We would be going to Busch Gardens.. but I might like a day of water play.
Well, I can't in good concsience ever recommend the area around BG. The UNiversity is there, too, so there must be some decent hotels, but it's just kind of icky around there. :scared: If you go through Expedia, look for hotels listed as near USF - I suspect those would be better than anything real close to BG.

Downtown is a good central location; 15 minutes from BG, 30 from the beaches. The only hotel downtown I'm personally familiar with is teh Marriott Waterside, which was nice. I've also heard good things about the Wyndham.

Not sure what else you guys have other than the aquarium.
Aquarium is great, also Lowry Park Zoo. On teh Pinellas side, we have 30+ miles of beaches, art museums, and a living history muesum (Heritage Village). If you haven't yet, spend some time here: www.floridasbeach.com LOADS of info. for Pinellas hotels, attractions. :thumbsup2

My cruise starts the 14th if you need to come with us.
That's very enticing! :rotfl:

OMG, that is so funny!!
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I;m so glad I keep everyone entertained:rolleyes:

Hey dudes, 'member me?

::yes::

It's been a crazy weekend. Being cookie Mom SUCKS! Cookie count was off, then it wasn't, then a parent didn't count their cookies before they left and now they're short 2 boxes and I'm not over 2 boxes, so where the heck did the 2 boxes run off to? :faint: Sheesh!

Yikes! Hope it gets straightened out!

An update from "As My Stomach Churns".

Steve and I had a nice afternoon. he had a Eye Drs appt at 4. so I went with him, helped him pick out a sexy pair of glasses. pirate:then he wanted to go for a drink and appetizers. we ended up at a local chineese resturant and sat at the bar. then ordered stuff to bring home. it was really nice! :cloud9:

Sounds like just what you guys needed:thumbsup2

Well all the suspects were called into the office today to get grilled about the stolen money. Of course nobody came forward, they would have to be stupid to admit to it as there is no way that they can prove who did it. No idea what the director is going to do, if he suspends everybody who was working while the wallet was in the office (a period of 24 hours) he would have to suspend half the staff! We are a very small department and he certainly can not afford to do that. Luckily I am not effected by this at all other than losing all trust in my co-workers. :sad2:

In good news I was looking at flights out to British Columbia for the summer and I found one that is a bargain at $560! You are all probably thinking that is not much of a bargain but when plane fare from Toronto to BC usually runs $800 that is a bargain! :lmao:

If you say that's good then :cool1: :cool1: Is this so you can go see your dad?

So, did Janet have school today? That storm looked pretty impressive. As I recall, most of our storms that showed up in March usually were (on the East Coast...)

Yep, everyone is at work and school today!:thumbsup2

Hope everyone has a good Tuesday!:grouphug:

:wave2:

Okay- I'm going to enjoy my breakfast now and check in on my pet, Fluffy. :cutie: [/COLOR]

Check in on mine too. I onoly get there every other day or so, he gets lonely!

First attempt at budget cuts comes Mar. 13 (yes, Friday the 13th - how appropriate), so I'll have some idea what's happening soon.

Here they are scheduled for April 1st:rolleyes:

:goodvibes

May you all have a sunshiney day. :teeth:

I think I'll go for a walk outside now, the summer sun's calling my name

======================================================

Good morning all. Everyone went ack to work and school today. As I mentioned to V above our first line of cuts are scheduled to be announced April 1st. The lastest and most feasible rumor is that starting July 1st they will shut the courts down every other Monday. Basically I would lose one day of pay every 2 weeks. Considering some of the other rumors/possibilities out there I can live with this ::yes::

I do not need to be right on top of Busch to go there. As far as the beaches and the water go... Gulf over the Bay?:confused3 Some Bay beaches and water are good but I have been to a couple that are a bit scary and just YUK

I had been looking at a couple listed as "west shore" A "Quorum" Hotel was recommended to Scott... It looks so so... very convention-y.

Thanks for the "guide" I'll look at it in a bit I am sure.

Thanks V

OMG, what is with these people - Friday teh 13th and April Fool's Day?!?! Hang in there Janet.

Tampa Bay = BAD, trust V. It's completely contaminated and gross. Get thee to the Gulf for some of the world's best beaches! We really have a beach for everyone - quiet and residential on Indian Rocks Beach, fmaily-fun on St. Pete Beach, touristy Clearwater Beach, pristine nature on Honeymoon Island and Caladesi Island... and everything in-between.

I'm pretty sure some folks in our dept. have been to events at that Quorum. Most places in downtown or Westshore are convention-y, to be sure. Honestly, my opinion has always been that the ambience of hoteling at the beaches is worth the drive to anything else you'll want to do. :thumbsup2

Morning, all! I read through, but no time to quote - I need to leave in 5 minutes for my match.

Practice this morning was nice, but we were all rusty, which probably doesn't bode well for this afternoon. :rotfl:

D was going to the office, but has decided to stay here, which is nice. If the match isn't over quickly (last match I played only took an hour because we got beat so badly ;)) he can pick up the boys for their lesson, instead of me schlepping back this way and BACK to the gym for the third time today. We'll see.

Hope all continues to go well today, and I'll check back in much later. :goodvibes

I was thinking the same thing.. Only Government type jobs.. (Local, state.. etc) cold even come up with something like that:sad2:

I was afraid of that.

So IF we make this trip.. looks like a have some decisions to make... ACK... that sounds like P-P-P P L A NN I N G !!!!:scared1: :rotfl2:

Thanks again Tour Guide V:thumbsup2

V and Janet  BTW my former company only did lay offs on Tuesday and Wednesday, some studies has shown it's easier mentally to lose your job on those days, Don't ask why, this what we were told, so no idea if that's true, but that is better then Friday the 13th and April 1st.

Katt - I stayed at the Hampton Inn when I went to BG a couple of years ago. It was clean and had a free breakfast. I have stayed at a few Hampton's with business travel and never had a problem. Not terribly close to BG, but close enough.

Lessa, wow 560 a bargain:eek:

Hi to everyone else, I'm on lunch to got to run...

Just checking in again !! Enjoed the orning off !! But have to goin forafew hours as I hae so much paperwork to do!! Will prolly go in about 4pm and stay till 7 or 8!!

:rotfl2: But here's where this area departs significantly form WDW... you don't have to plan much in advance! No rope drops to make, no ADRs necessary. Just pick a spot, show up and have FUN! :thumbsup2

I've take either of those over a Fri. for sure! Especially when, the last time we had budget cuts announced, it was done at 5:20pm on a Fri. Of course, we were all long-gone and found out in the NEWSPAPER the next day! :scared1:

Hopefully sooner than August... See full blow out below

I know it a BIG SPRAWLING Area... figured some area better than others.
IF we can swing this... it will be Good Friday( April 10) through Tuesday April 12.

Allegiant Air has some 19.00 one way fares  Flying from our local puddle jump airport. And even with all the taxes and what not... We come in around 100.00 per person round trip.

We would be going to Busch Gardens.. but I might like a day of water play.
Not sure if I would make a trip into Orlando at all. Pretty quick trip. Not sure what else you guys have other than the aquarium.

My dad used to live in St. Petersburg. We liked the pier in St. Petersburg.

I just saw they have new updates for rehabs. I was really nervous when I saw that Buzz would be down, but it's this week, not while we're there. Thank goodness! That's our favorite at MK. :wizard:

Thanks V:rotfl2: I have not made a rope drop since our first trip with the kids in 2004 and Dummy Me... did not film that:headache: I hate picking a hotel. Outside of Disney... it's like a crap shoot.

Kind of sounds like a "Dear Jane" letter. You hate hearing your job is on the line from a reporter who got "THE SCOOP" I guess worse it having the people listed WHO ARE LOSING THEIR JOB in the paper.
That actually happened around here. A company had a "Hostile Takeover";) and front page, Bold type... "Company A" taken over by "Company B" and effective As of this morning The Salem Plant will be closing today. Local executive's "Mr's A B C D E" will not be transferred to any of the companies other facilities still remaining open.

They had no clue...:sad2: Kind of mean on the part of the New company. Like reading your own Obituary.

That is just so wrong!:sad2:

I did forget to tell you guys that Marie went out on a date last night. (NO, I did not tell my bro that.) Hey Kat, he's a wrestler. His ring name is PT Hustler. I didn't even know that we had a local circuit. I guess they wrestle on Sundays at one of the local entertainment pubs. I might get to see him this next Sunday.:lmao:

I tried to look him up because the name is familiar, but no luck. If you can find out the fed's name that he wrestles for that would help! Take lots of pics oif you go Sunday!!! I haven't been to a wrestling show in a million years, most of the time it makes me miss it too much and I end up getting all depressed watching my friends still able to wrestle :sad2:

Thanks everyone for all the love, i really appreciate it. :grouphug:

We have about 10 days until I have to send the lease back to the rental company for this apartment. I'm hoping KC can be calm enough now to talk about it more, when I tried yesterday he was still mad about not getting the apt.

The way I see it is, if we have to stay here then we are going to do the best we can here. Previously we didn't bother with much, like worrying about fixing stuff. I want to upgrade everything, like our stuff. We haven't bought anything new in a while and I figure if we do that, then when we find a new place we will have great stuff to take there. Make sense?

We do plan to head to a few apt buildings in the area on KC's days off tho, as a last ditch effort. I'm not really expecting much and frankly if we do find something the scramble tog et out of here will suck.

Anyways ....I'm off to bake a carrot cake for dessert later. And play some animal crossing, of course! :rotfl:

::yes::

Thanks for putting that in my head. :rolleyes1

You are the only one who picked up that!:thumbsup2

You're welcome;)

I hear you now I just can't stay inside all day.........

Sad what we consider good news these days.

Isn't it!:sad2:
