TEAM DONALD--Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge

:wave2: Really quick Hi! Am having a great time but can't get the hotel wireless to work in the scrapping room, or my cell phone so I can't get any desperate calls from home. Darn. ;)

I have been here since 4pm yesterday and I think I have done about 4 pages :rolleyes1 :rotfl: I was doing great at staying on program until lunch today. I walked right past the chocolate cake and other goodies with my grilled chicken and salad then got to the table and my friend started raving about the cake. :headache: The other lady at the table and I looked at each other and she said "I'll get us both one"! Boy was it yuuuuummmmy. Gonna try to be really good tonight so maybe the scale won't notice it. :rolleyes1

The friend that DH and I thought would notice my changes did come up to me this morning, look at me a little funny and said "Are those new glasses? Were you wearing them last night?" See, she does notice changes! I have 2 pair that I change out depending on my mood or which one I grab in the morning. But nothing about any weight loss. I told DH that I am going to now just wear my baggy clothes and sweatshirts for the next few months and not let anything show until about July when I will show up at the pool and it will be obvious!

Back to scrapping. Disney Cruise photos are calling my name!

One treat is good.... but sometimes it is hard to stop with one! Next time, maybe you could share a treat with someone?? But EXCELLENT job trying to hard to stay OP!

Well... it's your decision if you want to stick with the baggy stuff for now. But sometimes people just look "better" and it is hard to pinpoint exactly what looks better... and sometimes people are afraid to insult you by asking if you lost weight. I know I will sometimes just say to someone.... "you look great today!" and it is up to them to let me know if they have lost some weight.

But a big "reveal" by the pool would be neat too!...............P

: A magic Bullet- one of those as seen on tv thingys.
I have wanted one for 2 years now and they were on clearance today for 22.00- hopefully it will last a while and live up to the infomercial
I can make a smoothie and take it with me or I can toss stuff in for homemade salasa or Hummus..

Let me now how the magic bullet is., I had always thought about getting one. Wasnt sure how they would be to clean up

THe Magic Bullet is AMAZING!!!!! Mine is used 2-3 times a day for smoothies and shakes!

Where were they $22? I would love to get another one to have when mine goes. I couldn't live without mine! I may take it with me to girls weekend in 3 weeks!

Well.... I find that I start making excuses on Thursday (both in my head and on here) about WHY the weigh in won't be good. I guess I'm trying to protect myself from disappointment. Then if I have a decent weigh in, I don't usually give myself much credit... and if it is a lousy weigh-in, I usually have an excuse handy. My family CLAIMS they can tell how the weigh-in went just by my mood for the remainder of the day. :rolleyes1 I try hard not to let that be the case, but it is probably true.

I try to always use that feeling (good or bad) to spur me on to try even harder the next week. If the weigh-in was good, I try to use that "good" feeling to encourage me to keep it up! If the weigh-in wasn't so hot, I try to channel that disappoinment into working harder for the next week!

Linda.... sounds like you've got some BIG issues with food and the scale. Have you ever thought of talking to someone about it? It definitely sounds like it could be scary. Glad you found us all here.... hopefully we can be a sounding board for you if things are tough!...................P

Sounds like a great strategy! I will remember that for Monday's weigh in.

I have been in "treatment" for a while. For a long time, I did not admit I had any kind of "eating disorder" - just needed will power and a diet.

It was only when another family member was hospitalized with anorexia that I began to look inside - in reading material designed to help her, I saw myself and it opened up a lot.

But facing the scale is still a necessary part of my recovery, and I still work through it.

And I am trying to focus on health and follow through:thumbsup2

Good for you for managing to stay OP with just one treat.

Enjoy cruising and scrapping (btw I love your computer name)

A good day today folks. OP and did my training.

Enjoying the weekend.

Will "e ya" tomorrow.

I love following the list. You folks are an incredible resource.

Linda

I am sad to say that yesterday i said goodbye to my Enell:sad1: and hello to a new Champion.
:hug:I know how hard that was, I was very close to my enell, and recently found a moving comfort that supports and looks a little more flattering. Good luck with the champion.

Hi Kathy,
Happy Belated Birthday! Sounds like you had a great trip!
Thanks Sue. It was just awesome. I guess that's why I keep going back. Hope you're not working too hard. It felt so nice and warm today!! Can't wait for spring.

We are sort of at the mid way point in the challenge. How are you doing so far?
I'm doing pretty well. I'm down 4 pounds, but some of that was vacation regain, which will be going. I'm still feeling motivated to lose some weight, and work on increasing my speed with the run/walking, and doing some shorter, local races this spring and summer. Emotionally, I'm much stronger and happier than I was last year at this time, and in feeling that way, I know I will be able to succeed at the weight loss again.

So that is what I want to focus on today - the "power" of the scale.

How do you all handle that?

What do you think?
I've played some head games with the scale, but over time have come to realize that if the number on the scale is down even thought I've eaten more than I should, I can't continue to eat out of control without it catching up with me. As well as if I'm on track, and don't see a loss or see a gain, I know it's not real, it's fluid retention, or hormones, and I know that I need to stay with the plan, and not give up and say it doesn't matter. I have never been one of those people who go to ww and say, "I had a gain, I don't know how I did that." But in saying that, I still step on the scale every day. So it doesn't control me, but I do like having the control of knowing where I stand. If it's starting to creep up, it will help me to reel things in.

great question, Linda.

Well, I'm pooped. We had the pinewood derby and I did the snack bar all day but the day ended beautifully and ds got the best in show and a trophy for his car. Last year, his first year, his car came in last every race, and he was so good about it, and acted so proud that he came in last, so I was thrilled this year when his car actually came in first one race, and he got a trophy.

Tomorrow we have a low key day, and I'm planning on keeping it that way.

Hope everyone's having a nice weekend.

Walmart ( I found it when we were up in Daytona )
They also had the george forman grills- not the mini ones but the ones that were a bit bigger for 10.00
Yes I bought that too...

I LOVE -LOVE- LOVE- The Magic Bullet! :cloud9:
Clean up is a breeze-
I made a smoothie with 1/2 banana, light & fit vanilla Yogurt, a small splash of OJ and a handful of blueberries
it was so yummmmm and did I mention I love the magic bullet????

Hi! I'm a (late) loser. I have many half-hearted attempts behind, but my last trip to the doctors gave me a nasty shock.

Yo' peeps are just fine!! Glad to hear you've had a couple of good days in a row! Isn't it such an encouraging feeling??!!

The chicken sounds delicious. And you are right.... DO NOT eat the skin. Do you need to eat any of the pan juices?? Maybe you could just eat the white meat chicken breast and leave it at that??

If you want to make it "as is" in the future, maybe you could substitute Smart Balance butter blend (butter and evoo) instead of straight "real" butter. Still lots of fat, but healthier fats. Is the chicken just basted with the butter/juice or cooked in it or is it just a sauce??

I pour the lemon/butter mix over the chicken in a casserole dish and it cooks in the juice.
I didn't eat the skin, much to my dismay!!! I scaled back the butter to 2 tablespoons and bumped the lemon juice up to like 8 -10 tablespoons (I don't really measure it anymore). I ate the chicken without extra sauce but did use the separator and had a little sauce on my rice. I also ate roasted asparagus instead of corn on the cob (which DS14 tried to steal, LOL).
I got all my water in for the day and didn't snack even after DH bought ice cream.
I think I did pretty well over all.

And I did 2.25 miles on the treadmill. I'm trying to increase my milage for the 5K. Then I need to work on speed.

I accomplished VERY LITTLE during the crop. I sorted a few photos and gave up! I was TOAST by 10:30 pm and signed off. I'll hop over in a bit to see how the evening finished up.

I almost always cook whole chickens in the crockpot these days. I fill the bottom of the crockpot with baby carrots, quartered onions, and potatoes, sprinkle in some rosemary..... put the chicken on top of that and then drizzle in some dry white wine, chicken stock and/or water. Sprinkle the top of the chicken with more rosemary, and set it to cook on low for a full day.

By the end of the day the chicken is moist and delicious and ready to go, along with the veggies.

Leftovers from that meal (including the cooking liquid, minus the fat), gets made into soup (sometimes stew)the next day or so. Depending on the size of the chicken, I get usually get 4 meals for three people out of it. The first two meals are chicken and veggies... the next two meals are chicken soup or stew.

I bailed on the crop too. I was exhausted!! We were all in bed by 10:30 which is pretty unusual for me.

Adding your chicken to my list of recipes!!

I saved the carcass for stock, I need to pick up veggies for that tomorrow. Hopefully I'll actually get it done this time.

So today was a bust meal wise. We got up late so we skipped breakfast (first mistake!!!)
DD chose the Counter for lunch for her Birthday meal, we had cheeseburgers. I should have gotten the veggie burger but I was afraid it would taste horrible. I've never had veggie burgers in restaurants and have no idea if they are any good.
I did avoid the soda because they have Voss water (Like the Norway Pavilion in Epcot) and that's my absolute most favorite bottled water in the world!!
I had maybe 1/2 a cup of parmesan fries and 1/8 cup of onion strings. Honestly the BBQ sauce for the onion strings tasted really sweet to me so I didn't eat nearly as much as I used to.
Dinner we had Ikea, I had meatballs and mac and cheese, and 1/2 a glass of soda, maybe 6 oz?
Blech!! I can really feel it after doing well for 2 days. Tomorrow I plan to do some extra work on the treadmill to combat the bad food from today. I might try kettlebells again and do WATP, twice.

On the up side DH said he's starting to see a difference in my body shape so that's good!

I have to go shopping for DD's birthday gift tomorrow too. Can you believe she's 5 already?!?!? Where does the time go?

OK headed to bed, I have a splitting headache, probably from the soda.

Hi everyone! I have been MIA (again...:rolleyes1) and really need to find a way to reorganize my time. Still a work in progress...
I have given myself a week to relax a little since the Princess. I'm not "off" but I am not being hypervigilant either. I was starting to get a little testy and angry at myself and thought I needed a chance to step back and re-evaluate where I am. Which is not as far as I wanted to be at th's is point but hey, I guess recognizing that is part of the process. Today starts a new movement... (on the plus/minus side, I gained 3 lbs while on vacation but am back down to where I started as of today...)
One thing I would really like to concentrate on is meal planning. I "think" of it on Sundays but then just end up going to the grocery store without a real plan in mind. And with a busy family schedule, we only sit down to eat dinner as a family about 3 - 4 days a week so if I don't have something planned, I don't always get the healthiest meal on the table with just quick thinking. I'd appreciate any recommendations. I'm also going to check the recipe board...
It's been super busy here. The kids missed just one day of school (our return from the princess - NO WAY could I do 13.1 miles and then immediately drive 20 hours home!) and it seems as if it has been nothing but catch up. The timing has been tough too - DD's middle school musical is this weekend (rehearsals til 8PM every night, then homework, etc) and DS has an immense history project due tomorrow - guess what the day will be like here?? I'll be so glad when both are done!

Lisa, I'm sorry I missed saying "Happy Birthday" to you when we saw you. What a great birthday weekend!!!
I skipped my WIN measurements too so now is the time for me to pick it up... loved your and Kathy's comment about "never giving up" - I really needed that right now.:worship:

I am going to look into this!! When were you on Daytona? We were there a few days before the Princess. OMG, the weather was absolute paradise. I called the office on Friday to find out we were getting 16-18" of snow...while I was sitting on the beach getting a tan!!! ..starting to get warm enough to run outside here - it's almost 30 today! :cool1:

Thanks to all the coaches who have volunteered on this thread. I know it's a huge time commitment and all of us appreciate it so much.

...time to get DS up and get moving on his history project. Have a great end of weekend everyone!!

We live a ways south of Daytona. We went up to eat at Applebees before the bikers rolled into town:) it will get up to 85 today but high humidity- and it's going to rain. it is nice BUT it can get hot very fast. very hot!

Hi! I'm a (late) loser. I have many half-hearted attempts behind, but my last trip to the doctors gave me a nasty shock.

Welcome!

I had a day to think about Yesterdays QOTD and I decided I don't like the scale. It's all about how I feel for me right now. How my clothes are fitting, how I feel about getting a waist back :) I get so excited when I step on the scale and thenI get disapointed :(

< finally coming up for air after 3 weeks of 55-60 hr weeks.. Its been hard staying focused and havent gotten the exercise or the food intake I've wanted but havent gained (and lost .5) so can't totally complain..

Trying now to get on focused so when I go "on vacation" to WDW end of the month when my family comes I'll be back on track... Course trying to figure out how to stay on track cheaply is the issue as my main staples now will be hard (or expensive) to have (yogurt and string cheese) when staying at Pop all week...

I've missed you guys-

-em

Hi all... just checking back in after a few weeks that have been very hectic. I stayed OP the first week, but this week I haven't tracked at all. Still posted a small loss so I guess the new WW is settling into my brain and becoming habit. Now back to tracking and being more conscious of my decisions.

I will try to be on here more as well, it is hard to catch up on 2 weeks worth of pages.

Good morning teamies!

Hope you're all enjoying the weekend. I hadn't done any exercise since we got home tuesday, but ds was a little grumpy before CCD this morning, and I was a little impatient, so instead of going grocery shopping while he was at ccd, I took a run/walk instead, and I think it will help both of us much more. I have chicken and vegies to cook tonight, and tomorrow after work we'll go to the grocery store and get a rotissery chicken for dinner, and the rest of the groceries. It felt good to get out again. I wasn't going to do anything today, but since it hadn't started raining yet, and it was 53 degrees, I took that as a sign.

I didn't eat well, or journal yesterday, but am back on track today. I ate pizza, a donut, some sunchips, and chocolate chip cookies at the pinewood derby. Oh, and a bagel with cream cheese for dinner. Pretty high carb day. Oh well, again it's a new day.

:welcome: passporterfan13! This is a great group here, full of support and inspiration.

Enjoy the rest of your sunday!:)

Welcome passporterfan13

Things are going well here although i have hit my first speedbump. Its "that time" lol and thats always amrough few days. Im retaining water and feel like a blimp lol but im sticking with it and doing my journaling

I got a new work out dvd yesterdqy. Its a dancing with the stars one and has one of my favorite contestants from so you think you can dance... Dmitri chaplan. Hottie lol. Lookig forward to trying it out

Had my first meal at a restaurant since starting this and im very pleased. Went to applebees and i got one of the 550 calorie or less meals. I got the dijon chicken. I didnt even eat the potatoes that came with it

Hope your weekend is going well everyone :)

I can imagine it must have been pretty hard to do that reading and see YOURSELF in it. But good for you for acknowledging the problem and seeking help. That is the key!

You should be so proud of DS! And especially proud since he was such a gracious loser last year. DD got her HS swim team sportsmanship award last year and I was SO PROUD! I've told both of my kids..... I am pleased when they get recognized for school/activity accomplishments.... but I'm even MORE pleased when they get recognized for being GOOD PEOPLE! That is SO MUCH MORE important in the long run, dontcha think?? We are raising GOOD PEOPLE! Proud momma moment for you!!

That smoothie sounds so delicious! I tend to NOT have things like that because I don't feel full unless I have eaten something solid.... but that smoothie sounds like a great thing to grab on busy morning!

I do like my GF grill, but I HATE cleaning it. Because of that, I don't use it nearly as much as I could.

Hi! I'm a (late) loser. I have many half-hearted attempts behind, but my last trip to the doctors gave me a nasty shock.

WELCOME! You have joined a FABULOUS group here! Hop right in and join the chit-chat. Ask questions, answer the daily "QOTD", etc. You'll feel right at home soon!

Well... glad I'm not the only one who bailed early on the crop. I felt badly, but I was useless by 10:30. Glad you have been having mostly good days. Sorry that you had a "bump" in the road with your food the other day. HOpefully a bit of extra exercise and some water will have you feeling back to normal.

Happy Birthday to DD! Five seems like YEARS ago for my kids. WHere does the time go indeed!??

Hope the headache is gone.

Sounds like you've been super busy!

We've done some chit-chatting on here before about meal planning and a bunch of us contributed our "systems" for planning meals. Not sure if you are looking for any new ideas, but someone could find those posts for you if you are interested. It DEFINITELY makes life SO MUCH EASIER! I have a HATE of cooking..... combine that with a busy schedule, several food allergies/issues, and the fact that we live 40 minutes from the nearest take-out/fast food/grocery store, and you can see why I need to plan ahead!

Are you looking for a way to plan ahead or just recipes???

Good morning teamies!

Good job using exercise to boost your mood! I did this the other day.... was feeling in a bit of a funk.... and decided to pull out the TM and take a walk (still to yucky here to walk outside.... slush, puddles, snowbanks, etc). After 30 minutes I was so happy with myself for making that decision! It made the whole day better! (It is warm enough to walk outside today, but pouring rain.)

How does your body react to all those carbs? When I eat like that now, I feel like I have lead in my system for DAYS afterwards. It is SO not worth it anymore (well, except for movie popcorn!:rotfl2: )

Welcome passporterfan13

DId your Applebee's have the WW items any more? That has been my "go to" restaurant for about 3 years now and the last time I went they didn't have much in the way of WW stuff.... and I'm hearing now that they don't have ANY WW stuff at some Applebee's. That makes me SO SAD!! I suppose it is nice that they offer the "under 550" meals, but it was nice to have the points figured out ahead of time! Plus, depending on the fat grams and fiber, those 550 calories may be way more points than I am willing to spend.

Next time you can ask for extra green veggie instead of the potatoes. That is what I always did with the WW meals and they were always happy to do it for me.

Happy Sunday everyone! I'm sitting here at my scrapping table, obviously NOT scrapping! I wanted to take a minute to catch up with you all here and that "minute" has turned into 45 minutes!! I've got a photo and an idea here ready to go, so I'm not going to hang around here much longer!

My cold seems better.... just in time to go back to work

DS is sitting here with me trying to complete the homework that he procrastinated on ALL WEEK! DD is off to a Rainbow Girls get-together. DD and I attended early service at church this morning, but I guess the men weren't up for an early start, so they stayed home.

I made our "big" meal at noon today, so tonight's dinner will be light and easy. Getting to be slim-pickins' in the fridge these days. I will have to hit the market either tomorrow or Tuesday, depending on my work schedule. The fruit/veggie bin contains 4 potatoes, 3 beets, a half bag of baby carrots, some limp celery, 3 red bell peppers, about a pound of spinach and a pound of spring mix, and some pineapple spears. I took some meat from the freezer for our meals this week. I'm making an effort to empty the freezer so I can defrost it before summer arrives. And I'm trying to use up some pantry "overages" as well.... hence the reason I haven't shopped much lately.

This afternoon I'm going to make a quick batch of my couscous salad to have in the fridge for the week.... I will use that along with the spinach and spring mix for salads for the next few days.

Okay.... I realize I am just yammering here! You'all don't need to read my "stream of consciousness" thinking here! I'll be back when I have something important to chat about!!:rotfl: ........................P

Is there anybody out there?

You guys are simply amazing. I have never followed the thread so closely as I have the last few days, thanks for being here and for providing input.

Sorry I am so late getting on. I am going to do this in a couple of posts to enhance the chances of not screwing up the quotes :confused3

First of all, congrats on completing the Princess! Definitely on my "wish list" when I get up to that distance.

Good for you for "renewing" - that is part of my strategy too. I have a new schedule that the trainer sends me each week, I put it on the fridge and tick off each workout that I do.

Each Sunday starts with just grocery shopping and planning.

I want to talk a bit more about the latter.

I had a day to think about Yesterdays QOTD and I decided I don't like the scale. It's all about how I feel for me right now. How my clothes are fitting, how I feel about getting a waist back :) I get so excited when I step on the scale and thenI get disapointed :(

I don't like the scale either. My niece stays off it - that is part of her recovery. Unfortunately, getting on it is part of mine. The trainer suggests I stay off it until next Saturday, as I have been doing well all weekend. A bad number can really send me into a tailspin, and I don't need that.

But we need weigh ins here - will probably get on in the morning....

< finally coming up for air after 3 weeks of 55-60 hr weeks.. Its been hard staying focused and havent gotten the exercise or the food intake I've wanted but havent gained (and lost .5) so can't totally complain..

Nope - that is good. When are you taking the trip again?

Hi all... just checking back in after a few weeks that have been very hectic.

Glad to see you back!

!:)

A new day indeed! As Anne of Green Gables says a brand new day with no mistakes in it.

Welcome passporterfan13

Good going! Hate that time of month thing. I laugh when I think about it. We had one lone guy in our WW class once and, to him, that time of the month was when his mortgage payments were due! :rotfl2:

Hi! I'm a (late) loser. I have many half-hearted attempts behind, but my last trip to the doctors gave me a nasty shock.

Welcome, Welcome, Welcome!:cheer2:

This is a fabulous group and you will get a lot of insight, help and support. Glad you found us.

Lets see how I do - onto part two...

Linda
