Team Mickey - Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Challenge

I went downstairs to work on the laundry and fell down the stairs. :headache: I hurt my back, my knees, and my arm, so now I'm sitting here with ice packs.:sad2:
 Oh no! Take it easy.

Well I screwed up when I made dinner. I was making oven roasted potatoes for the rest of the family and unfortunately I made the BEST batch I ever have. So instead of the small amount I was planning to have I had a full serving or two But I actually haven't had any carb today or any starchy carb this week so it probably isn't too bad. I guess I will find out tomorrow! :rolleyes1 Note to self, don't try to hard to make the things I shouldn't be eating turn out good. ;)

I also made a batch of roasted black beans with lots of garlic. Can't wait to have them on a salad instead of croutons. They are so good I have been munching on them, hope there are some left for dinner tomorrow!

Bellebookworm9- Hope you are feeling better tonight.

I was doing so well until I got stuck at work and ended up eating fries and my favorite grilled chicken and eggplant rollup on pita with mozzarella and pesto. For dinner I had a salad and pork chop. I had some strawberries and whip cream for dessert and then I had a creme de menthe cookie. Oh well, PMS does it again!

Gotta work in the morning, take my parents somewhere, go to Home Depot, come home and then take Ash to a special dance class, pick up supper for Briana and Izzie, come home and get Ash ready for church and then go to church until 8. We will eat stuff at church at the Agape (Epiphany Service).

Saturday my brother is coming and the girls each have basketball in the morning.

QOTD: Lately my reason is that I don't have time. After taking my parents back to NC next week I will make time even if it is at 5am once again. I will do a workout downstairs in the morning so I don't wake up everyone and then I will try and squeeze in the BL Kinect game and some Just Dance 3 everyday!

Well, need to get folding laundry now. Watching Live with Kelly from this morning with Darren Criss from Glee! Would love to see him on Broadway but he's only there a few weeks!

QOTD Thursday, 1/5/12 What exercise excuse do you use most often?
I don't have time
I'm too tired
It's too difficult for me
It's boring
I don't want people to see me
I don't know what I'm doing
All of the above
I don't make any of these excuses

Definitely "I'm too tired"...my workouts start around 5:30 am, and some days I just don't want to (or feel like I can't) get up. I need to try harder to be more flexible and willing to workout after work. I'm running on my TM, or at a loop with some people, but never anyone I know.

Ok, that's my excuse for the exercise I've been doing. My excuse for not expanding my repertoire and trying new things by going to a gym is 1) I don't want people to see me, 2) I don't know what I'm doing, and the Biggie -- 3) I don't want to feel worse about myself because I will compare myself to everyone else I see and find myself deficient.

I keep flirting with the idea, and then I find reasons not to do it...

Healthy Habits Week 2: Spaceship Earth

I don’t remember when I actually believed that there is a ride inside the giant silver ball in Epcot, but it’s a good thing I did because I can’t get enough of this attraction! I love the new additions and seeing “my future.” This week, our Healthy Habits focus on “your future.”

This week’s 4 Habits are:

1. It may seem unbelievable when you have to drink 64 oz. of it, but our “ancestors” drank water too. To help you with “your future, your “habit” is to drink a total of 64 oz. of water during the day. You can count up to 8 oz. of tea or coffee toward your total for the day.

2. Our “ancestors” were really big into record-keeping according to the narrator of Spaceship Earth. Recording what one eats and portion control are huge in weight loss and valuable habits to have. Again, this week, write down everything you eat as well as the portion size. (Example: ½ cup of plain uncooked oatmeal, cooked in ½ cup of nonfat milk, with 1 tablespoon of walnuts and 1 teaspoon of brown sugar)

3. As you journey through time, you will need strength and energy. I’ve found that the more I exercise, the more energy I have. This week, your “habit” is to exercise for a total of 20 minutes each day.

The above 3 Habits are the same as last week because you need time for something to become a habit, according to the research.
4. In “your future” you will need your teeth. Dental health is also very important. Floss your teeth daily.

Mini-Challenges

1. “Your Future:” Last we, we “recorded” our goals for the challenge. This week, ”record” up to 3 changes you hope to see in yourself at the end of the challenge.

2. The Libraries of the Middle East: Information about weight loss, eating healthy, fitness, etc. is available almost everyone. Spend some time reading information related to the goals you wrote last week.

Note: This week is from Friday, 1/6 to Thursday, 1/12 so the total possible points one can earn is now 30.

I'll definitely check into this!

I got through a good chunk of my to-do list today. We had a healthy-ish dinner of pork chops, green beans, boxed mashed potatoes, and I had a peach-mango applesauce for dessert. I was planning to Wii after dinner, but while Mom was cooking I went downstairs to work on the laundry and fell down the stairs. :headache: I hurt my back, my knees, and my arm, so now I'm sitting here with ice packs.:sad2:

Oh geezxe

Its that kind of a day isn't it:confused3

I was at work this afternoon and dropped 6 gallons of water from 20-30ft up in the air:lmao: Fortunately, they didn't land on anything except for the bottom of the WAVE and the concrete floor. Imagine my surprise when 2 out of 6 gallons survived intact:rolleyes1 i am off tomorrow, but i get to go back in on Saturday and finish destroying the store. And lately every time I look ro wash my hands at work I have a new cut:headache: I need a vacation and I just had 1:rotfl2:

I hope you feel better tomorrow.

QOTD: I suppose the "I'm too tired. might fit me, but its more like Haven't I exercised enough between walking all over the store for 8hrs. and pulling stuff of shelves in the back room, go get this for a guest and then come home and walk the dog:rotfl2:

So yeah, I'm tired, but its not like I've been sitting on my but all day:lmao:

I really would like to get into a post work routine again besides walking the dog. I can't complain because walking Onslow and doing housework has helped me keep off what I've lost already, but a good video has always helped clear my mind and relaxed me in a different way than dog walking.

I expect to be able to do a workout tomorrow as my cold is moving along quickly and seems to be mostly out of here. We shall see in the morning.

Gretchen: I hope you feel better tomorrow

Okay well we ran to Wally World to get a new set of sheets for the bed. I picked up an 18 pack of Dr Pepper (haven't had one in months), a box of Prevacid, and a few other things. I'll do the grocery shopping sometime this weekend.

I logged the pizza and Dr Pepper in my Sparkpeople and surprisingly was not only still in my calorie range but was even able to eat 2 small Hershey nuggets for dessert. My water is consumed for the night. I'm still nursing the Dr Pepper. Its funny after months of not drinking the stuff now it just tastes like pure sugar, hence why its not gone yet .

I did my 30 minute BL on Kinect and finished walking around to get the mile on my pedometer. Today has definately been crazy emotionally but the exercise is helping. Here's to hoping for a better day tomorrow emotionally.

I didn't have time to catch up on all the new posts but thought I'd say hi anyway. I've been really good this week while at work and then it's all downhill once I get home. And then this morning I did a number on my left ring finger and it's all bruised and in a splint for a few days...

I'm going to go take a hot bubble bath and then go to bed and I hope my WI tomorrow has a good number to it or at least a loss of some sort. Have a good night :thumbsup2

QOTD: I can' breathe. I have recurring sinus infections that lead to bronchitis. This basically gives me a cough that just does not go away. I have been told it's asthma or it's bronchitis. I can' never seem to get a straight answer. For awhile I was doing Tae Kwon Do. I really want to get back to it, but have been coughing since November. Every time it goes away I get sick again and back it comes. I see an ENT next week so I am hoping for some answers.

Today I tried something new. We have a rock climbing gym near us. I thought that would be a good exercise solution since it is more about strength and you're not keeing up a sustained aerobic effort. I really enjoyed it and it seemed to work well because between climbing and belaying, I had time to catch my breath. I might go back again sometime int he next week or so.

For those who have food intolerances and allergies, what is it like when you have a reaction? I had some mango with chocolate syrup last night for dessert and not long after had some pretty bad stomach cramps, my cough also seemed worse. I didnt' think much of it since I have IBS. I had the other half for snack today and noticed that I felt kind of itchy afterwards. But I don't know if it was psychosomatic. You know, you feel an itch, and then wonder, and then keep itching. I've eaten it before with no problems. So I'm just curious if it could have been a food reaction or just coincidence.

Hello, my name is Michelle and I have been off and on the WISH boards and the Biggest Losers Challenges for awhile now. I hope this time I will keep at it and really work towards my goal.
A little about me: I am a stay at home mom of 4 daughters ages 10, 8, 2, and 9 months. My husband works out of town for months at a time, so often its kinda like being a single Mom and all the children and home responsibilities fall to me. Luckily when Dh is home he is a HUGE help and gives us all every bit of his attention. He will be leaving for a few months next week and we will be very sad to see him go.

:sad1:Some of you may have seen my posts from awhile ago on the Family board, but on October 31st, my Mom very unexpectedly passed away. It was very shocking as she was the healthiest person I knew and she worked so hard on improving herself all the time. 3 weeks after Mom passed my Gram passed, and she was like a Mom to me. I have had a hard time with it all and DH has been able to be here since then to help me with coping, but its been a struggle. Now I find myself having anxiety about leaving the house and since he is leaving I will have no choice, but its scaring me a bit. My mom passed from her heart not beating correctly and no oxygen getting to her brain, not from an accident, so I am not sure where my fear of leaving the house is coming from, but this is one of my goals to try and work on.

I know since losing Mom I have probably gained 25 pounds. I am really going to work hard and show my girls when you have a goal you can reach it with hard work. 2011 was a heck of a year, and with the exception of the birth of my beautiful baby Loralei princess:, pretty much crap. I am determined to make 2012 better!

(we are about 40 posts behind the Donald's and I am bored today so please excuse the excessive posting--it keeps me from eating!)

I finally tried putting sf jello powder in plain Greek yogurt. I added some Sugar Free Strawberry Jello powder to Fage 0%. At first I added just a tiny bit as the instructions I had read about suggested, mixed and tasted and :crazy2: :rotfl2: But I added a little more and a little more and it turned out not so bad-- a beautiful pink color! So maybe the part about "just a tiny big" needs to be revised!

I am trying to get over the texture. I looks like sour cream so it just seems weird. But I think it will be a good snack. It won't ever be something that I am craving or have just because I feel like it, but to help meet my weight loss goals I think I can handle it. I have some raspberry jello I will try next week.

Wonder how it work if I mixed it and then froze it?

Also, I meant to post this the other day:

I was watching a cooking show and got an idea to try with my salads. They put the dressing in a large bowl, put in the salad in on top and then toss it all together. So I tried it the other day and it worked perfectly! I was using a non creamy Greek dressing and measured out 2 T exactly, threw in my lettuce and all the toppings (except cheese and croutons, I like those on top of the dressing) and tossed/mixed until it was all coated. I am sure I used a lot less dressing than if I had poured it on top. Going to try it with Ranch next time, not sure if it will work as well with a thicker dressing.

Thanks for the tip about the ff jello. I liked your story about the daughter and the cat too lol..:rotfl:

Well was down another pound today and Wally's brother weighs 17 pounds...:scared1: He's the black and white in the left hand picture and his brother is the long haired tabby sitting up. so decided to reward myself with watching Valentines day on HBO. it was good ;-)

And Lisa-- all kitty's are doing ok except Cleo the kitty on the right in the pictures grooming herself disappeared 5-6 months ago...just vanished -pretty weird. I think she found greener pastures myself as she didn't get a long with any of the other cats and hated her kittens lol. she was one of the ones we still let outside since we cat proofed our back yard. Well--we are sort of a low security cat prison, some can break out fairly easily through routes that involve the roof etc. They still have a lot of space and we are really happy knowing most of them are safe most of the time. My latest are 2 gorgeous grey/silver girls-- one long and one short hair. Celina and Daphne. They were both bottle fed rescues and I was kind of desperate at the time battling depression. They really had a lot to do with saving me. Well-- that and the prozac--heavenly stuff. And the relentless patience of someone I care a lot about....:confused3

I will post pictures as soon as i either A: figure out what's wrong with my camera (probably needs charged) or B: figure out how to get the pictures off the fancy new contraption I have called an Iphone.

Hi friends

I'm your coach this week but it's 2:15am and I'm up feeding the baby. I'm not my usual witty, charming, and intelligent self and I only have one hand to type with so I will be back later with a more coach-y post.

:thumbsup2

Hi Everybody

QOTD - not enough time.

I have managed to be better this week though and have done some exercise every day even if not as much as I would like to.

To my horror I have just put tonights planned dinner in to the on line calorie tracker I am using and with just a very small lunch I am 300 calories over

Tommorrow is DH's birthday and I know I will be going over and that is planned but it means I really do have to be good today. Methinks I may be rethinking dinner although it is one of DS's favourites and he asked for it before he goes back to university next week (he will be away until Easter). :confused3

For the first time this week it is sunny here instead of raining (England) and hopefully I will get out for a walk later.

I remember those days but now it is more likely DS coming in at 2am from a night out that wakes me!!

Michelle-:grouphug:

Happy to say I lost 2.8 this week. Of course it could be more but I've not been so good the last two days but no weight change in the last two days! It will be hard this weekend with my brother visiting but if I can maintain I will be happy about that.

Time to get Ash's breakfast. Today is dress up so she looks all snazzy in a skirt and fancy top, etc. I need to take a photo or two this morning.

I don't have time

All of the above

Occasionally it's "I'm too tired," but "I don't have time" is the usual culprit. "It's too cold" is a seasonal favorite, too, as I am a slooooowww jogger.:rotfl2:

I've exercised every day this week, so it's been a good one. I have a good soreness everyday:thumbsup2

GOOD MORNING LOSERS!!!!!!

wake up! it's friday! it's a brand new day to lose!

i'm nancy and i'll be your coach this week. i'm a mom to two little boys and have almost 30 pounds to lose and it's NOT going well. so my coaching week couldn't come at a better time!

"...35 percent of respondents break their New Year's resolutions
by the end of January and only 23 percent of those surveyed
don't ever break them. Nearly 40 percent of those surveyed
attribute breaking their resolutions to having too many other
things to do, while 33 percent say they are not committed to
the resolutions they set."we're only 6 days into this challenge and i think we all need a check up. the first couple of days are easy...it's the continuing of the healthy lifestyle changes that's the hard part.

QOTD: How are YOU doing with the challenge so far? What's the hardest part? What will keep YOU working hard in this challenge beyond the end of January??

i'll answer first - i'm having a hard time. i've been doing FABULOUSLY with making good decisions, keeping my calorie intake low, journaling, drinking water, and moving more. and this morning i get on the scale and see that i'm UP HALF A POUND! normally i'd throw in the towel and just eat. not seeing the scale go down is the hardest part for me. and usually the first week on a "diet" is when we see the biggest losses on the BL show too..so where's mine? i may be retaining water and it may be because i'm breastfeeding and i have a LOT of milk. who knows.

but what will keep me going? the fact that i MUST succeed. moving more and eating less will EVENTUALLY result in a weight loss and i just need to remind myself of that when i want to reach for an extra piece of pizza. i've lost weight before. i WILL do it again.

setting a weight loss goal that i HAVE to get to will keep me going past january and beyond. signing up for a half marathon will keep me exercising. and having you guys will keep me motivated!

and of course, what nancy coaching week would it be without some great quote provided by my aunt ann (my aunt ann has been a lifetime member on weight watchers for forever. she's gone up and down every once in a while but ALWAYS manages to get back down and often it's due to her tough love style of dieting):
"Now there are more overweight people in America than average-weight people. So overweight people are now average … which means, you have met your New Year's resolution." – Jay Leno

let's all prove jay's snarky comment wrong and lose weight and get to our healthy BMIs!

GO TEAM MICKEY!! ::MickeyMo:mickeyjum:earsboy::earboy2:

Hi, well didn't do well checking in every day this week. No drama, just lack of sleep and too much to do. Hoping to get back into a routine this week after the holidays. I am getting ready to PM my weight and thought I'd check in. Have a great weekend everyone.

Hi! Im new to the thread-just joined:) :thumbsup2 I have been doing ok making better food choices this week, I need to log my calories and start exercising this weekend. I have 30 pounds to lose BEFORE Disney this year(spending a few hours at a water park will motivate me) :cloud9:

QOTD: How are YOU doing with the challenge so far? What's the hardest part? What will keep YOU working hard in this challenge beyond the end of January?

Not great so far. I only exercised once, I haven't been tracking, haven't really been watching what I eat. The hardest part of it right now is that I'm at home and broke. Which means I'm reliant on Mom for groceries and stuff and she doesn't buy too much healthy stuff.

However, in four days I'm going to Florida. I will once again be in charge of my own eating and groceries and I know that will make things easier. And please, I'll be in Disney World-there will be absolutely NO REASON not to get outside and walk: around the apartment complex, at the parks, etc.

I put my breakfast into sparkpeople already, so I feel good about that. I'm going to take a shower, and then write down what I've eaten in my tracking journal as well, and make another Healthy Habits chart for this week that I am COMMITTED to sticking to! I also have to finish up laundry, make my brother a CD for his birthday (he turned 17 yesterday :scared1:), and run some errands: go to the bank to deposit my $45 in rolled coins (), to buy a watch battery and a tape measure, etc. I also need to work on the dreaded packing. :rolleyes1

I probably won't do any "Real" exercise today because I'm still sore from the stairs last night. I have a lovely brush burn on my back and my knee hurts quite a lot-might be going to the doctor to get that checked out.

Good morning Team! Hope e eryone is having a great Friday!
I've done well this week on exercizs and drinking water, also with eating fruit. Had a hard time in the evenings with overeating. Will weigh in tonight.
