Team Mickey - Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Challenge

Thanks LTS! I have an errand to run this morning and may go to the gym, so I will take a good look at the website this afternoon while it is snowing. I am excited that I woke up and am functional and it is not 12 Noon! :rotfl2: Yesterday was not a good morning. I woke up at an okay hour, but felt pretty dizzy. I am not sure why, but I have a hunch it has to do with when I take my meds and when I eat breakfast. Today, I am trying something new. I will take my meds no sooner than half an hour before I plan to eat breakfast. I am hoping that works.

The mom drama has subsided. It is quite peaceful really. I honestly think that part of it is that she knows that I am bored during the day so she comes up with things for me to do. I know she means well, but her ideas are ridiculous. The problem is that if I don't do them, drama ensues. Today's list has 2 things on it and they are both logical. One is to turn off the dryer when the timer goes off and the other is to get my picture taken for my passport. It needs to be renewed. I would like to go to the gym as well, but I need to keep an eye on the weather report. The road the gym is on is not exactly the safest road to be on if it is snowing.

Have a great, OP day Mickeys! :goodvibes

Since the beginning of this challenge I have lost 10lbs. Which is amazing and motivational to me. I went to visit my Dr. two weeks ago and she cut my water pill for my pressure in half, she asked me to return in 4 months.

fantastic!! :banana::banana::banana:

Liz,
I'm heading down to Falls Church VA for a job interview next week

Good luck on your interview! :goodvibes

Well, I did it. I went back to Weight Watchers since Jenny Craig is just not feasible for a vegan. .. I got a bean burrito al fresco at Taco Bell because I saw on a website that was supposed to Vegan and halfway through it I realized there was ground beef in it. Argh!

Oh well, tomorrow is another day.

well i give you a gold star and "A" for effort! and i give you all the kudos and :worship: for making this transition to vegan!

:I have to say that I lasted less than 24 hours on my GF trial! Yep, gave up already. I know I promised myself that I would do this but having this sub job suddenly come up really threw a wrench into it. It sounds silly but I need more time to "prepare"...So many people think that being GF means that you just don't eat bread anymore, but it is so much more than that and gluten is in so many things it really can be difficult to avoid without constant vigilance.

you get a gold star and "A" for effort too!! i totally get your needing to feel more prepared for such a huge change, slowing down the process or putting it on pause is not failure :thumbsup2

My to-do list for tomorrow includes drinking a gallon of water. I can tell I'm retaining water and I need to do something about it. ...have been debating do the 30 Day Shred in March and now I know I will be doing it.

i'm not doing well on the water this week either, :thanks: for the reminder! and i know you will ROCK that 30 day shred!!

WEDNESDAY QOTD -- What is your favorite way to enjoy a nice spring day outside of any outdoor workouts?

it's beginning to look like spring at my house..i have some friends on FB who posted a snow day in their neighborhood today though  anyhow -- looking forward to spring with today our last day of February.....i'm looking forward to planting flowers this year. Last spring i wasn't able to and i missed their beauty all summer long...i'm looking forward to tending to my flowers!

Quickly popping in before heading to my fav thrift store with a friend to help her find something to wear to court next week for her divorce hearing - has drug on over a year & cost her over 12K, her house is in foreclosure, she can't work due to extreme arthritis & COPD & taking care of her mom(90) & her lawyer has not once in a year tried to talk to the other lawyer to settle. Nice!

Then off to the gym. I would love to walk Sashi this morning as the wind isn't blowing- yet - but no time. :sad2: Yesterday we had hurricane force winds in the desert!!:scared1: (Have I mentioned I HATE NM?) For about the next 2 months it will be nasty windy. UGH!

I broke down & ordered the Zumba tapes - should come today. I was getting so down listening to my DSis who can go to classes at her gym - bodyvive, body pump, etc, so decided Zumba I could do.

Hope everyone is having a good 'extra' day! ttfn

:thumbsup2 If you really do some reading on line it is amazing how easy it is to have cross contamination from even the littlest things. Yesterday I was going to go to the cafeteria and get a wrap sandwich without the tortilla (just the meat and veggies) but then I remembered that when they make them they put their gloves on, grab the tortilla then reach in with that gloved hand to get the meat and veggies. Even if I ask them to put on fresh gloves when they make mine, gloves that have touched the gluten containing wrap have been in the container with the other things and that is instant cross contamination. Some people are so sensitive they had to buy all new pots and pans to cook their GF items. Jut remembering to use the right spoon to stir the rice pasta and not forget and stir the regular pasta with it too.

