I booked a fast pass for Mickey at MK not realizing he talks there. I think it's really cute, but I foresee it causing problems. My girls will inevitably question why he talks at MK but not at AK or Epcot. We really like the character spots and seeing the characters at the various locations in the different costumes, such as the safari gear at AK. I'm concerned about keeping this FP at MK now. Has anyone else ran into this problem with their kids?

How old are they?

When my daughter was 4 she figured out on her own that the characters were just "regular people in big costumes". I confirmed that and he still had fun meeting them.

I say go if you think it will be fun and if they figure it out, oh well. Or if you'd really like to keep the magic, tell them one or the other was real.

Depends on their age. My 2 year old has seen talking Mickey a lot and the other 'fur' characters who don't talk a lot and has never seemed to make a connection that he talks and they don't.

And, word to the wise, the castle show 'Dream Along with Mickey' has the main 4 (Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy) all 'talking' and blinking with the same technology, but their meet and greets still remain mute.

All you have to do is tell them Mickey talks at the "Magic" Kingdom because that is where he is a "Magic"ian. If they ever watched a parade, they saw Mickey and Minnie lip-syncing along the parade route. Did that cause any problems? You may just be overthinking this. They may already know Mickey is just a character animated by a person.

My daughter also noticed that the Cinderella we met at the castle and the Cinderella that was in the parade were two different people. You just have to roll with it. They'll figure it out eventually.

Great idea!!! Everyone's right; I'm sure I'm putting too much into this. I had forgotten that Mickey talks in his shows/parades. We'll roll with it and see what happens.

Thanks everyone!

My 4 year old mentioned that the Mickey at MK (talking Mickey) blinked his eyes while another one didn't. So he noticed but it didn't seem to take away the magic for him. I think he knows it's people in costumes but he hasn't said so.
