Hey All,

We usually stay DVC, but booked a cash stay at POFQ for end of Sept. Can you share your experiences with this resort please? How are the rooms? Anything to look out for? Is it a quiet resort? Any advice or tips would be great!

TIA!

:)

It’s been a few years since our stay but I do remember that our favorite thing about POFQ is the small size of the resort. No matter where they put you, you’re not far from the food court, bus stop, or pool. Great place! We would have stayed there on other occasions too, but many times it’s blocked out of certain discounts.

Love Port Orleans French Quarter. Small size. Not expensive, boat ride to Disney Springs.

Nice at the Holidays too.

beautiful resort, quiet compact. was on my bucket list.
you can walk over to POR and use their pools

great deal of information here:

Lovely resort, smaller mod size, ok food court ( POR better... take a short walk there on the lighted path along the river)
Personally think the pool area much more geared towards younger kids. outdoor bar bar nice
Boat to disney springs nice. Great choice, enjoy

It's great. The only resort I've stayed at multiple times.
  1. They just finished renovating/refurnishing all the rooms.
  2. Great walk between FQ and Riverside (to go between pools or food options)
  3. The boat to Disney Springs is just incredible. It's why I think this is the best resort on property. There's hardly a wait for them, too.
  4. The theming, walking the roads there, and the rooms are great.

I was there last October for a short trip with just my DH. I enjoyed it because of its small size, short walk to the bus stop. I liked the boat to Disney Springs, atmospheric. I also thought the food court food was pretty good (with the exception of the heavy, greasy beignets... I'm in the minority here but I did not care for them and they made me feel sick). Our room request was granted (we had a standard room but I asked for a corner to get 2 windows). The room size was OK but it felt worn out/dusty/old to me, and so I wasn't super impressed with the room for the price we were paying, but I have read since our visit that all of the rooms have undergone soft refurbs so hopefully that's sorted out now. We walked to POR one night which was nice to have dinner at Boatwright's.

We also didn't have a vehicle for that trip and relied on the buses. We had an issue one day waiting for an Epcot bus -- we waited almost an hour. We just kept watching the sign change every 5 minutes. About 4 AK buses came during the time we were waiting for one EP bus. Then I was worried about actually getting on the bus because a lot of people had accumulated and there is no queue, just a free-for-all and there are lots of people who don't mind bullying their way to the front. We did make it though. I'd prefer to have my own car there but with the parking fee now, it would add a lot of cost to rent a car then pay for that on top of it.

We're a family of 5 so that was probably our only visit to POFQ since we can't stay there with the kids, but I did enjoy it overall.

After reading so much about POFQ it became a must try for me. We are staying for two nights in November to give it a try. We are very excited.

It's a nice little resort. I ended up in basically the furthest room from the center on my last trip (far corner of building 7) and even that wasn't that far.

It is a moderate, so it's more motel-style with external corridors and easy-to-look-into windows. There is no table-service restaurant (unless you go over to Boatwright's at Riverside), but the food court area is fairly good.

I'd consider staying there again if I were doing a solo trip.

I love the POFQ. Very quiet if you don't stay in pool-facing rooms. Both times I stayed there I requested top floor and got it both times. Given that this is a moderate and is motel style without private balconies, I wouldn't spend extra for river view. That said, I would request garden view as opposed to standard which could be next to the noise of the parking lots--although not too bad since they are not right on top of the lots. Also, I prefer the food court at POR so I always take the pleasant walk in the morning over to POR for breakfast. Finally, the bus service from POFQ has been very good in my experience. In summary, can't go wrong with this great resort. Have lots of fun at WDW!

Nice at the Holidays too.
Thanks for the reminder! I just booked POFQ today for Christmas and New Years. I’ve been second guessing myself all day, thinking I should stay at Pop and save a few bucks. But I love POFQ and cant wait to go back. :)

I loved listening to the jazz in the lobby, gift shop and courtyard! I like the small size and Disney Springs boat. I liked the central location. It seemed to be quick trips to all the parks.

I definitely would stay again since AKL and WL are priced out of my reach these days.

I just love POFQ, but I also love the atmosphere of New Orleans. I find the resort is charming and easy to walk around. It's the smallest of Disney properties but larger than other chain's boutique hotels. We enjoyed the Scat Cat Club where they have live music. It's easy to get around the resort and the rooms are close to everything. I love taking the boat from the resort to DS - such a pleasant ride - totally relaxing.

To me, the only drawback was the pool area - because the resort is small, the pool area is also small. Unlike the larger resorts, there are no quiet pools.

But, IMO, the resort is so wonderful ( and we don't spend a ton of time by the pool ) we're willing to overlook how I feel about the pool.
