Taryn and Andy's Honeymoon Extravaganza!! 11/9/-11/15 Trip Report Updated: 3/24/10

V cool, off to go check out your PTR, loving the sound of a Disney Princess Wedding Shower :)

Day One (11/09/09) (cont.)

Downtown Disney and DisneyQuest

So after we browsed in the gift shop we made our way back to the boat just as it pulled up to the dock! Lucky us! As we made our way down the river to Downtown Disney I took a couple pictures.

This is what we called the "fancier" side of POR ;) Alligator Bayou (where we stayed) is made to look more like rural New Orleans I guess?

You can see Characters in Flight in the distance:

Eventually we docked at the Market Place and it was time to find food! But in order to find food I had to "look" through other gift shops so we went into Goofy's Candy Co and Days of Christmas store. As much as I wanted to do some shopping, I knew we had a whole week to do it and my stomach was starting to growl. Fortunately, Wolfgang Puck Express is right around the corner from where we were. I was excited for Andy to have his first meal on Disney property! He said that all this time I had hyped up the food and he was worried it wasn't going to be as tasty as he is hoping. Well, I guess we will find out, huh?

I got Rosemary Rotisserie Chicken and Creme Brulee.

Andy got a BBQ Chicken Quesadilla and an Oatmeal Cookie for Dessert.

I can safely say that after this, Andy was hooked. He said his meal was amazing and I must admit mine was really delicious too. Especially the potatoes which I have been hooked to ever since I had them at Wolfgang Puck in 2001. The chicken was so moist and perfectly seasoned. I could have just eaten the skin and been happy.

After our stuffing ourselves full of delicious, we made our way to DisneyQuest, making a few stops on the way. I had to buy pins at one of the carts and then we went into the Magic Shop to check out the guy doing card tricks (they were so awesome! If it wasn't so expensive, we might have considered buying one of them) Here are some more pictures as we made our way:

Once we finally made it inside DisneyQuest I was pleasantly surprised to find it absolutely dead. I mean literally there was no one in there. We literally just walked up to every attraction and did it immediately. I wish I had thought to take pictures but alas, I didn't. First we got onto Ride the Comix and Invasion! Alien Enounter. Then I wanted Andy to try out Cyberspace Mountain, so off we went to design our own coaster. This ride is actually really fun and I love seeing the sample video at the end of us riding.

I had to take Andy on the Pirate ride! So we went downstairs to check it out, and of course, no line! Now I will admit I think this game is a little more fun with more people, but the two of us made it work. Andy tried to fire all the cannons he could and I steered, while also using the two cannons on my right and left. After all of the 3D, virtual stuff, Andy said he was getting kind of disoriented. So we decided to just play normal arcade games for awhile.

Then I noticed the Buzz Lightyear bumper cars and had to try it out! I've never done them before. They aren't like normal bumper cars, there are balls all over the court and when you drive over it, it comes into your car and you can put it into your cannon. Then you have to shoot it at the targets on the other cars so that they spin out of control. You have to have two people so Andy and I couldn't go against each other. Instead we played two 10 year old boys. Let me just say that DH and I rocked those kids!! HAHA! They were good sports though :thumbsup2

Andy wasn't up for much more virtual stuff, so we decided to do Cyberspace Mountain one more time before we left. After that we just wandered around Downtown Disney for awhile until our Raglan Road ADR. It was supposed to be at 6:30, but we were both so tired, that we just wanted to eat an go home. So we went there at 6:00 and asked if they could seat us. Sure enough, table for two was ready right away!

We were both a little full from eating a late lunch so we decided to share a Sheppard's Pie (made with beef and lamb)

After our very tasty dinner, we got back to the boat and made our way home. We needed to get some sleep for our first day in the Disney Parks!

Beautiful dress, I love vintage dresses there is something extra special about them :)

Cool that you got to go to your room straightaway, POR looks really nice.

Looking forward to reading more :)

Thank you! I think the dress is special too. Someone said to me on my wedding day that someone got to have their special day in that dress, and now some 50 years later, I got to have my special day too! I loved that thought :goodvibes Hope you enjoy my bridal shower pictures!

Congratulations!!! I'm soo excited to read the rest of your trip report. DH (also a Disney convert since meeting me) and I stayed at POR for our honeymoon in 2006 and LOVED it too. We loved it so much that we are going back in March!

Love your room at POR! Your meals at WPE and RR looked really good; I'm looking forward to WPE in 3 weeks! Glad you enjoyed DQ; we had a lot of fun there, too!

