30's. Looks like another warm-up going into the weekend and then a nicer week ahead. This is all pretty normal for March in WI - unfortunately!
