Taryn and Andy's Honeymoon Extravaganza!! 11/9/-11/15 Trip Report Updated: 3/24/10

Day Three (11/11/09) cont.

"You gots the redhead!!"

Ok, I changed the title from what I originally thought it was going to be because I remembered one of my favorite quotes from our trip....or any trip really. But you must wait for explanation!

For now, I take you back to Splash Mountain, which was our next destination after meeting the Toy Story stars. Now this was a ride Andy was nervous to ride. He may look big and tough, but he does not like heights and has never tried thrill rides before this trip. I thought I was lucky enough that he actually loved Test Track. He had seen so many different videos of the drop and I couldn't convince him that the drop looks steeper than it actually is. However, he is sitting right next to me and he said that he gives Splash Mountain a 10!! :thumbsup2 I love Splash Mountain, so I'm glad he enjoyed it so we can ride it again and again next time. This ride did however do my hair in. The humidity had already caused my hair to curl (I straightened it perfectly every morning) and the water splashed onto my bangs. Luckily, I came prepared with stretchy headbands for just such an emergency! (Yes, my vanity is great )

Ok, so on to Big Thunder Mountain! Andy was not as nervous about this one because I assured him there were no inversions, no steep hills and no drops, and that the track for the most part was not suspended in the air, but a track on the "ground" (aka the mountainy terrain) He said he also gives this one a 10! (He loves trains) I should also mentioned we waited maybe 10 minutes, if not less time in this line and waited like 2 minutes for Splash Mountain. Here are some pics I took in line:

11HoneymoonDay3.jpg

After the ride, we found the designated smoking area that was right around the corner and took some more photos of the scenery.

15HoneymoonDay3.jpg

Ok, so this was taken on the way to Adventureland, but whatever.

So now it was time to meet up with Jack Sparrow and his surly crew. I could barely contain my excitement! This is my favorite ride in the world, tying only with Haunted Mansion. I don't know why...it's just awesome. And Andy loved it!! In fact when we got off, we actually spent time in the gift shop and I forced him to finally buy himself some souvenirs! He got a T-shirt that says "The beatings will continue, until morale improves" and a metal skull magnet that acts as a bottle opener. I got a T-shirt that says "I love Jack" on the front with like a dagger and tattoo like graphics and said "POTC" on the back. I also made him try on some other things:

16HoneymoonDay3.jpg

He was pleasantly surprised and impressed when I sent our gear to our room so we didn't have to carry it around. We then headed over to Jungle Cruise, but not before passing the front of POTC. A cast memeber spotted us, and at first I thought we would get yet another "Congrats," but instead he looked at Andy and in his pirate voice said "Hey! You gots the redhead!" I seriously could not stop laughing.

There was a short 10 minute wait at JC (again, if that) and I was so excited to hear that they have adapted Kungaloosh into their vernacular. Only us true Adventure's know it's true meaning! This was our tour guide, who's name I can't remember, but MAN did he have some energy. I swear he had like 5 shots of espresso before our tour. But he was entertaining and I enjoyed the same spiel I know by heart at this point:

17HoneymoonDay3.jpg

Now I will admit something my fellow Diser's. I have never tried a Dole Whip before. It's amazing I know, but I am a Citrus Swirl girl all the way...that is until they stopped making it the right way. So this was the first trip I wouldn't have my favorite citrus treat. I finally admitted defeat, and figured maybe I could find it's replacement. So I got a Dole Whip float. I will admit, it was delicious, not my Citrus Swirl, but I will be getting plenty more in the future.

18HoneymoonDay3.jpg

The pineapple ice cream was dyed green for the holidays! It weirded me out everytime I put a bite in my mouth. My brain thought it was mint.

I took my float over to the Swiss Family treehouse and we took the grand tour while I finished it up. I've always loved the movie and the attraction since I was a little girl, but Andy has never seen it. He still enjoyed it, but I think I may have to buy the DVD.

It was only 12:20ish at this point and our ADR wasn't until 1:00, but I wanted to head back to Liberty Square so that we could ride Haunted Mansion before that. So back we went and we got into yet another shockingly short line.

19HoneymoonDay3.jpg

I have to say that I love all of the updates made to HM. Especially that the spider room was replaced with the Escher like staircases. I also love the attic now, although Im surprised at how pretty the bride is in the pictures and then her ghost is really not good looking at all.

After Haunted Mansion we still had some time to kill so we found the nearest rocking chairs and Andy called home to his family to tell them how it was going so far. It was nice to just sit back and relax for a moment! But eventually there was a grumbly in my tumbly, and I needed some food!