Also, have you looked at your health and beauty products? I know I read that people with great sensitivity have to change their shampoo and I think make up in some cases. I didn't read up too much on that. I know that even things like licking an envelope can cause a reaction because there is gluten in the glue. This is another website I have found really full of helpful information about a lot of the basics and cross contamination http://www.gluten-free-diet-help.com/index.html

I have to say that I lasted less than 24 hours on my GF trial! Yep, gave up already. I know I promised myself that I would do this but having this sub job suddenly come up really threw a wrench into it. It sounds silly but I need more time to "prepare". I need to get to TJ and get some things and have to come up with some breakfast and snack options. So for at least the rest of this week I am just going to stick with my regular eating plan and hopefully try again next week. I just didn't have time to figure out what I will eat for the next few days if I have to eliminate my oatmeal and SB muffins. I have a few quinoa oatmeal type recipes to try so I will try that this weekend.

So many people think that being GF means that you just don't eat bread anymore, but it is so much more than that and gluten is in so many things it really can be difficult to avoid without constant vigilance.

You're so right LTS! A lot of people think being Gluten Free only entails cutting out the obvious white flour stuff: bread and pasta. I had a Girl Scout in my troop do a presentation her GF diet she started for headaches, and she got a lot of relief from the headaches. The changes she had to make to her diet were out of this world... but she did it with the help of her mom. She even brought in some GF cookies and shared with us and they were good!

Good luck no matter what eating plan you are on!

Well, I had a great exercise day yesterday and the day just didn't start out that way. I did a 1 hour personal training session followed by a 1 hour spin class. I was just feeling tired and sluggish to start the day off, but after I worked out I felt a lot better. I am at a standstill on my weight loss. I am down 10 lbs since the beginning of this challenge but I keep going up a pound, down a pound. I am not being totally OP with my eating. I will have a good day, then a bad day, then an ok day. I need to log strictly OP days for a good week in a row and see if that is the magic thing I need to do. The eating OP is by far harder for me than working out. We have a snow day here in Minnesota (who would have thought MN would EVER have a snow day with all the weather we get?) and also my friends birthday party is today. I need to stay ever vigilant on that front. Its kind of a day long affair with lunch, bowling, then drinks/dinner. I will make what I can of it, and make good choices too. At least the places planned are good places with healthier options. I am going to hit the treadmill right after I make breakfast for my sleeping kiddos!!

HAVE A GREAT OP DAY EVERYONE! :)

have a MAGICAL time!!!!

quick note -- you all have been so supportive to me with my health issues, may I share a short video with you...a friend of mine on an online Cushings support group made this short video for awareness as today is Rare Disease Day...my 'numbers' are different from hers, but my story is the same...

http://youtu.be/8qwzokg1Euk

and at the end is a collage of photos...i'm in there :teeth: a couple places but i'm definately the one in the black dress standing beside Pirate Minnie on the Magic ;) I'm in the bottom right too with my daughter, another DCL photo ;) :thanks: for watching!

Hey Mickeys. Great job to our top ten and all our friends still here! Pretty sure my name will not be there this week! I'm doing all right, but definitely room for improvement--says the girl who just ate a chocolate chocolate chip Costco muffin! Don't think my 3 mile walk this morning burned quite that many calories! :rotfl: Should run today but it is windy and off and on snowy and I think I'll stay inside where it's toasty warm. :)

LisaH, you're going to just love this storm! ;)

Tallied up my exercise minutes for the month (love Excel) and didn't make my goal (86%) but am still happy. Ya'll might consider joining March's exercise challenge; they are a lot of fun. I also popped over to mapmywalk to see how the month looked. Lots of fun to see the different colors on the calendar and the different totals they give ya. I covered almost 60 miles!

Tomorrow is WIN so dig out the measuring tape! I'm hoping for big inches gone because my clothes are soooo loose! LOVE IT! :cloud9: Too bad I'm so cheap and don't want to go clothes shopping. Goodwill hasn't had anything the last couple times I've been there. Wish warmer weather would just get here already because I have lots of capris I think would fit.

QOTD: Not really a spring activity--more of a summer one. But I love to lounge on the porch swing with a good book.

Hope everybody has a super hump day! I have the day off so am super excited to have the house to myself. It's the simple joys in life! :lovestruc

Snow has started here in NE MA! Expecting anywhere from 3-10 inches depending on what station you look at.

Have another horrible headache. I think it's the pressure change with this storm coming in plus my sinuses continuing to play havoc. Ash and I did some grocery shopping this morning after cleaning her room. We got Chipotle for lunch per her request. I had a nice big salad. Ash had the kid's taco kit. We took a Burrito to Brian. Got a little over 2 hours until we pick up Izzie. I think I should take a little nap and cover the grill before it gets too snowy out there.

Gotta vacuum Ash's room and put clean sheets on everyone's bed. I did some laundry and should also do another load.

For those of you at MK today, enjoy!

:wave2:

Home from work! Wow, that seems really weird to say. Right now I am actually committed to this job for 3 weeks and they said that it potentially could be 2 months or more. The woman I am filling in for is way more than a secretary, she is the school registrar and darn good at her job. All I can really do is answer the phone and greet people and make some occasional copies. Not sure how they are going to be able to get by without her doing all the other parts of her job. I am willing to learn and do anything they need me to do so hopefully they will give me more to do. I will make a huge dent in the stack of books I have been trying to get to! I am trying to figure out other things to do. I have my ipod touch and could bring my laptop but I really don't want to be seen surfing the internet or playing games. I don't know that they would have a problem with it but it makes me feel like a total slacker. I may take my laptop a few times to work on some Titles and Journaling for some scrapbooks.

I would really love to be able to get a part or full time secretarial job in the district, and this would be great experience but unfortunately we have major budget cuts so that could affect the number of people they hire.

WEDNESDAY QOTD -- What is your favorite way to enjoy a nice spring day outside of any outdoor workouts?
Open the windows! I love it when I can open them all up and get a wonderful breeze of fresh air through the house. I bring the outside in. :)

Have to go figure out my meals for tomorrow. Everyone have a great ON PLAN day!

Heading down to start my 2nd mile of the day on the elliptical. I hope to do a programmed workout so I get changes in intensity! I made some cookies so I need to work them off.

QOTD: I love to hear the birds sing! Can't wait to start walking outside again but it is snowing here and we are expecting 6-10 inches between now and tomorrow night. Hoping to go snow tubing tomorrow night. We have a Groupon that we haven't been able to use. The park is like 2 miles away from our house so it won't be an issue getting to it!

Does anyone else use a BodyBugg? I was just wondering how you like it, and how you use it. I have one, and just reactivated it. I have in there from before a targeted burn of 2,600 calories a day but I honestly dont remember how/why its that number. I think it will be a lot of work to enter all my food into this and WW, but I am going to try it.

Pamper Week, Wed., 2/29: Today is Leap Day. Do something active and fun, like leaping.

LOL This made me giggle a bit.

The road the gym is on is not exactly the safest road to be on if it is snowing.

I'm now so used to the 90 degree and sunny February weather that I forgot it's still snowing in other parts of the country. :rolleyes1

WEDNESDAY QOTD -- What is your favorite way to enjoy a nice spring day outside of any outdoor workouts?

You can bet that when the Flower & Garden Festival starts in one week, I'll be spending a lot of time there-no better way to celebrate spring!

I had one and liked it. I have a bodymedia band now that I got through Jenny Craig (and my FSA paid for it since it was part of the weight loss program!) I like this one better because of the layout of the website and I love that it tells me how long I sleep vs. lying down. I've had soem fatigue issues and have had a sleep test done that didn't really turn up anything conclusive. So being able to see how much I'm actually sleeping is nice. The BodyBugg's main advantage was the meal plans although I used those as an idea since I didn't like what they had for many of the meals. But it was nice to have that for ideas.

LOL This made me giggle a bit.

Flower and Garden is beautiful. I definitely miss being there and am glad you are enjoying your program. I see your facebook updates.

I did my first work out with my trainer today, I'll be luckly to be able to walk tomorrow. Last two days... only sort of on plan. I didn't do enough planning (and left my dinner at home yesterday). I have my whole day planned out for tomorrow and packed and ready to go. I have class on T/Th so I don't get home till 8 or 9pm. I'm trying to plan my day to exactly meet my target so I have some wiggle room. Here is my day for tomorrow. I would love any feedback from people who have done vegan or vegetarian.

Breakfast: Steel Cut Oats with 2tbsp PB2, 1 tbsp Raspberry preserves, and 2 tbsp flax seed

Lunch: WW Tuscan Herb Cous Cous with salad made with mixed veggie greens, sun dried tomatoes, dulce flakes, and Kraft Light Asian Sesame Dressing

Dinner: Miso Soup and granola with blueberries and flax seed (from Back to nature)

Snacks: Hummus with carrots and celery. Bible Bread. Peach and Banana. 1 c. soy milk.

Total Pts: 26

Snow Day here! I need to call my client in about an hour and reschedule him. It had stopped for awhile and now it's coming down pretty hard. Plow guy just came through again. And it's supposed to be in the 50s with rain on Saturday! Go figure!

Woke up a little after 5 with a horrible headache! Gotta call and reschedule the girls dermatology appt for this afternoon. Hoping to go tubing tonight. Should be great weather for that!

Ash is up but Izzie must've gone back to sleep! She was excited when I said there was no school.

we've all worked hard this week :cheer2: and are on the homestretch to the W/I tomorrow....so let's let our minds slip into thoughts of indulgence..

THURSDAY QOTD -- What is your biggest guilty pleasure food item at WDW?

WOW!! We got out early yesterday but no delays or cancelations here. Lucky you!!! I wanted a day off!
But on the other hand I am thoroughly enjoying the silence in my house today. No kids, no hubby. :woohoo:

THURSDAY QOTD -- What is your biggest guilty pleasure food item at WDW?

the brownies at Cosmic Rays. They are awesome! And I haven't found them anywhere else. No on tell me if there are more though!!!! I don't want to know!! This way I can limit myself to the 2 times a trip we visit MK.

Good morning TEAM MICKEY!

A big BL thank you to Molli for coaching us this week! :flower3:

Please be sure to let us know when your surgery is so we can send you lots of good thoughts and pixiedust: That was a very interesting YouTube. It's so sad that it takes so long for someone to convince their doctor that they really are sick and it's not in their head. :sad2:

The Princess 2011 - OMG, I can't believe it was already a year ago. I can't wait to go back... Jen is already planning the Goofy for 2014 ---!! "Goofy", is right. "Completely out of her ever loving mind" might be a better name for that medal!!

Well, we are still Princesses in our hearts. princess: Wow if you guys do Goofy that would be great. :worship: That is a long, long way. Pretty much every time I do a half one of the ways I get myself to finish is by telling myself I never have to do it again. :rotfl: That's when I realize it is very helpful to already be registered before you do your half. :rolleyes1 I loved that onemoremile shirt -- I'm getting one for myself and my sister. I really do hate running a lot of the time, except when I'm done. :rotfl:

I also got completely spooked reading IT and other King novels (granted, probably at too young an age!). But 11/22/63 is very different - it's not horror, but it's a fascinating history what-if with some supernatural time travel stuff and how going back to change things can have crazy consequences. It's definitely not horror, though, and I'd recommend it even to people who've been freaked out by King before! :)

Thanks for the book recommendations, Liz! :thumbsup2 I just finished all of the Hunger Games books. I enjoyed them. I'm like Jude, I read soley for pleasure so the more bubble gum for the brain, the better IMHO. ;)

I remember I read Pet Semetary when I was in my 20's and travelling by myself in LA. So not a good idea!

LTS, I'm glad that you are enjoying your job. I think it is a good idea to hold off on the GF for now because it is very intensive and that would be hard for you right now -- need to do that when you can set yourself up for success. :flower3:

Hi Julie! :wave2: Nice to see you! :flower3:

LisaH, you're going to just love this storm! ;)

Thanks, Linda! :lmao: It's not too bad but the high pollen alert is really not too fun with the snow. And some people are disappointed that they haven't had any snow days this year. ;)

Do they have any info on the website about selecting numbers, Melinda? I think I would compare what they say with myfitnesspal or maybe the old BMR calculator figures. If that 2600 is net, i.e. you end up burning 2600 more than you eat, that's 5.2 pounds a week loss -- that seems like a lot. If you used it before you should be fine but Julie had a very bad reaction to the BodyBugg as I recall.

THURSDAY QOTD -- What is your biggest guilty pleasure food item at WDW?

Do you like Pina Colavas and getting caught in the rain? :beach:

Have a great day all and good luck with those weigh ins tomorrow! :flower3:

Pamper Week, Thursday, 3/1: Set a realistic goal for yourself for the month of March.

I have 2 of them.
1: Lose 5 pounds.
2: Sleep better. This 10 AM wak up and still not feeling functional has to go.

I am hoping losing weight, which will require more exercise, will help with my sleep.

Snow day here. I think the district could have gotten away with a 2 hour delay, but I'll take the day off! Because of the cancellation I was able to walk with my partner this morning. We were discussing how stupid we were because it was very icy. By the end of the 3 miles the sun was high enough that a lot of the ice had melted. I think next time we'll just go to the mall!

QOTD: No real favorites. We discovered the cupcakes at HS last trip. Those giants were delicious. Also had a brownie sundae at Mrs. Potts Cupboard in MK. I think it tasted so good because we were hot! When we stayed at Dolphin we visited Beaches N Cream A LOT!

Did my WIN and lost inches but not where I thought I would. Bodies are so weird.

Hope everybody has a good weigh in tomorrow!

Went back to bed and slept off and on for 3 hours. Headache is still lingering but not as bad. Brian just came in from snowblowing and shoveling. Still snowing. Roads are just wet right now. Still planning on going over to the tubing park later this afternoon. Girls just hung out playing games and watching tv while Brian and I slept.

I hope to plan some meals for the the weekend and next week tonight.

Need a little something else to eat and then I think I'll shower!
