I've become a lot better at planning our meals on a weekly basis. I'm currently a Six O'Clock Scramble subscriber, and I'll pull 2-3 recipes from that on any given week. They are typically very healthy and include all the nutritionals, which helps a lot! I usually shop over lunch on Fridays, when I pick up some yummy fresh sushi and seaweed salad at Wegmans (my lunchtime treat!). Other planning tools I use are my make-aheads (see below) and a few select cookbooks (Cooking Light (the kids one), WW, Deceptively Delicious, etc.). I'm debating whether I'll renew Six O'Clock Scramble - it makes things so easy, but I do have all these great books I could be using much more!
Make-aheads. Well, I don't make a ton of things ahead here due to a time and space challenge - with one exception. I try to do a Let's Dish session once per month. It's one of those services where you go to their location and fix up your meals, then take them home to your freezer. We have a side-by-side fridge/freezer, so space is a serious issue. So I do four entrees, split, for a total of eight dinners. Those typically serve three people - and our two DDs count as one serving, really. I find they're very cost effective for us, and it encourages us to try some new things. I also love that they publish WW points and points plus for their meals - I can rule some out right off the bat, but there are always lots of great choices. I'll stop sounding like a commercial now.
Welcome, Annette, from another Virginian (granted, a transplant

). Your great start is inspiring! Way to go!
I'm so sorry! We have two little feline furbabies here, and they are so precious. It's hard to say goodbye to them even when you know their time has come.

I have to crow a little bit because I've never had such a great weekend for exercise, and it's all down to the HH challenge. I don't think I'd have pushed myself if it weren't for that little competitive edge!

Yesterday was gorgeous, up over 60 here, so we had outdoor activity and a great Just Dance session (DDs have just starting doing it with me, which is a lot of fun - I also like that they see me getting exercise). We did that again today after church, and then I broke my 30-minute speed record on the exercise bike thanks to an exciting football game (Go Giants!).
Foodwise, I've been OP so far this weekend. This morning, I had just two clementines and a banana because we were running out the door to church. Drank 24 oz of water during the service. Then the girls really wanted to go to CA Tortilla for lunch - kids eat free at our location on Sundays - so off we went. I knew what I was going to order to stay on plan, and I was also able to get the nutritional calculator up on my phone to confirm the info and calculate the points.
Tonight I'm making a Six O'Clock Scramble ravioli lasagna for dinner, at 8 PointsPlus/serving.
Next weekend will pose a whole 'nother challenge - we'll be headed to my mother-in-law's for the weekend! NO issues there at all - we have a great relationship. But it's a location where I have a harder time making good food choices and getting exercise. I did a little research today, though, and found that there's a Y right near her house, and I can do a guest visit for $10. Not the cheapest for a walk-in workout, but I think if I can do that on Saturday, it'll be well worth it. We also eat out a lot, and I know I'll go over for at least 1-2 of the days we're there, but hopefully I can balance that with a great rest of the week!
XO