So off we went to Liberty Tree Tavern for yet an another amazing meal. We were seated probably within a few minutes of arriving and our table was covered in Mickey confetti. Of course I had my fun with that:

20HoneymoonDay3.jpg

Next we ordered our meals, Andy went with The Tri-Corner Sandwich
Roast Beef and Swiss Cheese with Liberty Slaw, Horseradish Cream Sauce, and Arugula served on Multigrain Bread with Tavern Fries

22HoneymoonDay3.jpg

I decided on the Pilgrim's Feast: Traditional Roast Turkey and Herb Bread Dressing, Mashed Potatoes, and Green Beans. This was the best and worst idea! Best in that it tasted amazing, worst in that I kept slipping into a turkey coma for the rest of the day.

21HoneymoonDay3.jpg

So far, so good. By 1:00pm we had done 9 attractions, most of them being the popular rides! However, I started to realize that I had pre-paid for our photopass and we hardly had any! It was time to fix that problem!!

More soon!

I'm glad Andy loves SM and BTMR :)

Love the CM shouting the red head remark

Your Pilgrims feast looks delish, love WDW mash potato.

Looking forward to seeing PP pics :)

I was so confused when I saw that the Dole Whip was green. But it's so cool that they died it green for Christmas. That's so insane. I would totally think it's mint. But anyways...I'm glad you guys liked Splash Mountain. I love that ride so much.

Oh my gosh, it still makes me laugh! And I highly reccomend the pilgrims feast next time you go to LTT for lunch!

Oh man, I was confused too. I kinda looked at it and looked at them like "Um....this isn't pineapple" I read somewhere that they make the vanilla red so when you swirl it together it's green and red.

Day Three (11/11/09) cont.

"Photopass time!"

After lunch, I realized that we hadn't taking enough photopass pictures for my liking and I hadn't even scored a picture of us in front of the castle! Time to rectify that. So we made our way to the hub of Magic Kingdom:

Ahh, the partners statue. Brings a tear to my eye!

After we took some pictures, I started to formulate a new plan. Since we didn't get a chance to ride the train, which was kind of something Andy wanted to do, I decided to head up Main Street and we could take the train back to Toontown, like I had intended originally. So off we went! Then suddenly, out of the corner of my eye I saw Chip and Dale! The line was not too long, so I dragged DH over and we waited. Of course, the second we got in line, the characters had to take a break. However, while we continued to wait, the fireman guy came out and immediately spotted me.

He exclaimed that my hair was on fire and that he needed to put it out! So that's what he is doing, blowing out my hair:
28HoneymoonDay3.jpg

And then right after that, Chip and Dale came back out so we could get our pictures!
29HoneymoonDay3.jpg

30HoneymoonDay3.jpg

Before we went to get on the train, we also spotted some janitor artwork:
31HoneymoonDay3.jpg

Getting on the train was so nice and relaxing. The weather was just so perfect and the breeze felt amazing. If I didn't have such a tight schedule of activities I would have allowed us to ride the train around a couple of times. Maybe next time! Anyway, we got off and of course Andy wanted to smoke. Now, I can't get mad, as I am a smoker too, but for some reason when I am in Disney, I forget my crazy addiction to nicotine and just go without for long periods of time! Luckily for Andy the smoking section is immediately to the right of the train exit in Toontown. And luckily for me, this is also where characters come out!!

So while Andy and I are sitting, Tigger and Pooh both walk out the back door, and I am right there to take my picture without waiting!!

32HoneymoonDay3.jpg

33HoneymoonDay3.jpg

Wahoo! Meeting lots of characters had me all excited, so we headed over to Goofy's Barnstormer, to give that a whirl.
34HoneymoonDay3.jpg

There nothing else we really wanted to do in Toontown or Fantasyland so it was time to head to Tomorrowland! As much as I want to continue updating, I'm starting to get a headache and need to stop staring at the computer. More next time!

Posting a mini update that has nothing to do with Disney, we here in Virginia got snow!!! Lots of it! So DH and I have pretty much been stuck in the house all day yesterday and today. I'm on my way to start shoveling some snow, but here is a picture of it before I destroy the pretty powder:

Also a picture of our X-mas tree which we decorated with some ornaments we bought when we were in Disney!

Great update, love the Fireman pic, so funny! Great Castle pics too, you two look so cute together :)

Great update! Don't you just love those character sightings?!! We had lots of snow too up here in Stafford - I actually came to work today in Fredericksburg (such a good employee ;)) Only one to show up but don't mind sitting here reading the Dis and enjoying a cup of hot cocoa :surfweb:

Great updates! You've gotten a lot done in Magic Kingdom, and your lunch looked delicious! Love all the photopass pics!

I followed the link in your sig from the post you left on my TR, so I'm subscribing! The fireman pic is too funny. I'm glad your DH enjoyed the Disney honeymoon!! I had to convince my DH on it for our honeymoon too, but he is so glad that we did it. He has always liked Disney, but I think that trip really made him LOVE Disney, just still not as much as me!! :lmao:

Looking forward to more updates. :thumbsup2

Oh man, holidays have kept me busy! Working in retail will do that to ya! Anyway, thanks for those who are reading, I promise to update faster than I have been. I always thought "Man how come it takes people so long to update" but now I understand completely.

My kids loved the fact we got snow.

I bet they did! We saw a lot of kids playing out in the snow. I felt bad that it happened right when their X-mas break started, so they didn't even get out of school because of it!

Great update, love the Fireman pic, so funny! Great Castle pics too, you two look so cute together :)

Aww, thank you so much! I love our castle pics :goodvibes And yeah the fireman was a little weird but hilarious. My hair got a lot of attention on this trip!

Yeah I didn't have to go to work over the weekend, which was nice! But it did make that Monday super crazy with all the people that missed their X-mas shopping for the weekend!

We did see a lot of characters, which I was excited about! I haven't taken this many character pictures since I was in Tokyo Disney like 7 years ago. Andy thought it was odd, be he indulged me. (Such a good husband!)

Great updates! You've gotten a lot done in Magic Kingdom, and your lunch looked delicious! Love all the photopass pics!

We accomplished a lot! I had planned it all out to the minute that way, but I was actually surprised that it worked out! And our lunch was amazing.

I don't think DH will ever love Disney the way I loved Disney, but he said he had an awesome time and openly admits it to other people! In fact, he is even excited to go back again, so my mission is complete! Thanks for joining in!

Day Three (11/11/09) cont.

"On this lovely bella notte!"

It was time to visit the final land in MK, Tomorrowland! I think this might be my favorite land, even though it doesn't contain my favorite rides. Although Space Mountain is up there, however it was still closed at this point. I'm sad to learn they did soft openings later in the week when we weren't there and I didn't find out until after I got home. Ah well.

Originally I had intended to get on Buzz first, but I think it said there was a 30 minute wait, so we got some fastpasses and headed over to Carousel of Progress! I just wanted the song stuck in my head for the rest of the day so I could sing it over and over. We still had a small amount of time left before our FPs matured so we headed to the Peoplemover (or TTA) for a relaxing ride. DH could care less about the new dialogue, but I myself was not crazy about it. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't the same either.

36HoneymoonDay3.jpg

Oh why yes, I did snap some pictures of Space Mountain!
37HoneymoonDay3.jpg

38HoneymoonDay3.jpg

After we got off TTA, another bit of Disney magic occurred for us! I had showed Andy a video on Youtube of a guy proposing to his girlfriend using "Push" the talking trashcan. Andy thought this was sooo awesome. Mostly he just loved the talking trashcan and really wanted to see him. I had planned on trying to find him, but for some reason I had forgotten all about it on the actual day. Luckily for us, we ran straight into Push!! And Push immediately wanted to talk to us! I was taking a video of the event when it happened.

Its hard to understand him, but he told me I looked like the little mermaid and asked me if I was Ariel (red hair strikes again) then he said hi to andy and asked where we were from. Then he asked us if we were having a good time, and demanded a photo! That's when I turned the video off, because he harassed a man who I don't even think was paying attention and made him take a picture of us.

39HoneymoonDay3.jpg

After our Push encounter, it was time to get our Buzz on! I must point out that my score, was MUCH higher than DH's, and he accused me of cheating. It's not my fault he did not take control of the joystick and it's also not my fault that our car stopped in a room near a target that gave me tons of points.

40HoneymoonDay3.jpg

41HoneymoonDay3.jpg

42HoneymoonDay3.jpg

Apparently, my "cheating" was enough to throw me in jail with Zurg.

43HoneymoonDay3.jpg

We headed over to Stitch to check out the show. It's not as great as Alien, but I still like it for what it is. Andy liked it ok, and somehow he managed to not smell the chili dog!! How, I have no clue. After that, he said he didn't feel like doing the Laugh floor, so I suggested we do Pirates and HM again! He was game so off we went. But not before catching the star of the show we had just witnessed! There is a story involved in this, so I'll try to explain shot by shot:

100HoneymoonDay3.jpg

102HoneymoonDay3.jpg

104HoneymoonDay3.jpg

106HoneymoonDay3.jpg

It all started innocently enough, we meet them, hug them, pictures taken! But then Stitch decided to commit some mischief.

109HoneymoonDay3.jpg

In this picture he is actually pulled me away from DH as he is hugging me! Then he demanded that DH take off his Just Married button and give it to him! (Please ignore how terrible I look in this picture)

111HoneymoonDay3.jpg

Lilo immediately got jealous and took the button back so that she could be "married" to Andy. As soon as she did the CM looked at her and said "Lilo, you can't do that...you're six!" Awkward!!!

113HoneymoonDay3.jpg

Andy is no longer a Stitch fan! I mean in fairness he did try to steal his wife. No, just kidding. It was just a running joke for the rest of the trip that he had it out for Stitch. Anyway, moving along we kept on going to PotC and we spotted Jack Sparrow! He kept moving too much though, so I could never get a good shot.

49HoneymoonDay3.jpg

50HoneymoonDay3.jpg

We rode that and then skipped over to HM to ride that again! Neither one of them had a wait which I surprised since it was now the evening and I figured the parks would be more crowded. Hey, I'm not complaining! We still had a little time before our ADR but not much, so we headed over to Main Street to go eat at Tony's!

51HoneymoonDay3.jpg

52HoneymoonDay3.jpg

(More on next post)

We checked in at Tony's but it was jam packed! This was the only time I think we ran into this problem. We did have to wait for a little bit but in all fairness we were there earlier than our ADR. We did eventually get in though! YAY!

53HoneymoonDay3.jpg

We decided to just share a plate of Spaghetti and Meatballs, mostly because we wanted to recreate the famous Lady and the Tramp kiss!

54HoneymoonDay3.jpg

I will admit, that this was probably our least favorite meal of the entire trip. I mean for an Italian restaurant the Spaghetti was very blah and lacking. We did have excellent service though! So at least that made up for it! Our waitress was patient enough while we positioned our kissing pose:

55HoneymoonDay3.jpg

56HoneymoonDay3.jpg

The table across from us actually clapped when we kissed!! It was so sweet of them :thumbsup2 Then our waitress brought us a free sundae! And also our Tira Misu which came with our dining plan. I had intended on taking the Tira Misu to go, but I ended up eating all of it.

57HoneymoonDay3.jpg

58HoneymoonDay3.jpg

After our meal, we stepped out just in time to catch the beginning of Spectro! I hadn't scheduled the parade in our itinerary mostly because I figured we would miss it with dinner and because I didn't think Andy would be interested in it. However, with time to kill before Wishes we found a spot in the crowd and watched! He actually thought it was pretty cool and I managed to get some pictures. They went downhill the longer I took them, so I gave up after awhile and kept the ones that weren't too blurry:

59HoneymoonDay3.jpg

60HoneymoonDay3.jpg

61HoneymoonDay3.jpg

62HoneymoonDay3.jpg

63HoneymoonDay3.jpg

After the parade we followed the tail end up to the castle so we could catch Wishes. I ended up leaving DH in search of popcorn and had to wait in line for like 20 minutes! Yeesh! Eventually I rejoined him and we took some pictures of the castle.

64HoneymoonDay3.jpg

65HoneymoonDay3.jpg

Wishes finally came on and I put the camera away. I don't want to be distracted from my favorite show! I got teary eyed finally watching the fireworks in MK with my new husband, it was just too perfect. Even now the thought brings a tear to my eye. I know, I'm a sap.

After the show, we headed back to the bus stop where we must have waited for like an hour just to get on a bus! It was a little ridiculous but we were patient and in the end we were like the second people on a bus where we could sit down. I sat in DH's lap, so we only took up one seat though. Eventually we made it home and got to see our newest towel creation before hitting the hay!

66HoneymoonDay3.jpg

Wishes is just so magical. It must have been just amazing watching it with your new husband.
Can't wait for more updates!

That episode with Lilo and Stitch had me in stitches!! :lmao: How cute and what a memory for your trip - you are an adorable couple and I love how innovative you both were on this trip. The "kissing" scene at Tony's was so cute and romantic :lovestruc

Oh Taryn, I am just loving your trip report!!! I'm planning to have my honeymoon in Disney and it seems you enjoy the same things I do......I can't wait to read more!!!!

I love them too, even though I look sweaty and red. Sometimes I think we interacted better with the characters than the kids ;)

Awww thank you so much. I am an extremely silly, fun loving person, something my husband has never stifled. In fact, he'll jump in from time to time and can be just as silly. Being in Disney definitely brings out the kids in both of us :yay:

Oh congrats, I'm sure you and your hubby will have a blast! I haven't even gotten to the fun extra's we did yet so I hope you enjoy those! If you need any tips planning let me know!

Oh that Stitch is a naughty one!!! Love how he tried to steal you away and Lilo got jealous :lmao:
