I've been calling once or twice daily for a couple months trying to get one of the four restaurants we prefer for the Candlelight Processional package, but haven't had any luck. Right now, we have R&C. I'm trying to get excited about eating there, so I can put an end to the insanity & avoid more rejection from Disney Dining. ;) So, what do you like about eating there? What do you think is the best appetizer, entree, & dessert? Anything positive you want to share would be great. :goodvibes

My husband & I went the first week of December and had a BLAST! I wish I remembered our waiter's name (he was SUPERB!!!). We both had the fish & chips (both great). Portions were HUGE!!! I had the chocolate scotch cake, and my husband had the frozen vanilla custard -- again, both great and huge portions! Service was SPLENDID -- close to the best we had anywhere in WDW.

Piece of advice (in case you haven't already heard this): once you're in the park, go to guest services and tell them you're celebrating either a birthday or an anniversary. They'll give you a button to wear while you're around the park. You'll get TONS of smiles and congratulations and possibly a perk here or there. We got a couple of perks at Rose & Crown: free glowing Tink & Captain Hook on our drinks, complimentary champagne, AND a complimentary dessert. Hope you enjoy as much as we did!!

I'm so glad to see you enjoyed R&C. :cool1: I don't like fried food, but I'm sure my DH will love the fish & chips. The desserts sound great! Then again, I've never tried a dessert I didn't like. ;) We won't be celebrating anything in particular, but it's great that you received a little extra pixie dust for your special event. :thumbsup2

We've been to R & C a few times and loved it.
Tne bangers & mash, fish & chips were so good. I like the pub atmosphere and the waiters were very friendly- just a good time!

The fish & chips from the take out window didn't taste as good.

My DH liked the fish & chips from the CS. He should love them inside then. :thumbsup2 He's looking forward to trying it. There's a few entrees that interest him. Our DS hasn't voiced an opinion, but the lamb sounds right up his alley. I'm the one having a hard time finding something I think I'll like. When you don't like fried or comfort foods, there's not a lot to choose from.

We loved the R & C too! The potato and leek soup was a lovely appetizer. I had the chicken patsy (a pastry filled thingy! ) that was very tasty too. We were newbies and didn't try dessert...not making that mistake again. I am looking forward to the sticky toffee pudding this go round!

We ate there on our recent trip the last week in Oct. DH and I loved it, it was a pleasant surprise! :thumbsup2 The food was great, DH had the cheese plate appetizer and the fish and chips and I had the potato leek soup and the chicken breast. Our waitress was Allison and she was very friendly, we had a great time with her. We had a nice table inside by the fireplace. We didn't feel rushed and dinner was spaced out nicely. The chef comes out frequently to see how everyone's meal was. We thought that was a nice touch. We will definitely eat there again! :)

The potato leek soup is very tasty. As are the fish and chips, and the fish is huge. I do prefer the portion size at the take out window because the amount you get inside is too much for me to eat. It is yummy though. They used to have cottage pie, which is like sheperd's pie only with beef instead of lamb. That was very good. DD liked the bangers and Mash too. I can't remember the desserts we've had, but they were good too.

Rose & Crown is a must do every trip for us. The food is always good. The service has always been great. We love the potato leek soup. What's not to love? :confused3

We got stuck there on our last trip, during the food and wine festival this year. We had planned on eating lunch and dinner at the stands, but the crowds were getting bad, one of the only ADR's available for dinner at that point was Rose & Crown. I had looked at the menu a number of times, and never wanted to eat there. But I was pleasantly suprised. The food was good, I got the steak and fish. Very tasty. The service excellent of course, and we had a table at the back of the restaurant near the water. Very nice, relaxing meal.

We ate their last year in June. It was very good. I enjoyed the cheese plate and tried DHs yummy soup. I had a steak (ordered sauce on the side) I had no complaints:goodvibes

I'm so glad to see all the good reviews. There doesn't seem to be many R&C reviews, & the ones I've seen are mostly bad. I knew there had to be some R&C lovers out there somewhere. :goodvibes

Sadly people are much more likely to report negative feedback than positive. Just think of it like this.....for every 1 negative review you read, there are at least 100 unwritten positive reviews. For every positive written review, imagine that it stands for the experience of 1,000 other people. With that formula, you will see that almost every dining location at WDW is just fine.

Have been to R&C several times and we plan on going back in January. I'll agree with PP's about fish 'n' chips. Other favorite choices in the past have been

APPETIZERS - Fruit & cheese plate, potato soup

DESSERTS - Have tried them all I think, and have yet to get a bad one. There is one called an Apple Crumble that was the best though

Have fun.

Thanks to all for your help. I think we've decided to got to SAI this time, & will try R&C, when we're paying OOP. R&C just doesn't seem like a good deal for the OOP price of the CP package.

My sister and I were just talking about this yesterday. I have never eaten there but her and her husband go all the time. It is one of his favorite rest. She said they have had the cheese plate and he gets the steak and fish and chips and she gets the lamb.

WE love R&C. We actually had our Disney Wedding Rehearsal Dinner there!
The cheese plate appetizer is delicious! I also enjoy the Fish & chips and chicken dishes that they have (they change ever so often). It is a great experience. :thumbsup2

1) Bangars and Mash
2) The Imperial Sampler
3) View while watching Illuminations

We ate there twice, most recently in September 2008. We have been very pleased both times. Items we have eaten include Cheese Plate, Potato and Leek Soup, Turkey Sandwich, Fish and Chips, Shepard's Pie, Chocolate Scotch Cake, and Sticky Toffee Pudding.

This past September our waiter suggested the Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert, but I was (wrongly) imagining hard brittle toffee and didn't order it. I had the chocolate cake and SO got the toffee pudding. They were both great, but the toffee pudding was amazing!!