I'm subscribing!
I love the car. Very cute. Your dress was so beautiful. I love the whole idea of a 50's wedding.
Can't wait to hear more about your trip!

We really did love POR too! We want to go back in Oct and originally I just wanted to stay at a value resort like the Pop, but I think we might be tempted to stay there again!

Oh they were so good! I wish I could go back right now so I could eat more. Enjoy WPE for me!!

Did you guys ride the Balloon?

No, we didn't. DH and I are both terrified of heights, so the balloon wasn't going to be a great idea for either of us. Funnily enough I still love thrill rides like coasted or ToT! He had to be convinced to ride a couple of things though.

Day Two (11/10/09) (cont.)

"So, we are seeing the golf ball today?"

Wahoo! First park day had finally arrived. :woohoo: Despite the fact that I was still very tired, I wanted to wake up early so that we could maybe make EMH at Epcot. I got up around 6:45am and started to get ready, waking up DH at 7ish so we could get out the door as soon as possible to get breakfast and make our bus. The best laid plans....sigh....

We did make it to breakfast on time at the Riverside Mill and of course we both got Mickey Waffles!!
01HoneymoonDay2.jpg

Now neither one of us is used to eating breakfast, so right afterwards DH said his stomach wasn't feeling so great. As much as I wanted to rush off to the park, we were on our honeymoon and I had to bring in the reigns. We went back to our room and sat down for a little bit until he was ready to go. Luckily, we didn't really wait for a bus for very long, so we ended up making it to Epcot by around 8:30am.

At this point, I had many expectations for how crowded Epcot would be. I had heard it wouldn't be crowded, but then other people said they waited in longer lines than they had expected too. Even though I'm getting ahead of myself, let's just say for a person who has only been to Disney during the summer months, I couldn't have even imagined how great the lines were.

First act of business was to get our first photopass photos since I pre-purchased a CD and planned to get my money's worth!

The second we walked in, I thought we might as well hit Spaceship Earth. Literally we walked right on and sat in our car! I haven't been on it since 2007, so it was neat to hear Judi Dench and see all the new improvements made. Andy and I thought the ending with our own future was hilarious (mostly because of his face).

02HoneymoonDay2.jpg

We were surprised when we came out to also find our faces on the big world map! Then they vanished to Richmond, VA where they belonged ;)
03HoneymoonDay2.jpg

After that, it was time to go get on Soarin' before the lines go to crazy. We had to make our way over there later at 11:00, but I didn't want to wait that long. So off to the land we went!
04HoneymoonDay2.jpg

When we got there, the line I think said it was a 20 minute wait, but again we almost walked right on. I think we only waited like 5 minutes. Now I was little worried that Andy wouldn't like this one since he gets disoriented around heights (which I do too, but for some reason this ride doesn't bother me). However, I think he actually liked it! It wasn't what he was expecting but he thought it was cool. Success!!

Since we had to be back at The Land at 11:00am (and I won't tell you why just yet) I wanted to get in some more rides, including Test Track. So we headed over that way and saw there was another 20 minutes wait. Now this one actually looked more accurate and I really wanted to optimize our time. So we grabbed fast passes and headed over to The Universe of Energy to see Ellen!

Just a picture from the Ellen line.
05HoneymoonDay2.jpg

As soon as Ellen was over and we had learned all about energy we rushed over to use our Test Track fast passes! Andy really liked this ride a lot and I think it may have been his favorite for our whole trip.

We got out of Test Track at 10:50! We had a date at The Land to make, so off we went! What are we going to do you might ask? You'll just have to wait until I post the next part!!

Next: "Hydro-what now?"

What are you going off to do in the Land, am v intrigued :)

Great update! I'm glad Andy was feeling better quickly and you were able to still go to Epcot.

Oh! Early congrats!! You are going to have such a great time at the Riverside, my DH and I loved it. How lucky to be in Disney World for Christmas! I'm jealous.

Congrats to you! I love birdcage veils, I think they are just so classically elegant and I'm glad I went with that instead of a normal veil. I read your PTR, it looks like you are just ready to get married and be done with all the wedding drama :rotfl:

I do love the tartan prints that we have for the holiday season, but I have my eye set on the jade patent Maggie!!

Great update! I'm glad Andy was feeling better quickly and you were able to still go to Epcot.

Hmmm...are you doing the Behind the Seeds tour?
