Target Cards for Disney Cards

You are correct about yesterdays episode. That is all they mention, but listening to episodes as recently as January (I think episode 104 or 105?), they are still talking about getting around 8% which suggests that they are getting the discount Target gift cards at around 3% off with an extra 5%. I emailed them to clarify this and hope to hear back soon.

FWIW, I don't think they'd still be talking about buying Disney GCs at Target unless they were getting a deal. Everyone knows you can still get 5% off very easily.

And yes... I could be totally wrong about this whole thing but we'll see.
The 8% is based on buying discounted Target GCs, not using the redCard. You can get Target GCs at 8% off plus any Cashback on your credit cards. Use GiftCardGranny to compare Target discounted GCs.

That makes sense. Thanks.

Thanks for letting us know.
Thanks for setting me straight. I was beginning to wonder if it was a waste to use the Target GCs at all anymore but what you said about using a 5% cash back card to get discount cards makes a lot of sense. That's still a pretty good savings right there.

The additional savings obviously depend on your credit card, but every little bit helps!

Yep, this is exactly my gameplan. Haven't found anything that's better yet. 5%-off Walmart GCs used at Sam's for discounted Disney GCs may be a little more lucrative (~1%), but you'll need a Sam's membership, which I don't gots. :P

My AMEX had $25 back on a membership (thru 1/31), plus TopCashBack had 6% Cashback and also a $15 Sam’s ecard, so I got a membership for under $3. Only signed up for Sam’s to get the Disney GCs. Lol

I think I am just convert my rewards savings (swagbucks/ibotta) into paypal, and then use my red card. Seems safer!

It’s also better since you save more. If you cash out for $100 and buy $100 worth of Disney GCs with your redCard, you’ll save an extra $5 instead of getting a Target GC, where you don’t get to save anything additional.

But, when you have a credit card that you earn points on and can buy Target cards, but not Disney, it becomes a real obstacle for trip savings that Target's policy is so disjointed. I added $325 to my Disney budget with Target cards from earned points. Many people have added much more. I won't save up Target cards again for one transaction like I did as practically had a heart attack trying to convert them. Really don't understand Target's policy on this.

I just tried to buy 3- $100 gc online at target with my red card and it didn’t give me free shipping or the 5% off. I took them out of the cart and put in 6- $50 gc and it worked. Was this a random glitch?

I just bought a $25 Disney gift card today at my local Target. I used the self-checkout lane and paid with my $25 gift card that I got from Swagbucks. It asked me for the access code and I was able to enter it without needing an employee...no problems at all. This is in West Michigan, for reference.
