QOTD Thursday, 1/5/12 What exercise excuse do you use most often?
I don't have time
I'm too tired
It's too difficult for me
It's boring
I don't want people to see me
I don't know what I'm doing
All of the above
I don't make any of these excuses
For me, it's always been the first two - I don't have time, and I'm too tired. Before I started exercising, it was also not wanting people to see me, feeling like I'd be completely out of place in a gym. That one was dispelled pretty quickly once I actually started going and realized that everyone is in their own zone and really couldn't care less about me huffing away on an elliptical.
I no longer belong to a gym and have been piecing together workouts at home. Getting up in the morning to work out is probably my biggest get-healthy challenge - especially when it's cold and dark outside. I just want that extra time to sleep! This morning, I went ahead and gave myself the extra sleep. Then I got up, did a little work, and then did 20 minutes of Just Dance (Just Sweat) followed by 30 minutes on the bike - 8.5 miles! I stretched, worked a little more, showered, and had a late breakfast. Gotta say, I wish I'd just gotten up when I should have, but I do feel pretty great right now.
Things I'm noticing as I get back into old (and try new) exercise routines:
1) I love Just Dance! I'm a hopeless klutz, but I'm picking some of the moves up, and it's fun. I knew I could last a few songs, so I went with the "tough" Just Sweat weekly goal. I like that if you go over the 1000 points on one day, it still makes you get the 1000 points the next day.

2) To combat boredom and to make the time go faster on my exercise bike (which really does make me break a serious sweat when I get going!), I watch TV. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, I'm watching BL. This morning, I watched the Today Show, as nothing was hanging out on the DVR but the kids' shows. And I noticed something that's probably a no-brainer - during BL, the commercials are for healthy foods, weight-loss programs, and the like. During the Today Show? Fast food (giant cheeseburgers in my face) and the Olive Garden (now I want to go throw myself into a giant pile of pasta). I'm looking forward to getting some more shows on DVD through Netflix so I can avoid this very unwanted temptation!
Hope everyone has a great Thursday!
XO
