We had terrible news yesterday. Just terrible. I know that I have shared with you the terrible battle our friends are going through. Emilie was diagnosed with a rare sarcoma while pregnant, surgery was done, she and the baby survived, after delivery she had a full CT scan to reveal the cancer had spread to her lungs, liver and hip. Their baby is now 9 months, their other son is just 2.5. Emilie keeps an amazing Blog, which has been an honest account of her strength and weakness as she battles this awful fight. I have posted the blog a few times along her journey. If you are interested in reading her last entries, you can find her at: lemmondrops . blogspot . com (take spaces out)

:hug: I'm so sorry, Jen. :hug:

We're off to do some shopping for DH, then guitar lesson for #1 and hopefully a peaceful afternoon. I don't know about your houses, but my children start to act crazier the closer we get to Christmas. It's as if they are trying to make me regret all the money I just spent on their gifts. :headache:

I'll check back later...:hug: :hug: to all in need.
I agree. The kids are really pushing it lately. :sad2:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Baylie and I are going to have breakfast with my girlfriend and her daughter (B's BFF) this morning. It'll be nice. Then we're coming back here to do a few projects and hopefully relax a little. :thumbsup2
What's everyone else up to the last Saturday before Christmas? popcorn::
Kat- I will be thinking of you today when I make my cookies. :hug: :hug:
Oh my. I have been lost in Emilie's blog for over an hour. What an exquisite writer she is. The pictures of her boys are so beautiful. I will pray for that sweet family. Big:hug: to you Jen. I can't thank you enough for sharing Lemondrops with us.
Thanks for the suggestions for my aunt. If I had more time the digital frame would have been a perfect idea. For now, I'm looking at what they have a Figis...thanks Kat.
Try edible arrangements . com (no spaces). They have some really nice things too!:thumbsup2
::yes:: And he had his CHristmas party in school yesterday, which made him even more hyped. I don't know why the teacher didn't wait until Tuesday. Those kids are going to be off the wall Monday and Tuesday!:eek:
Well, I think DD4 is definitely on the mend
Oh Good!:goodvibes
I just straightend my entire first floor (kitchen, dining room, living room and 1/2 bathroom). Jim left to take his sister shopping and Jimmy and I were going to get started on the Gingerbread train. However, when we opened it...it was already decorated:confused3 I was :mad: and Jimmy was sad becasue he was looking forward to doing it. I called Jim and told him to pick up a gingerbread house kit on his way home.
After he and his sister are done shopping they will come back here and I will help her wrap her gifts and then we will bake cookies.
I think we are going to do takeout from Applebee's for dinner!:thumbsup2
Wanna come to my house Janet?? My first floor needs some major straightening.
Also, how weird is that with the Gingerbread train? Why would it come decorated already? Isn't that the point? Very strange.
I need to get some wrapping done tonight too. Since DH is working the overnight shift, maybe I'll wrap gifts while watching the Cowgirls get beat up by the Ravens tonight on NFL Network. That sounds like my kind of night. Gotta get those Eagles in the playoffs, right? :banana:
THat was my thought!
Anybody that beats up the cowgirls is kay in my book!:thumbsup2 I think the Eagles are gonna get smoked by the Redskins though:sad2:
Have you gotten your SS gift? My Ornament just arrived yesterday. I will up load my pictures. I love it all!
Yes....I did get an Ornament and I love it :lovestruc I have just not taken a picture to post yet.
I forget who said it... maybe Jo... that when doing a TR posting the pics are easy it's the writing that hard... I am just the opposite.. that's the reason I never finished my TR from June/July.. uploading pictures is just a hassle to me. I have the TR written.. just wanted pictures to go with it.. and also needed to upload some video.. but my video camera is not working well and ... well :headache: :headache:
I was in a hurry to pick up my four year old before the 7 year old got home from school. Unfortunately, I had to pass said school on the way. Limit was 25 and I don't really know how fast I was going (probably 32ish). Cop saw me tap my brakes so he pulled me over. Luckily for me, he didn't have his radar going, so he couldn't prove anything! :banana:
Jodi... YOU ARE GONNA CATCH IT... didn't you get a warning there a few weeks ago
I just read and got lost in several of her Blogs.
My heart aches for her family and the anguish she must be feeling as she leaves her family behind to grieve for her.
There is still hope for a miracle... she is still here.. but I admit it looks like the decision has been made
:hug: I'm so sorry, Jen. :hug:
Housework and housework :mad:
We will probably go to "Outback" for the Family Anniversary dinner.
Oh Jen, that's terrible. :sad1: I've been reading Emilie blog since you first posted. I haven't read it in a few months.
My heart just aches for her and her beautiful family. ANd a :hug: for you too, sweetie!
Ok, you should see me when I make a turkey. :laughing: Bob cracks up because I'm so freaky about the "raw poultry germs." I get the bird all done, then I wash my hands (HOT water) then I scrub every surface that MIGHT have come in contact. Then I bleach the sinks out and then all the washcloths and dishtowels get replaced. I have a serious aversion to "icky" myself!!!
:lmao: Twin! I do the same thing!
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I think I'm a brown girl in a REALLY white girl's body. I love Mexican food. I can't cook it, but I love to eat it!
:rotfl2: I'll teach you to be white if you teach me to be brown.
We've been so lazy this morning, the girls and I spent ages cuddled up in bed just chatting, they spoilt it though when I had my shower and they kept argueing
:lmao: We did the same thing. Evan, Maddie and I cuddled in Maddie's bed and chatted, until the name calling started. Brats! :rolleyes:
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
Got nothing planned today. I have a few gift cards to buy, but I'm staying away from the stores until Monday.
No flames, but Andy brought me a copy of the movie, Twilight so I'll watch that this afternoon. pirate: Then my SIL is coming over to help make tamales. Blech. :scared: To the tamales, not my SIL. ;)
Gotta make some breakfast, now. I'll check back later. :flower3:
Long story short.
My doggy aspirated in the middle of the night and she now has pneumonia.
Lots of money.
:faint:
I'm so exhausted that we're not leaving for Albuquerque today. We'll leave tomorrow instead.
Gives me a chance to get my house cleaned and such before my trip...that way when I get back home things will be clean and ready for all of my fam.
Yea nothing on the streets and most sidewalks have been cleared off! You can hardly tell it snowed at all!
Well, huh. Showoff! :snooty: :rotfl2:
OK FOCKER POLL: Name your top 5 Disney Movies!!
Beauty and the Beast
Parent Trap (both, but I like the new one a little better)
Fantasia
Lion King
Enchanted
they are due over at 6 ish so I prob won't be on until Sunday but I assure you there will be pictures!
So everyone have a great night and a great Saturday! :grouphug:
Have fun!
Well the weather here is impossible, it has been snowing heavily all day and on top of that it is really windy so shoveling has been pretty much impossible because as soon as you clear the driveway the wind blows everything back. :headache:
I'm sorry.
i'm done in 30 minutes, then i'm going to sleep. have a great saturday everyone! only 4 more days until christmas!! :banana: :santa:
Oh, Jen, I'm so sorry.
The boys have music lessons at 11/11:30 today. I have to bring them (the roads STILL aren't plowed!!!) because Bob needs to do shopping for me and the boys! Argh. I still haven't gotten him or the boys anything to unwrap. I'm stressing now! I have to get out tomorrow for sure or I'll never get anything done.
Ugh, I'm sorry. I don't know if it's budget issues or what, but ours aren't near as clear as I expected.
We've been so lazy this morning, the girls and I spent ages cuddled up in bed just chatting, they spoilt it though when I had my shower and they kept argueing :headache: They've been out and delivered some cards for me and we're just chilling :cloud9:
Nice! (Except the arguing.)
