Day Three (11/11/09) cont.
"You gots the redhead!!"
Ok, I changed the title from what I originally thought it was going to be because I remembered one of my favorite quotes from our trip....or any trip really. But you must wait for explanation!
For now, I take you back to Splash Mountain, which was our next destination after meeting the Toy Story stars. Now this was a ride Andy was nervous to ride. He may look big and tough, but he does not like heights and has never tried thrill rides before this trip. I thought I was lucky enough that he actually loved Test Track. He had seen so many different videos of the drop and I couldn't convince him that the drop looks steeper than it actually is. However, he is sitting right next to me and he said that he gives Splash Mountain a 10!!
I love Splash Mountain, so I'm glad he enjoyed it so we can ride it again and again next time. This ride did however do my hair in. The humidity had already caused my hair to curl (I straightened it perfectly every morning) and the water splashed onto my bangs. Luckily, I came prepared with stretchy headbands for just such an emergency! (Yes, my vanity is great
)
Ok, so on to Big Thunder Mountain! Andy was not as nervous about this one because I assured him there were no inversions, no steep hills and no drops, and that the track for the most part was not suspended in the air, but a track on the "ground" (aka the mountainy terrain) He said he also gives this one a 10! (He loves trains) I should also mentioned we waited maybe 10 minutes, if not less time in this line and waited like 2 minutes for Splash Mountain. Here are some pics I took in line:
After the ride, we found the designated smoking area that was right around the corner and took some more photos of the scenery.
Ok, so this was taken on the way to Adventureland, but whatever.
So now it was time to meet up with Jack Sparrow and his surly crew. I could barely contain my excitement! This is my favorite ride in the world, tying only with Haunted Mansion. I don't know why...it's just awesome. And Andy loved it!! In fact when we got off, we actually spent time in the gift shop and I forced him to finally buy himself some souvenirs! He got a T-shirt that says "The beatings will continue, until morale improves" and a metal skull magnet that acts as a bottle opener. I got a T-shirt that says "I love Jack" on the front with like a dagger and tattoo like graphics and said "POTC" on the back. I also made him try on some other things:
He was pleasantly surprised and impressed when I sent our gear to our room so we didn't have to carry it around. We then headed over to Jungle Cruise, but not before passing the front of POTC. A cast memeber spotted us, and at first I thought we would get yet another "Congrats," but instead he looked at Andy and in his pirate voice said "Hey! You gots the redhead!" I seriously could not stop laughing.
There was a short 10 minute wait at JC (again, if that) and I was so excited to hear that they have adapted Kungaloosh into their vernacular. Only us true Adventure's know it's true meaning! This was our tour guide, who's name I can't remember, but MAN did he have some energy. I swear he had like 5 shots of espresso before our tour. But he was entertaining and I enjoyed the same spiel I know by heart at this point:
Now I will admit something my fellow Diser's. I have never tried a Dole Whip before. It's amazing I know, but I am a Citrus Swirl girl all the way...that is until they stopped making it the right way. So this was the first trip I wouldn't have my favorite citrus treat. I finally admitted defeat, and figured maybe I could find it's replacement. So I got a Dole Whip float. I will admit, it was delicious, not my Citrus Swirl, but I will be getting plenty more in the future.
The pineapple ice cream was dyed green for the holidays! It weirded me out everytime I put a bite in my mouth. My brain thought it was mint.
I took my float over to the Swiss Family treehouse and we took the grand tour while I finished it up. I've always loved the movie and the attraction since I was a little girl, but Andy has never seen it. He still enjoyed it, but I think I may have to buy the DVD.
It was only 12:20ish at this point and our ADR wasn't until 1:00, but I wanted to head back to Liberty Square so that we could ride Haunted Mansion before that. So back we went and we got into yet another shockingly short line.
I have to say that I love all of the updates made to HM. Especially that the spider room was replaced with the Escher like staircases. I also love the attic now, although Im surprised at how pretty the bride is in the pictures and then her ghost is really not good looking at all.
After Haunted Mansion we still had some time to kill so we found the nearest rocking chairs and Andy called home to his family to tell them how it was going so far. It was nice to just sit back and relax for a moment! But eventually there was a grumbly in my tumbly, and I needed some food!
So off we went to Liberty Tree Tavern for yet an another amazing meal. We were seated probably within a few minutes of arriving and our table was covered in Mickey confetti. Of course I had my fun with that:
Next we ordered our meals, Andy went with The Tri-Corner Sandwich
Roast Beef and Swiss Cheese with Liberty Slaw, Horseradish Cream Sauce, and Arugula served on Multigrain Bread with Tavern Fries
I decided on the Pilgrim's Feast: Traditional Roast Turkey and Herb Bread Dressing, Mashed Potatoes, and Green Beans. This was the best and worst idea! Best in that it tasted amazing, worst in that I kept slipping into a turkey coma for the rest of the day.
So far, so good. By 1:00pm we had done 9 attractions, most of them being the popular rides! However, I started to realize that I had pre-paid for our photopass and we hardly had any! It was time to fix that problem!!
More soon!
