Tell me about Keurig coffee makers are they worth it?

I am glad that someone has found a good hot chocolate cup. I was hoping there was one, because that is a major selling point for us. My DH only drinks coffee in winter, I only drink tea(everyday) and the kids love hot chocolate, but I hate making it!
We can all be happy with one machine!!
I need to get out and buy one, but i have been waiting on a sale/coupon because I want to buy it at a BM store in case I need to return it.
Any one got a great deal on the B70?

Thanks

I got my B70 at Kohls. I had a gift card to use. I went through ebates. They are doing an extra 10% off appliances ($152.99), plus I had an extra 15% off discount. For me it was the cheapest (because of my gift card). Newegg.com has them for $154 (free shipping/no tax). I think Amazon is the same price, but I have to pay sales tax for Amazon.

If there is a problem, I can just return it to Kohls.

Bed Bath & Beyond is doing 20% off.

A few questions for you seasoned Keurig users:
1) Does the mini make a smaller cup (6oz)? If so, are the coffee pods sold in smaller sizes?
2) If you drink one cup a day, why not buy the mini? What's the advantage of getting the larger one?
3) Do the flavored coffees taste similar to the ones you get at the gas stations (like French Vanilla) where the coffee is thicker, sweeter and frothy on top, or is it just black coffee with flavor added?

Thanks for the help!

I have the larger model as opposed to the mini but will try to answer anyway. I believe with the mini, there isn't a resevior so you have to add the water each time you make a cup. With the larger models, you can brew one after another with only a slight wait in between. the flavored coffees are basically just coffee with flavor. Not thicker or frothy.

I love my Keurig and don't regret spending the $$ one bit. I try to keep the pod cost 40cents per cup. I agree with the previous poster, I don't drink as much as the first cup is perfect.

I've been keeping an eye on the mini for my DH and I see tons of positive feedback so I finally ordered it for him. Amazon has a great price $79.95 and I love their service but I also wanted to be able to return it locally in case there was an issue. Kohl's has a mini for $80.99 (it shows $89.99) and with 15% off (save4xmas) it comes to only $68.85 and tax. There is no s/h if you spend $75 so I found something else to make up the difference. I think $68 is very reasonable and I know my DH will love this and will be shocked! :)

I drink Caribou Mahogany

Couldn't tell from your post if you use a Keurig, but Mahogany IS available in K-cups now. I get it from Green Mountain and alternate that with their Lake and Lodge, and throw in French Roast once in a while for variety.

Another Keurig lover here. :lovestruc

DH has found the Emeril brand coffee to be very strong (strong enough to stand a spoon up in ;)). Though I can't verify that, as I don't drink hot coffee.

I don't drink hot coffee either. i am looking for some reviews on the keurig model that makes iced coffee. anyone??

I have the Keurig which I LOVE but was interested in upgrading it when I heard about the iced feature. It is the Premium version but now has a 4oz option added to it that you use with a cup of ice. I really think that is all it is. It would still have to be hot water to brew the coffee so the smaller oz option would allow for a cup of ice with no spillage. I am assuming this, please correct me if I am wrong. :confused3

Since I already have the Premium which I bought for the 12oz feature, I do not need another one. I can just use a bigger mug with ice and use the 6oz feature.

Hope this helps if in fact I am even correct on my assumptions.

You are correct. :) All the iced coffee option is it's a smaller amount of coffee (4 oz I believe). It's still brewed HOT. Honestly, you can do that with any size of the Keurigs. For the mini's, just don't add as much water.

I brew mine regular (no ice) and then put it in the fridge for 15 mins or so to cool it down. :goodvibes

We do not drink coffee but was considering the Keurig for hot chocolate. Our church has a coffee house in it that serves hot chocolate and it is the best ever. I dont know what brand they use but just wondering if the hot chocolate coming out of the Keurig is worth the investment. If so this would work for us and then we would have a coffee pot for the few times someone visits and wants coffee. Please let me know if you think it is worth it for the hot chocolate and if so which one to get. Thanks.