I don't know about your houses, but my children start to act crazier the closer we get to Christmas. It's as if they are trying to make me regret all the money I just spent on their gifts. :headache:
::yes:: We just had a meltdown, with Woody bawling, "Santa won't bring me gifts because I'm being bad."
Well, at least he acknowledged it. :rotfl:
I did reassure him, I'm not that mean.
There's still no change in her condition. Still in a collar staring at the ceiling. Doctors told my FIL yesterday that they hope she'll be home for Christmas! :eek: That's almost a week away!
Yikes, but I do hope it happens.
Baylie and I are going to have breakfast with my girlfriend and her daughter (B's BFF) this morning. It'll be nice. Then we're coming back here to do a few projects and hopefully relax a little. :thumbsup2
Yikes, honey! Take it easy today.
************************************************
Kids did fine - I got up and spent the hour doing the driveway in the SNOW - it was supposed to end last night, but it's STILL coming down. No problems getting to the house, though, and the kids were apparently fantastic, well-behaved, all that stuff they do for other people, but not me... ;)
We went out to the store, then, but the roads really aren't near as clear as I expected - the famous New England plows are not cutting it today.
Now we're supposed to get 6-12 inches MORE of heavy, wet, snow tomorrow, which, the warning says "may cause additional power outages." AAAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!
We'll see.
D is not supposed to land until 11:00 tonight, but he should be home for tomorrow, at least.
Gah.
The boys still have their basketball practice this afternoon.
I wanted to get the rest of the school party stuff in case I can't move tomorrow and they do have school on Monday. I want school on Monday, so it's fine, but I need to be ready.
OK, off to eat lunch. The ropa vieja, leftover - turned out GREAT!
I am making sausage roll stoday! Jo knows what they are !!!:)
How did they turn out? I'm afraid I just buy frozen ones :rotfl2:
She lost her husband a few years ago and has no children and I just heard last week that she's refusing to eat much. She's pretty depressed so I thought a gift basket of homemade things from my girls might help.
I hope it works, you're so kind :goodvibes
Jimmy and I were going to get started on the Gingerbread train. However, when we opened it...it was already decorated:confused3 I was :mad:
How strange, hope you had fun with the house though!
:lmao: We did the same thing. Evan, Maddie and I cuddled in Maddie's bed and chatted, until the name calling started. Brats! :rolleyes:
Why do they spoil such a nice time :confused3
Really nothing to say here, we're going out for lunch with some friends tomorrow which will be nice but that's it, just pottered around today, wow I'm boring :rotfl2:
the kids were apparently fantastic, well-behaved, all that stuff they do for other people, but not me... ;)
Mine are the same but better that way round than the other!!!!
Now we're supposed to get 6-12 inches MORE of heavy, wet, snow tomorrow, which, the warning says "may cause additional power outages." AAAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!
I hope you don't lose power again CE, does the generator power most things though?
Jodi... YOU ARE GONNA CATCH IT... didn't you get a warning there a few weeks ago
That was the time I was talking about. I didn't get pulled over again. This was the one and only time I've ever been pulled over!
~~~~~~~
Okay, I must be channeling Janet because I've now gotten my 1/2 bath cleaned, my floors swept (but not mopped yet) and my kitchen cleaned. I must also be channeling a little bit of Mel because now I'm baking cookies too! I won't mention that they're from premade cookie dough I bought from DD7's school though. :rolleyes1

Gotta convince DH to go get us something for lunch soon though. I'm getting hungry and the cookies are smelling good. :confused3

Mine are the same but better that way round than the other!!!!

I know - I am pleased, really! :)

I hope you don't lose power again CE, does the generator power most things though?

Yes, it does - if the cable doesn't go out, we're fully functional with the internet and the whole bit. :thumbsup2 It's just that it makes everything a little harder. And it's hard to cook - I can use maybe one burner on the stove, no oven, the microwave will work, but it's very low-powered and kind of funny. ;)

I can NOT believe it's still snowing. :) I'll take some more pictures, maybe. My house looks nice in the snow, I will say. :goodvibes

Hi ladies, guess who is done with school until the second week of January?

