I've been flying United since I was 13, and just flew my first TED flight in August.
To be honest, the only differance I noticed between normal UA flights and TED, is that there is no first class on the flight. It's the same UA attendants, the same UA piolots, the same everything. The meal-to-purchase was decent, around $8 for a salad or sandwich and was tasty. Non-alcholic drinks are still free, $5 for beer, wine, and liquor. Same in flight magazines. One the way there they showed sit-coms, on the way back they had a movie.
So, if you are used to UA and like them, you'll be just fine with TED.