I think it is a very expensive option for hot chocolate honestly and I  my Keurig. It tastes like any water based hot chocolate from a packet. The kcups are nice and convenient, but it won't taste any better than the normal swiss miss you can make at home. I view the hot chocolate as an added bonus to the machine...I don't mind the taste at all and like the convenience. However, this is NOT a good machine for just hot chocolate unless money is no issue or you like the watery hot chocolates.

ETA: I didn't drink coffee either before we got this machine. I mainly got it for DH and company figuring I would drink an occassional hot chocolate. Well, I have found some flavored coffees that I love and use the machine daily now. I really enjoy taking a cup in my travel mug to work. You might be surprised if you do get one how good some of the coffees really are!

YUCK! I am a real coffee junkie, tastes too much like instant. Our boss bought it for us because he thought it looked great and our clients would like it, but we still use our Bunn. The tea is much better than the coffee, hot choc, tastes watered down?

Thanks for the quick response. That is exactly what I wanted to know. I would love to find a good hot chocolate maker or mix that is better than swiss miss. I am just going to have to ask at church what kind of hot chocolate they use. It is so chocolatey and good. I am sure it has something to do with their mix and the nice industrial machine they use.

I purchased one of these through QVC, but I hear people talking about a "holiday sampler" of coffees. I would like to pick that up too. Can someone tell me where they have seen that and what flavor coffees are in there? I am hearing the Golden French Toast is really good, and would like to try it, but don't want run all over looking for it. I was hoping it was in the holiday sampler.

I do the same, brew the coffee, let it cool a bit then add the ice. Actually I invested the money in a good lined insulated cup. If I add the coffee, milk, and ice, by the time I get to work my coffee is fully iced. The other thing I found works is to also brew a cup or two then freeze it. This way you still get the iced but it's less watered down.

Yes, I know it's cheaper to brew coffee in a cheaper pot. However I'm a coffee snob. Plus, it used to be Dunkin Donuts and/or Starbucks daily for me. Brewing 2 pods into a large cup before I go to work is still budget compared to $10 on coffee a day. :coffee::coffee::coffee: I subscribe and save with Amazon, and I do the large boxes so it works out to be about 30 cents a cup.

Now I had no clue how much Equal actually costs until I had to start buying it. Ironic how you take it that for granted when you get coffee out. :rotfl:

Try Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I saw it there last weekend.

Yes, that is where I got mine. $24.99 with a 20% it is 19.99 for 48 kcups (41.6 cents/cup)

12- Gingerbread
12- Holiday Blend
12- Golden French Toast
12- Spicy Eggnog

We got our Keurig as a gift last Christmas. We LOVE it. I drink decaf usually, and DH prefers "high test"....with the Keurig, we both get what we want. We like Coffee People Donut Shop, Caribou Daybreak, and Green Mountain French Roast decaf. We don't care for the Green Mountain hot cocoa. It sticks inside the cup and it's very watery, even on the smallest setting. Blah!:scared:

I hope it is worth it, I also ordered the QVC TSV for my DH for Xmas. I am disappointed to hear the hot chocolate is yucky though, my kids were looking forward to that!

Not a fan of the Green Mountain hot cocoa, as it sticks to the cup and comes out watery, even on the smallest setting. However, you can open up the k-cup, dump the cocoa mix into your cup, and run the water through without a k-cup in the filter. It kind of defeats the purpose, but you will get a better cup of hot cocoa from the k-cups that come in the variety pack!

Mine came with 72 Kcups and only one hot cocoa and I can't remember the brand. We didn't like how it turned out though. I haven't spent the money on other brands, i just put regular hot cocoa mix in a mug and use the hot water from the coffee maker. I do this with tea bags too. I have so many that I need to use up first before I buy the Kcups tea.