Hi! :wave: and :woohoo: on no school.
:eek: :scared: about neighbor lady & dog

I've never seen it - let me know if it's good.

It's so fun and cute! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

T-We do our Christmas dinner on Christmas eve-we're having Coq au vin and four-cheese gnocci for the vegetarians (me! :)) and a scallop dish.

Mmmmmmm Gnocchi!!

Hedy is your ticker correct?? If it is, Have fun in Vegas!! :cool1:

Hi everyone. Looks like I have some reading to catch up on. Hope everyone is wallowing in some potent Holiday cheer.

Hi Mrs. K! :wave2:

Ok excuse the white girl married to the hispanic...is a tamale the same thing as pasteles????

::yes:: pretty much. Tamales are in a corn husk and pasteles in the plantain leaf.
My mom is making Pasteles and coquito (coconut-rum drink thing) :thumbsup2

Well the weather here is impossible, it has been snowing heavily all day and on top of that it is really windy so shoveling has been pretty much impossible because as soon as you clear the driveway the wind blows everything back.

Despite the crazy weather I went out to see Yes Man tonight, hilarious movie, I was laughing the whole way through. Gotta love Jim Carrey and not just because he is Canadian.

Sorry about the weather. Ooooh good to hear the movie was good!

jsut a drive by!! all caught up .........

Hi Rachel!
I sent my cards out yesterday! :upsidedow
:yay: on work almost being done!

We had terrible news yesterday.

Oh Jen :hug: that is so sad.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So went to my work "party" and it sucked. I don't know why, but they had 2 parties. One from 12-2p and the other from 6p-8p. Why they couldn't just do one long one is beyond me :confused3. I was gonna go to the earlier one, but was too busy so ended up going to the later one and when I got there nothing was set up. So my mom (who works at the hospital too in the same department) and I got there and the managers looked grumpy and nothing was ready so we left. And then they wonder why the employees don't give them good reviews. :rolleyes:
So I got home, ate something and got ready to go to my friend's birthday party. We went to some clubs, drank, danced and I got home at 5am :rolleyes1. It was fun, no pics yet since I wasn't the one taking pictures.
Have a good weekend ladies!!! Gonna go back to sleep some more! :cloud9:
I am going to confess something here and please don't through me out of the club, but Top 5 Disney Movies:
I do not have any favorites. I buy some for ds to watch and dd loves Peter Pan. I do not care for any of them. Ds doesn't even watch them much. We love WDW but could do with out the movies.
Well, the birthday party at least sounds like a good time. ;)
D is stuck in LA, possibly 'til Monday. I didn't realize that he was leaving the airplane in LA and taking a commercial flight home. It, of course, is canceled (I would imagine air travel is all screwy at this point, based on the east coast issues...) and I just got an automated call that he's "confirmed" on a flight for Monday morning. He says they are working on something else from their own flight offices, but in the meantime, he's glad that they have him on the Monday flight, just in case.
Sigh.
T, I'll have him call... ;) He likes tamales. :rotfl:
The package to TN for the in-laws still hasn't been delivered. I called, and the post office says that today is the last "normal" day they'd consider - if it doesn't get delivered today, Monday starts the process of finding it. But, that does me no good to my step-MIL, who will somehow blame me for not doing it sooner - they leave for her parents' in FL on Monday.
And it makes me very nervous about the ornament I mailed on Thursday - if I can't count on 2-3 day Priority, it may be late. :sad2:
Just checking in. GOt a card from Rachel today! Thanks Rachel! :goodvibes
THe gingerbread house is done and We are elbow deep in cookie dough! Gingerbreads are done. Sugar Cookies are half done. Then there will be chocolate chip and we are done:thumbsup2
CE - Glad the boys had a good time at the sleep over. Sorry D is stuck in LA for so long!
Katt - OMG, are you watching Jim bake cookies? He eats more dough than goes into the oven:sad2:
