Tale as Old as Time...a Feb 2017 Princess 5k and B-Day Trip! NEW 4/7 THE END of our trip!!

That night was so much fun wi you and Lindsey and Will! Devin and I had a great time, it was a great way to kick off our trip! I give you lots of credit for hanging in as long as you did, after a 5K and a busy day I'd have probably been out at 9:00 like Billie!

Speaking of Devin, her and my son, Dray are going to DW by themselves in May, but I think they arrive the day after you leave. We got her an annual pass when we were there and her and her brother decided to do a big kids only trip, I'm so excited for them!

Tokyo dining looks good

Sorry you had monorail troubles that night, but it all worked out ok in the end!

Pre-race Dinner

Loved your review of the dinner at 1900 Park Faire. The interactions sound like they were fantastic and I especially loved hearing about Drizella yelling about you deserving more diamonds!

All the food looks good and who doesn't enjoy a refreshing fruit soup?

I have never been to this dining spot, and in fact, still have never stepped foot in the Grand Floridian.

:sad2:

Catching up!

You guys did SO WELL on the 5k, congrats!!!

I had no idea you were able to stop for photos and breaks....ok now I think *I* could do one too :thumbsup2 Gonna go check out the RunDisney website after I submit this comment :cool1:

Dinner at Tokyo looks yum!! I think the perfect dinner for your day at the race and such. Can't believe you got so much done at Epcot that day, too! Rockstars!!! I love how now that I've actually been to WDW (one park at least lol) I recognize where you were

That sucks about the monorail delay. But yay for having a dismeet!!

"You haven't bought her any diamonds in 9 years?!?"

Me (to DH): I think I like this Drizella character!!
DH (to me): No wonder she's still single...

That is hysterical. My DH would have crumbled under the embarrassment.

Almost there...

And we're done!!!

Congratulations on completing the race. The photopass pictures are awesome!

I'm enjoying reading your trip report.

The bento box looked amazing. We used to have a place where I live that served a great bento box but they closed. It looked similar to yours. It also served sushi on a conveyer belt like places in Japan. Looking forward to your Star Wars update

Cant wait to read along! You have SUCH a beautiful family!

Thank you so much and welcome!

I'm like you, no way can I go bagless! I switch to a smaller purse but I'd be lost with no purse at all.
Awesome on the group Dis-meet! I'm really bummed because we have two trips coming up, later this month and in May, and we're totally missing tons of my Dis friends by days in some cases.

I know! I always feel like I can go bagless then at the last minute I change my mind because, well what if I need the poncho just in case, or what if I get a migraine and need to take something...there are so many things I can think of whereby the extra 15 minutes in line seems worth it.

Seems like we'll miss each other in May! Oh well! hopefully our paths will cross one day!

Younger DS and I had a bad monorail experience trying to get to Narcoossee's in Nov. One was apparently backing in to their "garage"?? for the night, and when that happens no other monorail train can move and it takes awhile to get in the garage. So there was no movement for almost 30 minutes, the line was crazy backed up and people left and right were complaining about missed dining reservations :(

Yeah those damn monorails. They are supposed to be so convenient, and you pay a premium to stay at these resorts, but they have so many issues and are always under maintenance. Grrrr. I'm sure many people missed ADRs too that night I was waiting.

Finally reading up on your trip.

Your nieces are adorable! Your August trip is going to be so fun!

Thanks! Yeah they are cuties until they have a meltdown.... I will preface to say it was not my idea to go in august and I am proposing we become a vampire...like only going out at night, buahahahaha! But yeah that was short lived.

Nice call on staying the night at the Hyatt, but YIKES! on the ME crowds. The advantage of the ME bus already being full is that you don't have to wait long to leave. But getting front row seats on the bus: Priceless! Awesome arch picture!

I loved the one night at the hyatt and then waking up early to go straight to ME. It was fantastic. ME was PACKED!! So many runners and their families in town. But it was cool, we managed to get on the bus, and sitting in those first seats allows us to take the arch pitures really well!

Uh oh! Sorry to hear about your camera issues. I hope it isn't something too expensive.

I hope so to. I have to get it packaged up and sent in soon.

I have never been over to ESPN.

There is no reason to unless there's an event you want to do like a Run Disney or watch Spring Training. They do have a cafe/grill area which surprised me

Your room at the CR looks very sleek. Not a bad view at all. I hope we will be seeing some sunrise shots.

er, yeah no sunrise shots from me, lol. I barely woke up when it was just sun. LOL
That is great that you were able to get the hint about the short cut.

It totally shaved off about 10 minutes. We were so grateful!
***********************************************************************

That first photopass picture with the castle is kind of neat with it washed out and the balloons in the background.

Thanks! It does look like a backdrop. I'm gonna let you know I'm not really in WDW, but I'm in my backyard with a ton of other people around this big backdrop of the castle. Just so I can feel like I'm at WDW all the time!

Bummer on the long FP line for Mine Train. I wonder if it was down earlier in the day. Probably.

Yes I think it went down so now the FP line is all the backlog.

Interesting mac and cheese.

It was good. The mac n cheese is standard but they put tender pot roast on it, with the nice brown gravy and meat juices mixing in with the macn cheese. It was yummy!

That is definitely not a dancing Dole Whip!

Yeah I thought my dole whip CP wasn' the best one. I Was comparing hers to other CMs and hers was lackluster. Boo.

Very cool photo with the castle reflection.

Thank you!

Adorable selfie with talking Mickey.

Thanks!!

I have been curious about Tokyo Dining. We did Teppan Edo once, but I would much rather go to Benihana, so we won't go back. We got sushi at Teppan Edo that I know was from Tokyo Dining. It wasn't Morimoto, Nobu, or Uchi quality, but it was the best thing we had that meal. So, I have been wanting to try the actual dining room. After your review, we put it lower on the list for Epcot.

It's not a must do but I ever crazy something japanese or sushi and I had to have it, then this fits the bill. They had plenty of rolls which we didn't order from so maybe we will give them another shot just not on our next few trips.

We love Trader Sam's. I think we have gone every time we could now. Except for the Black Pearl, we now have all of the souvenir mugs. Their Kalua pork tacos are awesome. We usually make a meal out of going there, because the food is so good.

Yeah the food and drinks are good there. I imagine lots of late night drinks and pupus there after the parks in august.:)

Looks like you had a good time. Glad that one of you was able to make it to the meet. The monorail just annoys me lately. I am looking forward to that new gondola to Epcot/DHS from CBR and CSR.

Ooh I didn't even know about the new gondola but that is going to be a nice service! The monorail worked on every other day of our trip well, except for this one time...just waiting and waiting...it was 40 minutes that it took me to get there.

EDIT: We love Mitsukoshi, DH, DS, and myself! It's one of my fondest memories from visiting Epcot as a kid.

Me too!!! All my Disney memories as a kid were the most poignant in Epcot.

Your meal at Tokyo Dining looks great. We've only eaten there once but definitely need to do it again. That ramen looks delicious and love the idea of trying so many different things in the Bento Box.

It was a very tasty ramen I admin, but it was such a small portion. Could be like a kids portion though. I do like trying differet things in the bento box that's why I ordered it, but too bad not everything was a hit.

Loving your dismeets. So excited you all got to meet up, even if Billie will have to wait until tomorrow. The stars rarely align for trips the same time as us, but hopefully in November.

The Dismeets were so much fun! I really enjoyed see all my old friends and meeting new ones from the DIS! And YAAASSS We have to make November happen!!!

Great Epcot day, we tried Tokyo Dining for the first time this February and really enjoyed it. I still have to try Trader Sam's, hoping the next trip.

Glad you guys enjoyed Tokyo Dining! Some of the things were quite tasty. Next time I may just focus on the sushi entrees. Trader Sams is so much fun but to sit inside it's like impossible. But there is patio seating outdoors which is really lovely especially at night. There's a live guitarist playing Hawaiian classics and it's just lovely. Drinks are the same as indoors and you can get the souvenir glasses too!

That night was so much fun wi you and Lindsey and Will! Devin and I had a great time, it was a great way to kick off our trip! I give you lots of credit for hanging in as long as you did, after a 5K and a busy day I'd have probably been out at 9:00 like Billie!
That's because I was able to rest before heading out. There was no way we were even going to go to a park after the 5k. I just couldn't take it I was so tired. Hahaha. But I was revved up for the night. I usually get a second wind and just want to so stuff at 11pm, hence I'm on the DISBoards right now lol.

Speaking of Devin, her and my son, Dray are going to DW by themselves in May, but I think they arrive the day after you leave. We got her an annual pass when we were there and her and her brother decided to do a big kids only trip, I'm so excited for them!

Yay! How exciting! A Sibling adventure! We didn't scare her away! hahaha.

Tokyo dining looks good

It was pretty good, not fantastic, but solid and good.

Sorry you had monorail troubles that night, but it all worked out ok in the end!

Yup! Thanks for saving us that table. I wasn't sure if you had to fight people for a table there as I know it gets crowded, but looks like you manned the fort well. pirate:

I have never been to this dining spot, and in fact, still have never stepped foot in the Grand Floridian.

:sad2:

It was a great dinner with fun interactions, and such a pretty hotel. Drizella was really somethin' right? Hahaha. DH was not too amused. Hahaha.

Catching up!

You guys did SO WELL on the 5k, congrats!!!

Thank you!

I had no idea you were able to stop for photos and breaks....ok now I think *I* could do one too :thumbsup2 Gonna go check out the RunDisney website after I submit this comment :cool1:

YES That is the whole Run Disney difference! Themed races, characters, medals, etc. It's all so awesome! I wish I were a runner then I'd sign up for everything and anything! I think I will still to the 5Ks for now.

We actually only did very little at Epcot, it's just a ton of walking. Everything had a line. So we just took pictures and ate mostly, haha..

Yeah the monorail issues sucked but thankfully there was no repeat of it the rest of the trip!

That is hysterical. My DH would have crumbled under the embarrassment.

Congratulations on completing the race. The photopass pictures are awesome!

I'm enjoying reading your trip report.

Hahaha My dH was surely mortified but liked to play it down, I'm sure he's like, "whatever Drizella" inside.

Thank you very much the 5K was great!
Thank you and Welcome!

The bento box looked amazing. We used to have a place where I live that served a great bento box but they closed. It looked similar to yours. It also served sushi on a conveyer belt like places in Japan. Looking forward to your Star Wars update

Bentos are quite common in japanese restaurants but restaurants can create their own box and sometimes the offerings would be different, i did enjoy Tokyo Dining's version just not everything in the bento.

Star Wars tour update coming soon!

Following along! Congrats on completing your first 5K! Can't wait to read about the rest of your trip. :)

Hi there and welcome! Thank you so much! It was a lot of fun, surprisingly. It was the characters and the theme. I also liked to look at other's costumes, some were sooooo good! I think I need to learn how to sew! LOL

Loving your TR so far, following along! I absolutely adored your shirt as well as your DH's for the race. Can't wait for more!

Thank you so much!! Thank you! I got my shirt from zazzle and DH's from Amazon.com. Both were great! I wish my tank wasn't racerback but tha twas all the style came in at the time.

I'm enjoying this trip report a lot! Can't wait to read more :)

Thank you so much and welcome to my TR!!

I put on eyebrows, blush, and lipstick so I wouldn't look like death, and only realized after we left the room and on the way to the bus that I drew in my eyebrows too dark! I look a bit like Mommy Dearest but oh well, the eyebrow stuff I use is pretty smudge-proof so apparently that's how I'm running! Guess I was inspired by Prince Charming's look the night before.

Oh my gosh, this made me literally LOL. Can't wait to read the rest, I need to get caught up! :)

I'm here! I'm catching up because I was out of town at the beginning of the month.

(yes we got the Tangled Magic Shot!)
This is so cool!
We checked out and headed towards ME. Oh yeah, and ME was PACKED. I've never seen it so packed.

Line to pay for merchandise.
These lines are my nightmares lol. I've gotten spoiled by low crowd time I think, I struggled a little in DLR in July compared to our February trip! And now that I did MK/Epcot in January... I'm hopeful since we're going in September, at least.
Half of it was the perfect amount of food because the richness of the dish definitely filled you up. The mac n cheese was velveeta-like (yay for plastic cheese) and the pot roast was tender and flavorful. A winner!
Plastic cheese lovers unite! We had this, and said after we should have shared. But it was sooooo good! And it was cool and rainy most of the day, so it was just perfect.
Day 1 Part 3: Pre-Race Dinner at 1900 Park Fare
I sent this post to DF, because it cracked me up. And I'm debating 1900 Park Fare, because the character's seem so fun. There's just so many places I want to eat! Our ADR date is the 18th :scared1:
Yes he was Gaston and he LOVED his look.
I love both of your outfits (and really all of your outfits in your TRs!)
Here's Abu whom we saw at Morocco, of course. But his face looks so funny. Like drunken Abu. Hahaha. I posted this on Instagram and everyone agreed!
He's terrifying, no joke.

Wish I could go bag-less but I am one of those people that likes to carry her life with her every day in a big tote bag, and when I got to Disney I pare it down to a smaller cross-body bag and I still feel like I need more stuff. Haha.
Yup, that's me. I also like a big bag because I can fit a book in it, in case I get bored wherever I'm going... But I struggle fitting everything in my park bag. I don't use my purse on a daily basis anymore, because I don't have a good place to keep it at work... So instead I use my ginormous tote bag I got in Disneyland Paris. It's this same fabric, but a huge tote that zips shut, and I can take anything my heart desires :thumbsup2

Oh my gosh, this made me literally LOL. Can't wait to read the rest, I need to get caught up! :)

Haha yeah, I tried but 3am makeup is not my strong suit. :)

I'm here! I'm catching up because I was out of town at the beginning of the month.

This is so cool!

Hi! Great to see you here!
Yup we got the tangled shot! I went back into MK on our last night specifically for this. At that time it was still a limited time thing but I've heard they are going to make it a permanent fixture in front of the Tangled bathrooms. That would be cool if it were true!

These lines are my nightmares lol. I've gotten spoiled by low crowd time I think, I struggled a little in DLR in July compared to our February trip! And now that I did MK/Epcot in January... I'm hopeful since we're going in September, at least.

Yup, first time ever I've seen ME so bad so I'm thinking it has to be for the races, as well as winter breaks for some people. Even December of last year was maneagable. When we're back at the beginning of May it should not be that bad either, unless everyone has the same idea as we do and head down the first week of May. LOL

Plastic cheese lovers unite! We had this, and said after we should have shared. But it was sooooo good! And it was cool and rainy most of the day, so it was just perfect.

If I were really hungry I'd definitely get my own. and if I were on the dining plan I think this would be a good quick service meal :)

I sent this post to DF, because it cracked me up. And I'm debating 1900 Park Fare, because the character's seem so fun. There's just so many places I want to eat! Our ADR date is the 18th :scared1:

Good luck! I hope you get everything you want! 1900 Park Fare was a really nice buffet and the characters were funny, but I know what you mean about wanting to eat at so many places. It took us years to finally try 1900 Park Fare for dinner!

I love both of your outfits (and really all of your outfits in your TRs!)
thank you!!

He's terrifying, no joke.

I can't believe some Disney executive actually said this was ok to produce and wear this costume in public. Maybe that's why you don't see Abu much! Probably scares too many people.

I've seen those backpacks! A tote version sounds awesome!

Tonight was the night of bad monorail juju apparently.

I waited and waited on the line for the monorail for about 20 minutes with no action at all. People were starting to murmur thing about "monorail shut down" "door wasn't working" "stalled at the GF" - Oh no! I texted Lindsey and Kelly to tell them I was going to be late, and Lindsey said she and her DH Will were also taking the monorail after their dinner at 1900 Park Fare...and they were stuck too! Kelly and her DD had managed to get us a table outside at Trader Sams though, so that was awesome! :thumbsup2

That's awful! One of the things I was not happy with our last trip was that twice when we wanted to use the monorail it wasn't running. The night we stayed at the Poly it wasn't even running the next day which was a little disappointing. It was also majorly backed up before our BOG reservation at the start of Mvmcp too.

and I settled on the Polynesian Pearl because I always wanted to take the pearl cup home. FYI, it's made from a thick plastic and not ceramic.

It's cute! Although I feel like it should be ceramic instead of plastic.

I do remember taking this picture though as I got out of the monorail. I had a great idea to wash out the souvenir cup and fill it with some ice water at the Contempo Cafe, LOL.

Cute! :rotfl: Documenting brilliant ice water ideas

all caught up and joining in!

Hi and Welcome!!

I know! I'm so annoyed because we pay a premium for the monorail resorts and the monorail is always down or delayed. Luckily we didn't experience any more delays after that one time but the again we walked to and from MK a lot more than we would have if we didn't stay at the Contemporary.
It's cute! Although I feel like it should be ceramic instead of plastic.
It would be really nice if it had been!
Cute! :rotfl: Documenting brilliant ice water ideas

Haha I was thirsty and didn't bring my water bottle so I had to improvise! :thumbsup2

I love your DHs Shanghai tshirt! Went right to Uniqlo and ordered one for my DH for our upcoming trip.
Shanghai is our vacation goals.

What an awesome trip so far!! I really want to run a Disney 5k so I am jealous. I am going to Disneyland in August and wasn't able to sign up for race that weekend. It looked really fun!! I can't wait to read more about your trip.

I love your DHs Shanghai tshirt! Went right to Uniqlo and ordered one for my DH for our upcoming trip.
Shanghai is our vacation goals.

It's a really cool shirt! One day I will go there, but I want to go with my in-laws because they speak Mandarin better than both DH and I but my MIL doesn't want to go, says she doesn't like Shanghai!

Loving your trip report! Your outfits are adorable! Can't wait for more!

Thank you so much! I'm writing up a post right now. Yay for snow days!

Just got all caught up on your trip report. I've been following your DL trip report and just saw the link. I'm really enjoying it so far. I'm a frequent DL visitor, but an infrequent WDW visitor. However, I'll be in WDW in April for a long weekend for the Star Wars Dark Side half marathon, so I was particularly excited to read about your race experience. I just booked the trip pretty spontaneously last week so I can get my Kessel Run Challenge medal, and I'm actually leaving DH and my kids at home, so it will be a solo adventure (although some very nice ladies from the DISBoards invited me to join them for dinner on Sat. night :)) I've done two previous half marathons, both at DL (Tinkerbell in 2016 and Star Wars Light Side earlier this year). I walk them, but I'm a fast walker (for SWLS, my friend and I averaged just under 14 minute miles walking). I liked seeing your pictures of the contemporary. We are DVC owners, and our home resort is BLT, but we've never actually stayed there, LOL. I love that your favorite ride is Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, because that was one of my FastPass+ selections for Fri. night after I arrive! You also reminded me about Frozen Ever After in the Norway Pavilion at Epcot, so I just changed my FastPass+ for Epcot from Test Track to Frozen Ever After. (I've actually been on Test Track before, on one of my infrequent prior visits to WDW, and have been on Radiator Springs Races a lot, so this was a good switch.) I don't recall seeing a photo of your Princess Dooney. Can you post? Looking forward to the rest of your report!!
